Front hostess was inconsiderate. After waiting over 45 minutes, with no state of a wait when putting our names in. She asked if we wanted to have our group of 7 split up into two different bootbs. We had gifts in hand, obviously celebrating something with one another. Sure, we came to celebrate seperately, that makes sense? Understandably our group was large, and we expected a wait. But waiting 45, and still not having any clue when a table will be ready? And when asked, how long she states, you are next, but I'm unsure because I just seated a bunch of smaller parties, we are waiting for a larger table. I don't know about everyone else, but I prefer hash-browns to be cooked on both sides: Not simply lightly toasted on the top side with crunchy strands of raw potato against the plate. There wasn't much flavor to anything else but plenty of harsh salt. I don't think the Disneyland-like swampy interior makes up for it. read more

After reading several not so hot reviews, I was tempted not to go for breakfast at Huckleberry's. However, I left the choice up to my guests and they picked this place. There were a total of four of us that arrived at 9:00 a.m. The restaurant had several other patrons, but was not packed. Several Yelp reviews indicated poor customers service, however, I didn't experience that today. Our waitress was AMAZING! Unfortunately, I forgot to get her name. She had middle length brown hair pulled up. Our drinks were always filled and she was knowledge of the menu. As for the food, two of the guests enjoyed their meals. One of them raved about the On The Border Skillet. The other guest raved about the muffin. Although the enjoyed their meals, I didn't think mine was that great. I had two over medium eggs, crispy bacon, crispy hash browns, and an English muffin. The eggs were cooked to perfection, but seemed oily. The bacon was good. It was crispy and delicious. The hash browns were sad. I was so excited they had hash browns, but was quickly disappointed after I tasted them. They weren't very crispy and they tasted like they had been cooked in a pan full of oil. The English muffin was a knock off. It didn't have all the nooks and crannies. The final guest is on a the Paleo diet, so no carbs. She ordered two eggs scrambled and a side of four sausage links. She described the links as a reheated Jimmy Dean sausage. My friend didn't finish the sausage. Hopefully this place can figure out hash browns soon! read more

I was very disappointed. I ordered the unlimited soup and salad and just because I wanted to try a different soup before finishing my first one, the service would stare at me and say "Is something wrong with that one?" After she brought me the other one, she didn't check on us after that. Also, they only have 3 soups. Their gumbo tastes like campbells with no flavor, and they think chili is considered a soup. I didn't get to taste their vegetable soup because the service never came back so I'm just left with unpleasant memories. THE ONLY GOOD THING I HAD WAS THE SALAD. read more

Huckleberry's is a nice place to go out for break. I've gone here a few times with friends and family. If you go out during the weekdays you can actually save a lot money and get a hardy meal on a very inexpensive price. If you happen to visit this place on a any other day, you will pay the price you would at any other breakfast location. They have a good variety so it won't be hard to pick something tasty. It is a little dad and country looking in there. They do seem to always have big groups there so it must be accommodating for them. They are usually pretty quick with getting you In and out. I would recommend letting them know earlier on in your order if you need to be on separate tabs. read more

Steak ordered as medium, came out beef jerky. Gravy was either canned or just tasted like they were. Over easy eggs still had some runny whites. Crapes were more like thin pancakes. Grits are not quite right, a bit watered down and still a tad crunchier than I'm used to. I selected Strawberries as the fruit and they were smothered in a strawberry syrup. Hash Browns (ordered extra crispy) were under cooked even for standard. Cute, clean, atmosphere, good attentive service. We won't be returning. The sweet tea was right on though. Love, love, LOVE Huckleberry's. Been going there for over a decade and have gotten to know the staff and they are all wonderful! The food is fantastic and in very generous portions, and it is served fast and hot. Came here midweek before noon. We were assisted in a friendly manner and seated promptly. This place looks totally different inside since the renovation. We wondered where the bird noises were coming from, until our waiter told us that they were coming from the decorations (fake Owl with glowing eyes that was situated behind our table). Interesting. I ordered the Half Waffle Breakfast, which came with an egg (scrambled) and hot links (I substituted 2 slices of bacon at no extra charge). The half waffle was medium sized, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and it was topped with a blueberry sauce with actual blueberries in it. The eggs were good as was the bacon (crispy but not burned). The coffee was continually refilled without us even having to ask for it, which was good. We must have gotten 3 refills. For two people it came to about $19, this included two breakfast specials and coffee for both. I'd eat here again just to try out the biscuits and gravy. read more

I have came here for breakfast about 4 times. I'm looking forward to my experience every time but always leave hoping I would have chosen somewhere different. The food is always too salty and heavy. The restaurant is nice in the inside and the menus are newspapers which add a nice twist. The service is okay because you get what you need except the servers are bland (at least the ones I've been served by). So with that, I'm left with 2 negatives and 1 positive. My family has enjoyed the food here many times. I've had most of the dishes and today ordered the Breakfast Burrito for a second time. Today's version should have been called the Potato Burrito. It is one of the ingredients...I ordered bacon to go with the egg and cheese...but today there were huge chunks of red potato. The potato tasted fine but there was very little room for eggs,cheese and bacon! It was topped with their chili and that was good too. We were visiting for the CSUS Graduation. Took the graduates to lunch as a party of six. They were extremely busy but the hostess was friendly and courteous and we were seated fairly quickly. Service was fast and friendly. Special requests were accurately executed, particularly "well done hashbrowns". Everyone was happy with their meal. The tuna sandwhich is very good. I'm a student near this place, I always pass by it on my way to school but today I decided to try it out. I walked in, I was pretty excited cause of how hungry I was. Walked up to the counter to wait to be seated. Took someone about 10 mins to acknowledge me, even though many servers were walking by. There was one even on her phone. Idk, I thought maybe a simple "hi we'll be right with you! " would of been okay. So finally someone comes and asks me if I've been helped, she puts me name down on the list. says it'll be about 10 mins. I sit there on the lobby, and then two people walk in, literally get greeted as soon as they walk in and get sat BEFORE me. It was two of them, one of me. It was very strange to experience. I finally get sat down, get handed a menu and left alone. Not even a would you like a water? Haha. This experience was just over all crazy. The food was amazing. The place itself looked pretty cool. It was like New Orleans themed. When we first got there, it took a good while for someone to approach our table and take our order for drinks. It took a another 20 mins to actually get them. Another waiter came to take our order. There was another table that had been there longer and they weren't even helped yet. When our food came it looked good. The food could've been better. I order the Canjun Benedict. I ordered it with country potatoes and let me tell you... when I finally got my food, the potatoes were cold and some pieces weren't even cooked fully telling me that it was just sitting there. There's egg on it and it was cold as well. Not once did our waitress stop by and ask if everything was alright or if we needed anything (we wanted water and ranch). It was somewhat difficult to get her attention because she just didn't look in our direction. Overall, it's ok but I wouldn't want to return. The service just needs to improve. I like the food at this place but the service is not good. Waitresses need to know that just because your friends come in you don't ignore your other customers. I don't care to hear about who does your nails. They should be told all people in there are customers . Visit with your friends at your own time.
