Shrimp Po Boy
Joi L.

Food was great and hot the spot. Our server was nice and brunch went well. The po boy was tasty! Benedict scramble was super tasty, as well. I asked for mine with a chicken strip instead and they made it happen! So, yummy and just a great place to have a laid back brunch!

Stacked chicken n waffles

The first thing is the decor is amazing. The second is the food is excellent. Nice southern cooking and good hospitality. The service is excellent. The staff is very nice and attentive in such a busy environment. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Cajun Eggs Benedict

I don't usually order chicken and waffles, but I'm glad I did. The breading was so flavorful and just the right texture. The waffles were crunchy on the outside and fluffy and soft on the inside. The only thing I didn't love were the eggs. My mom had the ham platter and unfortunately she wasn't a fan. The ham was pretty fatty. Service was okay, not that great. Overall I give it 4 stars but my mom gives it 2.5 since she didn't really like her food.

Menu - Chicken Fried Steak

Was able to swoop in a little bit after lunch and was able to get seated fairly quickly. Overall a decent vibe for a family friendly style restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, country potatoes, scrambled eggs with a biscuit. The food was nice and hot, and when I asked for additional gravy they gave me a good bowl of hot gravy which I really appreciated. Everything was of a good quality but the flavor wasn't anything particularly great. It was a bit bland. They do provide several condiments but I'd prefer something with more flavor. Still everything was cooked well, great service, I would say it is a very safe restaurant which is usually what you want our of a breakfast spot.

Just decided to pop in with my grandfather for a quick bite and am impressed with everything. We both loved our food. I for sure loved my Monte Cristo.

Mardi Gras Beignets ($6.99)
Tony N.

Classic breakfast/lunch chain that can be enjoyed all day every day. If you are looking for some classic American food ranging from eggs cooked in various ways, pancakes, or even sandwiches then this is the spot. They have a variety of foods that will surely satisfy your tastebuds. I got the Mardi Gras Beignets which were very delicious. It comes with three huge, fluffy beignets that pair very well with their sauces of huckleberry, strawberry, and peaches. The pastry was light and not too doughy toppled with a generous amount of powdered sugar that gives it a nice sweetness. Definitely something to share as a nice starter/appetizer. As for my main entree I went ahead and ordered something I wouldn't usually get, Crabs Benedict. Very impressed with how it came out!! The eggs were perfectly runny while sitting on top of the crab mixture topped with the hollandaise sauce. I got a side of fresh fruit to go along with the dish. The service was good with our server refilling our drinks when she noticed it was empty. We ordered a Peach Iced Tea as well. Oh my goodness, this drink was overbearingly sweet! The syrup they used did not sit well and overpowered the beverage even with constant dilution from our water. Would not recommend this one at all. A very family-friendly location that has a great amount of seating and a variety of dishes for all to enjoy. Parking is plenty within a decent location of Turlock. Check this place out if you are craving for some good breakfast or even lunch foods!

Shrimp Po'Boy with LOTS of shrimp

If you want some southern comfort food...this is the place to go!!! My boyfriend and I met up with one of t His friends here. I've had southern food before but this is probably one the best that I've had. I got the fish (deep friend catfish) and chips and swamp tea for drinks. Everything was cooked well. The fries was a little soggy even if I told them to make it extra well done/crispy. I found the swamp tea to be a little sweet so I had to water it down. The highlight of our dine in was the Beignets. They were the bomb!!!!! My boyfriend ordered the shrimp po'boy. It was huge and came with a LOT of shrimps. It was so big that you can't even eat it as a sandwich. Our overall experience was good. The staff was nice and very attentive. We didn't really have to wait long to be seated or to get our food.

Cup of Grits

Second time here but I tried lunch food instead of breakfast. Grits tasted like microwaved not homemade unfortunately. Chicken sandwich was pretty good.

This is my go to spot for breakfast where I live. The kids love going here and we are always treated well. I like how they turned a bad situation into a positive one by having outside dining. The food is always great. My go to breakfast is the chicken fried steak breakfast which I share with one of my kids since it is so much food. The staff here are always great and attentive. I have never had a bad experience here.

We put our name on the list and had to wait 10 mins to get seated. We didn't mind since they seem to have more staff to handle the crowd. Added 2 garlic noodles and 2 side of rice. Overall, I got my crab fix and my wife had her shrimp fix. Our waitress Soledad was great. Very friendly and attentive. The bag arrived much spicier than expected, and my friend was barely able to eat it. When we brought it up, our server immediately insisted it was the correct spice level rather than checking with the kitchen or trying to find a solution. She also assumed I would finish the entire bag myself, when I explained we share one, and would have to charge us extra for a new bag or small side portion for my friend but it was not our mistake. What disappointed me most was the lack of service recovery. There was no apology, no effort to investigate, and no attempt to accommodate the situation. Mistakes happen, but good customer service is about how they're handled. Unfortunately, I left feeling dismissed rather than helped.

Review #1,006 Posted on 2.28.28…read more We stopped in here on a whim on Friday night the 27th while in town, actually originally to try another restaurant. This spot is in a strip mall on Louise Ave in Manteca. We got greeted & sat right away when we came in. The staff here doesn't stop moving, it's pretty much 3 people on the service side, they take orders, run food, & check on you. I believe the guy who checked on us a lot, I want to say his name was Lieness. Super nice guy, hard worker. The other ladies too. Food was good, for sure it's marked up, but I thought quality of the seafood, and the way it was cooked was good. I've got a high standard for the sauce, this one was for sure spicy, stayed on the seafood and corn pretty well. To me that's how you can separate these boil spots from each other. When you pull the shrimp out of the bag and de-shell it does the sauce drip right off? If it does, to me that's a sign of bad sauce, it's not getting infused on the seafood, corn, potatoes, etc. This spot it was decent, but better than most. Cheese sticks were good, sweet potato fries were too, healthy portion on that. We'll probably come and eat here again for sure down the line.

Upon arrival, when I informed our waitress that our party would be nine people, she responded with "Oh my God" and rolled her eyes. Throughout the meal, I was repeatedly asked to perform duties that should have been handled by our server, including putting lids on drinks, passing out beverages, distributing plates and gloves, and handing out condiments and utensils. When our shrimp order arrived incorrectly, my mother politely informed the waitress. Rather than addressing the concern, she walked away. She later returned and stated that they were out of the item we had ordered, which should have been communicated before the food was served. Additionally, the waitress's child was present in the dining area for much of our visit, loudly playing games and talking, which further impacted the dining experience. We chose your restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, and unfortunately the poor service and lack of professionalism overshadowed what should have been a memorable family celebration.

The food was always top notch! After the first ownership change, it seemed to have lost it's value a bit. I went last year and I'm not sure who was the owner at that time, but it seemed to be back up to par. A few weeks ago, some girlfriends and myself stopped by for dinner and drinks. My friend wanted an indigeny and we were told they were out and that the menu was most likely inaccurate regarding beers, due to how often they change them. She wanted a cider and was told dustbowl strawberry margarita is a cider. It is in fact a seltzer and not what she wanted. I asked for a mango mojito and was told they were out of mint. I'd decided to order anyway and when the drink arrived, it was not flavored at all. I asked if it was mango and he said no and went to change it, saying the bartender got mixed up. While it was better as mango, a mojito needs mint. One of my friends ordered fries and what came to the table was not what we would consider fries. It was slices of potato and I didn't find it to have much seasoning. Another friend ordered arancini and an artichoke, while the last friend ordered arancini with tomato sauce on the side. Her arancini arrived with the tomato sauce on the bowl and not on side as requested and the waiter took it back to fix it. The artichoke was not cleaned, leaving the choke (fuzzy part) in the middle and my friend had started to eat it. At $18 for an artichoke, it should be cleaned correctly. The anancini were tasty and I enjoyed both the tomato and the pesto sauce that accompanied it. Before we ordered our mains, the waiter came back to say they were out of burgers and the cut of steak for both the black and bleu and the Jack Daniel's steaks, but could sub a ribeye instead. Ribeyes were market price vs the $37 of those 2 items. I was going to get the black and bleu, but then decided I would try to fish of the day. It was a white fish with a cream sauce and baby shrimp over mashed potatoes and green beans and I thought it was done very well. The fish was flaky, the mash creamy and the green beans had just enough bite! I ended up ordering another drink, but opted for wine to make it more simple. One of my friends had the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and she thought it was OK. While I had hoped for a better experience, I will probably return to see if things are the same or they were just having an off day.

I was excited when I found The Bussdown on Instagram last year and have been waiting in anticipation to try their food ever since. I noticed they started posting on their feed again and was excited when they announced that they'd be open from 2pm-7pm. I attempted to call in my order but had no response. Determined to try it, I drove to their site and saw they were still taking orders, so I got in line. When it was my turn to be helped, I was informed their fryers were down. They had other options, so I ordered the brisket, candied yams, + mac and cheese, and for dessert, caramel biscoff banana pudding. The total came out to $31. The lady that took my order said it would take about 20 minutes. 40 minutes later she informed me that they were just finishing up with my order, but they ran out of caramel for the dessert. When I finally got the food 5 minutes later, I took it to my car and gave it a try. I was disappointed off the bat. Apart from the food being lukewarm/on the colder end, I felt like the price I paid was not worth what I got. The Mac and cheese was not like anything I've tried before. It tasted like it had gorgonzola cheese which was not what i had expected/enjoyed. I thought the yams were tasty but lacking a punch. The brisket was tender but either needed to be seasoned a bit more or have more bbq sauce. The biscoff banana pudding was primarily Bananas, whipped cream, biscoff cookie and butter with a little bit of banana pudding. I really wanted to like the food but was disappointed with the whole experience.
