Out of all the days for this place to fail it had to be on my birthday. Saturday on July 17th 2021 we came for some breakfast within the 10 o'clock hour. We were seated in the igloo part of the restaurant and our food never arrived. We waited almost an hour for our food then we noticed other customers who had came after us were eating. We were a party of 6 not too much or too little to give you all a notion. Our waitress kept coming every 3 minutes to ask us if we wanted more coffee something I didn't mind due to that part of the restaurant had the AC at full blast. What I am so upset about is why didn't she ever check up on our food! I had to ask another waitress what was going on with our food? Our waitress came back and said "we are so sorry the order never went through and they are now making it" I said "ok thanks" we all looked at each other and got up from the table. It's never pleasant to walk out of anywhere feeling, well in our case hungry, but so disappointed that time was just wasted. My husband let the person that seemed to be in charge know we were going to pay for our drinks but that our food never arrived. The person told us it was ok and apologized. Friendly service with a smile is what I've come to expect here, and I'm very seldom disappointed. This place is very consistent, great for breakfast and lunch. There are several options on thier "Huck's Platter", which are really good and thier omelets are great. Additionally they will stamp your receipt and you get half off a meal on your next visit when you purchase two. The only drawback is that I do wish the place would be open for dinner, currently they close at 3pm. However overall I'm very satisfied with thier offerings and will be back. read more

This is a nice place with a family friendly environment and caring staff. We like going with my kids for breakfast or brunch every once in a while. My kids love the French toast and my husband and I like the crepes and the biscuits and gravy. The portions are huge so the prices turn out to be reasonable. I truly believe this place is a gem. It has a fun New Orleans atmosphere and incredible food. I ordered the catfish po boy with fries today and it was perfect. The roll was delicious, fish was crisp, and the garlic aioli was amazing. The fries had a yummy seasoning that went perfect with the po boy. The service was great also. The workers were friendly and refilled our drinks as needed. I came here with 5 other people and everyone cleaned their plates. I can't wait to come here again, it's my new favorite spot in Turlock. Meh. It's a good deal for breakfast. We came early on a Sunday, but still had to wait. I guess we didn't quite beat the Sunday church crowd. However, it was a short wait, so we didn't mind. Their menu has some New Orleans Cajun influences. I ordered the Cajun-inspired skillet. It's very sizeable for the price. However, I think that the flavors were a bit lacking. I wanted a bit more oomph. Luckily, they provided use with some hot sauce, so I doused the dish with hot sauce. It also came with a biscuit, but I wasn't really a fan of it. Alot of people i know eat here. So when i came to visit turlock to see family, i decided to order breakfast from here. I got the french toast. First off, the portions were great. It wasnt just two skimpy pieces of french toast. However, as soon as my food was delivered, all i could smell was eggs. I am sensitive to the smell of eggs, and i know it is used to make french toast, but this was beyond what i could handle. I didnt even open the bag yet and i still smelled it. I decided to brave up and try the french toast but i couldnt do it. There was egg cooked all over the toast and the smell really disgusted me. Ive had french toast in a lot of places that dont use as much egg or somehow it doesnt smell as bad. But i couldnt tolerate this. read more

The only reason I gave a one star is because I couldn't give a zero. I was so excited to try this restaurant as I had heard good reviews. I should have went to Denny's. This food was DISGUSTING. Probably one of the worse meals I have ever had. I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle had NO TASTE! I had to drink something sweet to make sure I wasn't losing my taste! The chicken had no seasoning whatsoever. My husband had the catfish with creole sauce and the fish looked undercooked with a can of tomato sauce on it. He couldn't even eat it. Huckleberry's is a great place that serves brunch and breakfast. Everything is fresh and well made. I always come back for their Cajun Benedict and it is absolutely delicious. It is one of their unique plates that they serve only here. I also love the drinks they have in sugar-rimmed mason jars. The bread is also very fresh and their biscuits are very flaky and melts in your mouth. They have a large variety of options to choose from as well. Service was excellent!!! While visiting the family up in the 209 and being disappointed that one of my new favorite brunch restaurants was not open on Sundays, we decided to hit up Huckelberry's and give it a try. We had a group of 5+ and a few kids and we were kindly informed that there would be a wait. Being a Sunday morning, I had already expected that. The hostess was very friendly and informed me a few times that even though they were sitting some smaller groups down, that they hadn't forgotten about us. The restaurant is near Pizza Hut and right across from Stanislaus State University. The place has a sort of bayou feel to it. Fake tree inside, bird noises, etc. And you must watch out for the gator at the entrance/lobby waiting area haha. The tables have buckets holding the sauces (ketchup, hot sauce, etc) and a roll of napkins to use throughout the meal. I decided to order some sort of scramble which consisted of potatoes, eggs, bell peppers, onions, sour cream, and avocado over it. I decided to get a berry muffin for my side which was humongous and served warm. The husband ordered the beignets and we shared our food. He also ordered their seasonal pumpkin spice coffee. The scramble was decent, large in portion and did taste pretty good, although a bit salty. The beignets I wouldn't recommend ordering. They were good but not the greatest. They were a bit on the tougher side rather than the fluffy side. They were served over some fruit jelly/jam thing that made them taste better. The pumpkin spice coffee was NOT good at all. It was way too syrupy, thick and wayyyyy too sweet.It felt like it was the very end of the mix or something. We decided to mix some of our coffee with it to make it taste better and our waitress was sweet enough and understood how we felt about it. She came a few times to pour regular hot coffee to our cups and mix the pumpkin one as well. It was a lot better after mixing it with regular coffee. Over all, their customer service is better than their food. They dealt with our wild bunch over breakfast and seated us in a timely manner even on a busy Sunday cold morning. I took my wife to huckleberry in Turlock because I had a great breakfast at the Oakdale location. When in Oakdale the waitress Leah was outstanding at our table of 8. So when I took my wife atTurlock location I order the same meal. Diced ham and eggs and my wife ordered biscuits and gravy. Service ok but our food was cold and our waitress only came back to give us coffee. A very tall guy brought the food. The potatoes were burnt and crunchy and the onions were fried and cold. I will never recommend to my Turlock customers not to go there but go to Oakdale. Sorry for the bad review but I was not happy. read more

The manager apologizes and says he will take care of us then disappears. Manager does nothing, then after watching us pay, asked if everything was ok, i reiterated how poor the food was, raw and then over greased and not edible and he said to let him know next time I come in and he would take care of us, ha! Did not even take the food we sent back as inedible off our check and expects me to come back? I don't think so... Other people aside from the old half dead people were all complaining. The positive reviews have to be from people that work there as it is not good nor charming. Really, this place deserves just 3.5 stars. Yelp made me choose between 3 or 4 stars, which I thought about for a surprisingly long time and decided to go with 4-stars. I've only been there once, but plan on going back. We both ordered breakfast and it came out quickly, was hot, and delicious. They offer a 15% discount to CSU Stan students (the campus is literally across the street), which is really nice of them. The service was prompt, but not personable in any way.
