I recently purchased an over-the-range microwave from Hudson Appliance. Same price as Lowe's. My salesman Joe was the best. I first said I would pick it up, but after I thought about it I decided to have it delivered. I call Joe to ask if I could have it delivered and he said all there trucks were full, tax-free weekend. He asked when I needed it by and I said Saturday. He said he would get it there for me. Saturday afternoon, Joe shows up, in his car, and delivers the microwave himself!! I always try to give my business to the local businesses first, but it appears that they don't want it and really couldn't care less about their local customers. My past 2 experiences have left me never wanting to bother going back. First off, sales experience in both cases went easy, I'm not a picky customers and was able to find pretty quickly what I wanted in both situations. Going back to November right before Thanksgiving, my dishwasher died, I had 40 people coming to my house. Went to HA and told them I have to have the dishwasher for turkey day, that's why I came to them. Picked out a new washer, they promised delivery on Wednesday. Delivery time comes, the plumber they arranged showed up but no HA truck with a dishwasher shows up. I call the store to find out where it was and was told pretty rudely that it wasn't on for delivery and it won't be delivered that day that they were too busy. I explained the situation and let him know it was unacceptable and not what they promised...I purposely went to them because they promised delivery...the plumber they sent was waiting, etc..I eventually got a call back and the owner (I believe) loaded up my dishwasher and brought it to my house. (I live about 4 miles from the store). Problem solved. I was pleased the company came through. More recent poor experience was this past week. Went in on Friday to buy a new stove to take advantage of tax free weekend. I was happy to support a local business rather than the box stores. Pick one out and paid for it. Was in the store for a total of 15 minutes. Arranged for delivery between 8-11 the following Wednesday. Today is Wednesday and no delivery. Call the store and was told that I wasn't on the delivery list and they couldn't even find my "folder". Explained this is the second time this has happened. Person I spoke to was quite dis-interested that my customer service experiences have been less than stellar. Told me they were busy with the weekend and deliveries weren't even supposed to be scheduled....ummm ok...and how is that my fault when on Friday my delivery was supposedly scheduled. So we rescheduled delivery for next week. After further consideration I decided to just call and cancel the order all together, based on the lack of sincerity of caring that this was s second delivery problem. I left a message for a salesman asking him to cancel. He called back for my CC# to credit. Basically just said "I don't blame you" and then "sorry" in a tone I usually hear from my teenagers. Really didn't seem to matter to him they just lost a sale. Guess they just didn't want my business. So much for supporting the local guy! I tried! read more

Terrible customer service! The owner went so far as to say that he doesn't care if he loses our business because he has many other customers. Their prices are often more expensive than other stores that sell appliances and they have a very strict no returns policy that they don't feel they need to share with their customers during the purchasing process but certainly let you know about when you are trying to return a product that doesn't work! We bought all our appliances here 23 years ago when we built our house. Since then, we've only had to replace the dishwasher. Recently, our 23 yr old fridge started to leak at the water junction and since it was a dinosaur, we decided to replace it with a more efficient model. Selecting a fridge to fit into the counter depth cabinet AND in black was a challenge, but Rocco presented us with the few options. The issue would be the height of the space. The installer came out and determined that the fridge would fit, so I ordered it. It was delivered at exactly the time and date agreed upon. Flawless in and out of the old fridge. Installation was more of a problem. The space would accomodate the new fridge, but it would have been almost impossible to pull it out for any service or cleaning. Matt and his partner, Mike were the most courteous, professional AND competent I've ever encountered. They skillfully removed the overhead cabinet, shaved off 1/2 inch and replace the cabinet. The fridge slipped right in and there's no way to tell that the cabinet had been altered. I would recommend Hudson Appliance and particularly Matt without hesitation. read more

I personally have never had such fantastic, honest, or thorough help as I did at Hudson Appliance. They don't just try to sell you the most expensive product they ask all of the probing questions needed for the kitchen that the set is going in to make sure that it will fit and that it will look on point. I was looking at one particular piece and high dollar piece at that and after going through measurements, design, cabinets, stuff I wpuld never think about looking at I found out, by the help of the awesome sales guy that it wouldn't fit due to not making the proper size. His honesty and expertise saved me a lot of time and frustration. They are a no bullshit, local, friendly, store with professional guys in there. They even said to look around other places just to be sure I was getting a good price and I did of coarse. Low and behold, their price was better plus, it's local, and personable. We bought a Washer, Dryer and Dishwasher from Hudson. The salesperson seemed knowledgible and helpful. Assured us that Bosch was the way to go. Assured us of the quality and said it was what he has at his home. 2 years later, the $700 washing machine needs to be replaced as the motor control board is broken. Looking online this is a common problem and of course it is beyond the warranty and the part is on back order--again must be a common flaw. We will have no washer for a month more. I regret trusting a salesperson, I regret not checking the model on my own, and I regret not recognizing their pushing rebates on flawed models. Very disappointed. read more

My oven would not work. Hudson appliance came and said that they could not get the part to fix it. That we could come in and check out what they had in stock. I made a 3 minute call to Sears and had the part ordered and an appointment made for repair. Oven works great and I would never recommend Hudson appliance to anyone. I called Hudson appliance to tell them that I did what they said could not be done and all they said was Sears won't sell to them because they are their competitors. ??? I did get back my money only after I complained to the better business bureau. I give them only one star only because my report won't post if I don't. read more

Will never purchase from Hudson appliance again! Their installer Gerry is a grouchy old man, who doesn't even introduce himself upon arrival (I had to ask if he was from Hudson appliance). After some back and forth about the age of our plumbing it was determined that Gerry couldn't do the work because he "doesn't do crawl spaces" so we hired a separate plumber to install our new dishwasher. We confirmed twice with Hudson appliance on the delivery date and time and reconfirmed that it was just a delivery. Well the day came and good ol'Gerry returned to complete an installation. When I informed him it was just a delivery, he unhappily brought the dishwasher into my kitchen, handed me a copy of an invoice and left. Didn't say goodbye and pretty much slammed my door. I immediately called Hudson appliance to make them aware that the lack of communication between the sales team and Gerry as well as make them aware of Gerry's non-customer friendly service. I was told by the gentleman on the phone "don't worry about Gerry dear" and he hung up. Hudson appliance should take a moment to listen to their customers and be more concerned about the type of impression Gerry is leaving. Poor customer service from start to finish. read more

I wanted my Lynx grill serviced, and was given the name and number of Hudson Appliance from the Lynx Customer service center in CA. This grill requires a special certified Lynx repair professional. The Hudson Appliance receptionist refused to schedule me because I live 19 miles away from their store. (I actually don't think this is very far; we routinely have people come to our house from over an hour away and even RI and CT to help with service issues). Since the receptionist was extremely rude and inflexible, I requested to speak with her manager. The manager was similarly very impolite and actually hostile towards me. I offered to pay extra for transportation time/gas of her repair person, but she angrily stated that they were swamped and booking 2 weeks out already. I am very upset by the treatment I received from Hudson Appliance. I am sure the owner would be similarly disappointed. read more

Our designer purchased all of our kitchen appliances from Hudson so I call them. I have not had very professional service when needed and my most recent one confirms it. Recently I requested them to look at the dishwasher that was not working. While the technician was there, I asked him about the refrigerator, why the ice maker was not working. Suddenly the service charge increases.. The same repair person returns two weeks later when he arrives he realizes they gave him the wrong part. Did anyone think of checking that before? He leaves and now 4 weeks later they call me to say they cannot fix my refrigerator because the part has been discontinued. I asked them to refund the service charge on the refrigerator, no way! Then I tell them that I cannot be there on a week day for two months and there is no Saturday service. The person on the phone says, "I better make a note or they will charge you another service charge again". I think anyone reading this review understands what kind of place it is when someone who works at a company refers to his coworkers or the company as "they". Never mind, why did I have to know their internal procedures? I sure hope when they return in two months it will be the right part and the dishwasher will finally work. read more

I agree with others- I made my purchase over the phone, quick easy and friendly. Very professional. The first, yes first delivery, was quick and friendly, they even cleaned up after themselves because it was sandy/wet outside that day. BUT my husband noticed a dent in the back of the fridge and didn't say anything that day. When i contacted them, the delivery men "never saw it" and according to Hudson appliance "would never have left it that way. it must have been moved afterwards and damaged. No way my guys would have missed that". After being accused of the damage that magically appeared she agreed to have the MFR send a new one and I had to take a day off to be home for the delivery. I don't recommend HAC nor will I use them again- which I found out they keep a list of people who say negative things about their business and quite frankly- id never go back to them anyways after this. Hopefully they aren't part of the BBB - thats my next stop. Customers may not always be right- but when you flat out tell them they are lying, your business will suffer greatly. Went for the prices, not the insults. Ill pay more next time for friendly service. No one apologized to me during the whole process and i'm ok with that since I wont need them any more read more

Service is terrible. After we bought a bunch of appliances there over many years, we have the same experience over and over, poor service. They have little interest in service to actually help people, its very robotic. They don't have compassion, empathy or service skills that are meaningful or resonate to customer. It is a simple concept that is lost on them. Seems like owners want to sell but yet servicing customers is what increased volume an sales. That falls down on this organization. We set up an appointment for a broken appliance, had to wait a week, they then needed to order a part, then they came back a week later. And it was still broken on that day, we called and they said the earliest date is a week later. You have to get back in line all over again. Its a crazy system that perpetuates a terrible experience. If they thought they fixed it and did not, come back again and fix it. Many others in town have same issues, would go elsewhere for sure. Last purchase they get in our neighborhood of 45 homes. read more
