I would not purchase anything else from Hudson Appliance. We purchased a stove 3 years ago. When we purchased it we were told that they had a special going on and they would cover all service calls no charge for 10 years. When we called to get the door that detached fixed, we were told that this was not covered under maintenance nor was the service call charge. Make sure get everything in writing or record the sales person. The cost of the stove was more than other places the only reason we chose Hudson Appliance was because of the no service charge. read more

Recently the stackable washer that I bought from Hudson Appliance seven years ago stopped working so I called for service. The repairman came and asked what the washer was doing. When I told him it sounded like a 747, he said that it needed to be replaced. That will be $169.95 please! I live 1.6 miles from Hudson Appliance. As soon as the repairman left, we went to the store to purchase a new washer. When I told the salesman I need a new washer and when I said I had Frigidaire stackables, he rudely said, Frigidaire no longer made washer and dryers that he did not know why the repairman did not inform me of this and I would have to buy a new set. When I was upset over the fact that I had been sold on stackables by Hudson Appliance seven years earlier for the very reason that I would not have to replace both appliances if one broke, he said he he would check with Electrolux to see if there was a washer that could be substituted. A week later after I purchased a new set from another appliance store and left a message for the owner (who was available to take my complaint call) that not only did they loose the sale of a new washer and dryer but also the refrigerator and dishwasher I need, he called me. He said he was too busy to follow-up on the call to Electrolux and waited until they contacted him. If I thought he was rude in the store, it was nothing compared to his rudeness on the phone. I will be leaving a review on the other appliance store's site raving about how helpful they were working with me. Because of the size of my laundry closet, I did have to buy a complete set. Washers have gotten bigger and the depth became s problem. So sad when you try to "buy local" and the store personnel thwart you!! read more

I'm sorry to have to write this because apparently this business has been in business for 42 years. But at some point people have to understand this is a customer service driven society and people must be treated fairly and honestly. Let me first say, I do not mind paying for quality, service and convenience. I value my time, honesty, and craftsmen who take pride in their work. This business exhibited none of those attributes in our one interaction. Our freezer was not working. We called the manufacturer and they told us it could be fixed and exactly what to tell a qualified repair service. We called Hudson and gave them the details. We agreed to the flat fee of $149 to send a technician out. When the technician arrived, he didn't even look at the appliance. He said immediately - "I've seen this many times - that will cost $1800 minimum, and I can't guarantee it will fix the problem." We sent him away, irritated they had even rolled the truck when they knew the outcome. I called Hudson expecting they would be reasonable given he had done no work and knew the answer before arriving. No chance. Instead, I got an extremely rude collections person who harassed me as if I had stolen a car from them. Or, perhaps it was as if I were one of hundreds of irate customers they had dealt with over the years, collecting this fee on repairs that were never done... It struck me after the fact that perhaps this is a big part of their business. Rolling trucks and getting paid this flat fee for repairs that they could have avoided. We received a court order for small claims court. On the day of the court appearance, which I was prepared to attend, they called to try to "settle". Linda from Hudson told me she had taken many many customers to court and never lost, and that I should just pay the full bill plus the court fee. I said I was willing to split the bill and call it done. Apparently the owner was involved, refusing to compromise. 42 years of taking customers to court. Hmm. read more

I was in the market looking for the prefect stove. I had a big spreadsheet listing many models with prices, pros and cons and what stores had what - and if they were listed in Consumer Reports. I got some helpful advice from a guy at the Home Depot, but I just don't like supporting the big guys. CR mentioned trying to go to a small mom and pop applicance place, so I did. Living in Acton, we tried out Hudson Appliance. They had a pretty big showroom (though they seemed a bit busy) and ended up giving suggestions that weren't on my list. And they offered prices comparable (or many times LESS) than the big guys. AND they removed the old stove and had the plumber (because it was a gas stove) come at the same time as the delivery. And the plumber was reasonable as well. Great service, nice people, local business, helpful advice and I absolutely LOVE my new stove. read more

Sent a request on their website on a Sunday seeking repair of my refrigerator (did not expect a response until Monday). Did get a call on Monday (Jody) but my wife received it, and not knowing the issue, said I would call back. Did about an hour later, left a detailed message, went to the gym. My wife, having enough information, called later but did not leave a message. We heard nothing on Tuesday. Wednesday morning called at 9:15, hit voicemail, left no message. Love to support family owned operations. Nice showroom with lots of great options including some very high end products. Way beyond my means but cool to look at. Sales people are pretty knowledgeable but it can be a hit or miss as they are not always as active on the floor as they should be. I have purchased about 8 appliances from them and only one has had an issue but they were quick to respond and fix. No issue with service. Before you go to Sears or HD or any other big box store, check the price and then consider your local shop. Hudson Appliance is worth checking out. We purchased a Bosch Washer and Dryer in Oct. Expensive and not worth it I can tell you. We went to Hudson hoping we would get service (we could have gone to Sears and purchased a front loading washer and dryer for 60% of what we paid). The dryer alarms all the time and takes two or three times as long as our previous 20 year old Kenmore. Even worse our basement flooded with about 6 inches of water (we had the units on 3 inch pallets) and the water ruined the board that controls the washer. Repeated phone calls to Hudson resulted in "the part is backorder...uh we will get back to you...maybe!" I don't blame Hudson for the computer board being ruined and the need for service- but I do blame them for not having repair parts stocked for Bosch (in their words "our premium product") and being unable to service their product.in a timely manner. Two weeks seems timely to me How can you stay in business if you cannot provide service and you are charging 40% more than comparable big box stores? My guess is that you cannot! I would NOT recommend Hudson to anyone seeking a product- and even when the Bosch system was working it was alarming non stop- and did not dry clothes properly. It is supposed to save electricity- but the savings are negligible as I review our power bills! read more

Our experience with Hudson Appliance has been fantastic!  Prior to walking into the showroom I was completely overwhelmed by the choices on stoves and refrigerators. Walking out after just an hour or so I was fully confident in my choices and had picked out all basic 4 appliances needed for our kitchen.  We worked with Bill R who listened to what we wanted and offered his opinion with no upselling.  Due to the pandemic we pushed off our kitchen remodel for a year.  When we decided to remodel this year we worked again with Bill who advised our appliances were still being manufactured but strongly encouraged us to order as soon as possible which we did.  As info we ordered in February for an end of June remodel, all 4 appliances came in by mid-may.  They were held for us until they were ready for installation about the end of July.  Since our install we have had questions on some of the appliances and again Bill is at the ready to answer.  I have never received this kind of attention and detail at the big box stores and cannot recommend Hudson Appliance enough. read more

Made a service appointment for my maytag washer and fridge. Left the house unlocked, and followed up the morning of the appointment to confirm. They refused to perform any service without me there to pay them at the end. As if they couldn't take a credit card number in advance, or invoice me. I established in advance that I would not be home, but nothing was said to me at that time about any such policies. We had to wait over a week for them to come look at our washing machine. They had quoted me $69.99 to send someone out without repair and labor. The guy came looked at it, quoted us $700 to fix it or buy a new one during their Columbus day sale while also charging us $159 for this diagnosis instead of the quoted $69.99. I spent $5000 there and wish I never walked in the door! I would have gotten better service from a big box store! The events from the beginning...The arrogant delivery guy insisted that my brand new (purchased from a plumber) metal washing machine hose leaked all on it's own...hmmm...and that I needed to give him $15 for a new one or he'd just walk out leaving me with a washing machine that was not operational and I could call a plumber to fix it. So I gave him the $15 for which I never received a receipt...hmmm... lunch? Then comes the 2k fridge. To level it at my request...hmm...he opened the bottom freezer door and picked the fridge up by the open door!...hinges???...Then on the way out I see that my storm door is broken! When I pointed this out, he arrogantly said that "I" had broken it when I let him in! Then the argument ensued! I told him to leave! He said he had to get his tools...I followed him in, he took his tools and on the way out decided he would put the cabinet knob back on the cabinet. I told him to leave it and leave my house! He said NO! and continued to attach the knob, I again said leave it alone and get out! And again he refused! I was ready to call the cops! I said, it's not good practice to argue with the customer! He said he wasn't arguing! I said you're arguing about not arguing now GET OUT! I called the store....got transferred to the owner, had to leave a voicemail. I asked him to call me asap. NEVER A CALL!!! He got a fix it guy to call me who came to my house, another employee with a bad attitude! Said that the wind could have broken the door! on a not wind day! Said it could have been like that before they got there! He replaced a part lol...he put it on backward! and the darn door still didn't close! I had to end up getting my handyman to turn the part around and shim the door! I would NEVER EVER recommend Hudson Appliance to anyone ever! To this day I have not received a call from the owner! Are you scared to call me? Don't like conflict? I'd better get a call from this review or I'll stand in front of their store and tell my story to everyone that walks by never mind has intention to spend thousands of dollars there!!! We tried supporting a local shop during COVID and it came back to bite us. We spent a ton of money here on a high end stove, microwave, and fridge in June 2020. We received the fridge with a huge scratch on the dispenser door. We were able to have a replacement door ordered, but when the door came in a month later and the technician came out to install, we found out that the wrong door was ordered - despite pictures being sent and discussions of the dispenser door being the one with damage. We have had to follow up numerous times and still don't have a replacement door or an answer as to when we will receive it. I was told we would receive the replacement door at the end of Sept 2020. It's now early December 2020 and I haven't heard a peep on the status so I reached out to them today. The service representative could not provide an update and was unnecessarily rude and dismissive of my inquiry, despite being at fault for ordering the wrong part originally and causing excessive delay. I understand things are delayed due to COVID, but the lack of communication and service I have received since purchasing these items is severely disappointing. Needless to say we will never go back, nor will we recommend to anyone we know. read more

The price seemed fair compared to other vendors and there were rebates that were offered. Delivery came the day that was booked and actually a little earlier (with a phone call asking permission first) Mark Hoeffler removed our old dishwasher and informed us of some "home repairs" that were done incorrectly. He explained everything to us thoroughly and just added a small amount more for correcting the problems. The dishwasher looks and works beautifully and I would recommend Hudson Appliance to anyone. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! I purchased a GE Profile refrigerator here 3 years ago. About two months ago it started making a loud noise. At the initial diagnosis visit the repairman identified a fan as needing replacement, but needed to order the part. Made an appointment several weeks out for "first call" in the morning. Repairman had car trouble and showed up several hours late, but Service Rep didn't call to let me know because she was "too busy". Repairman brought the wrong fan, and needed to schedule yet another service call. On the third service call, the repairman replaced the fan, updated the software, and charged me for the fan. About 5 minutes after the repairman left, the noise came back, because he had not turned on the switch that powers the fan. Need to order a different fan!!! On the fourth service call, the repairman replaced the second fan, but told me that he couldn't remove the first fan (the one that wasn't broken) because they had updated the refrigerator software during service call #3 and could not reverse the procedure and would not refund my money. I was told that I should be OK with this, because the fan would eventually need to be replaced anyway!!! All told I was forced to pay $159.95 for the diagnosis, $128.83 for the fan that wasn't broken and $66.83 for the second fan that was really broken. Am getting ready to renovate the rest of my kitchen, so am glad that I found out about the business practices of Hudson Appliance before giving them any more business!! read more

Great salesman (Derek) and service person (Jared). I just finished my kitchen and interior remodel and purchased all of my appliances over the last two years with Hudson. Derek worked with me for several months giving me specs and prices for several different options. I did a lot of the research myself, and then asked him to work his magic in getting me a good deal. He was able to match any online price I brought to him by offering discounts, both in store and rebates. I have often recommended him to friends when they want to purchase new appliances. The deliveries were as good as any delivery experience can be. They were quick yet careful not to damage new floors and walls. They also didn't charge me when they had to come back a second time to deliver the washer/dryer because my contractor didn't measure the space correctly and had to knock out a wall. I've had service out to my house four times on my KitchenAid french door refrigerator. It was the only fridge that would fit in my space (so I didn't have much choice) but it's nice that they arrange the same person for each service visit - it eliminates the need for me to explain everything all over again. Jared is great and he takes the time to explain what he is doing and offering advice on any/all my appliances when I ask. Even though some of my appliances are now included in an extended warranty, I am very glad that Hudson is still servicing the appliances. And it is also the main reason I decided to buy local. read more

Worst experience, will not go back. Purchased a stove over the tax free weekend. They call me Tuesday to set up delivery for Wednesday between 12-4. Wednesday morning at 9:30 Joe, a salesman calls to tell me my stove has been damaged beyond repair. Can't deliver it. I asked if he could help me find the same stove in their network of 150 stores they bragged about when I bought it. His response "I don't have time to do that". I asked what they are going to do for me, "Nothing we can do" is his response. I went to the store to get my refund, they acted like nothing ever happened, didn't want to talk about a replacement or offer to pay the tax for a new stove from a different store. Nothing. Our experience with Mathew, the plumber, was superlative. Our last experience in a different city was so bad that we called that dealer to complain about the poor workmanship and sloppiness of that installer. Not so this time. GO SOMEPLACE ELSE! The showroom has a great selection, but the service is horrible. We purchased very upscale appliances for a new home, and our freezer didn't work. I won't go into all the frustrating details, but six months later, they still have not fixed the issue. I called the service department repeatedly to get an ETA on parts, and although they repeatedly promised to get back to me, they didn't return my calls. Finally I was told the parts were in, and they set up an appointment for about two weeks later. I cancelled an appointment, rearranged my schedule, and waited all day. They never showed up. No phone call, no email, nothing. I called and left a message for the service department, and then spoke to the owner who was belligerent and finally hung on me. Great service. Our refrigerator started causing problems over a month ago. Frigidaire allowed Mr. Appliance from Central MA to come here. The technician practically destroyed our refrigerator, said the gaskets needed to change and open the diffuser damper door and left, promising to come back next week. Never showed. Everything in the fresh food section froze up, the filter broke and water poured on our food. Finally, Hudson Appliance came through. Lucas came and explained what exactly the problem was. Showed me what needed to be replaced. Replaced the damper door and made sure that it was functioning. Ordered the filter and made sure that Frigidaire paid for it. Gave me very clear instructions on what to do in case of another problem. Gave his phone number to contact. Very impressed by this young man's professionalism and attention to details. I highly recommend Hudson and you are very lucky if you are meeting Lucas. read more

Hudson Appliance - I spent over $18,000.00 with this company 6 months ago and they won't come service my faulty front right burner on my stove because I live 5 minutes outside their service area! Incompetent and/or unscrupulous. Two month into a simple clothes washer pump replacement on warranty and now they're discovering/creating new problems - damaged wiring. Customer service is terrible as well. How is it possible that no one is ever available to answer the phone??? And, you'd think that after eight weeks of fumbling through erroneous part orders, they would bump you to the top of the list for a next appointment but no... the next available is always another week away. After some defrosting and disassembly he went to his truck and returned with a new fan motor, saying it was a rather common problem and he had put one on the truck this morning. I recently purchased a new home that needed new appliances. Instead of going with a big box store we decided to support the local business thinking it was the right thing to do. I will NEVER do business with them again. It really is a shame because their sales staff and service techs are great but their customer service is the worst thing I have ever experienced. One week after our refrigerator was installed I went to get water out of the door and nothing came out and I heard a strange noise in the back. I moved the refrigerator away from the wall and I saw water all over the wall and floor in my kitchen. The water was spraying everywhere. I cleaned up the mess, shut off the water, and called them to see if they would fix it. They came out a couple days later, in the middle of the work day because it was the only time they were available that week, and they fixed it. The service tech was great and said it shouldn't be an issue again, it didn't even take him 10 minutes to fix. 2 months later, the same thing happened again. This time it took a week for them to come to fix it since I needed to get a first call of the day (I have to take off work every time they come and I was trying to not take a full day off of work). The guy comes out (very friendly) and says we have a faulty valve and he needs to order another one. It should take 5-7 days. After a week without hearing anything, I give them a call and ask about where our part is, a rude woman on the phone tells me they ordered it and they don't know when it would be. I asked if she had any tracking information and she said no we don't do that and she has no idea when it will be in so I should wait for a call. After another week of not hearing anything I call again, and I get the same snarky remark saying the parts aren't in and they have no idea when they will be in. I tried a few days later and I get the response "oh yeah they came in yesterday". Then we try and schedule someone to come to our house to install the part and i'm told I have to take off of work again. I explained to them that I've already taken off 2 days off of work so I can work around their schedule and I can't afford another day off. Their response? "Its not our fault it keeps breaking, LG made the refrigerator, you should call them and see if they can get a service tech out there at a different time." I've never been so appalled or angry by customer service before. After talking to the manager I got someone to come at 7:30 instead of 8:30 so I missed a little less work but this is getting out of control. I can't believe they are in business and I seriously recommend anyone to NEVER go there again. The customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with in any situation before. Jeff our salesperson was super responsive. There was a small mistake the ended up requiring an appliance return and re-istallation and Hudson went out of their way to accommodate us.
