Food 2 stars. Drinks and service give it the extra star. Looking at the menu I thought this place had something exciting to offer and its menu choices did, but the food did NOT deliver especially because of the price. The best part of the meal was fried calamari which is saying very little because it's a staple appetizer. I had the seafood stew, the broth was good, but the seafood in the stew was all over cooked. All of it, like chewy over cooked. ($26) My friend had the seafood risotto and I had some and it was weird VERY sweet and did not have the right consistency for risotto. ($25) The fish tacos were nothing special at all, too greasy for me ($9) The drinks were good though. Our server was adequate, although he didn't get us our bread until our meals arrived. I WOULD NOT RETURN for dinner. After a certain time the restaurant closes down and turns into a bar with dancing and our bar tenders were really helpful and gave us some awesome tasty drinks. I was looking for a place in White Plains last weekend to accommodate a party of six with wildly different tastes and eating styles, and Hudson Grille turned out to be the perfect choice for us! There was something for everyone on the menu, and we even managed to agree on several appetizers and desserts to share. ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE The space felt large and roomy. It was pretty empty when we arrived around 4 p.m., but started to fill up as our meal wound down. There was a bar with some kind of sports game on TV, and that area got a little bit loud at times, but we were seated a distance away and it wasn't too bothersome. I did think that the lighting was too dim, and it made the glare of the afternoon sun coming in through the blinds even more irritating (but if we closed the blinds, it felt too dark to see our food or each other very well). Our waiter was very friendly and accommodated all of our requests, and the staff refilled our water frequently so we never went thirsty! APPETIZERS We chose the lobster quesadilla (which came with a mango salsa and sweet chili sauce), the sautéed mussels, and the pear-thyme salad to share. The quesadilla was the star, with tender lobster and a nicely browned tortilla. The mussels, too, were surprisingly good--not at all sandy, and the coconut milk, lemongrass, curry broth was so flavorful, just the right level of sweet and spiced. The large hunk of bread on top tasted great when soaked in the broth. The salad was tasty, too; I really liked the grilled pears but was kind of unimpressed by the rest of it, and I didn't taste the thyme much at all. ENTREES I'll start with the chipotle shrimp pasta, which we asked to be not too spicy. The kitchen complied perfectly, and it had just the right amount of kick without being overpowering. The tomato- and pepper-based sauce was good, but we weren't wowed by the dish and probably wouldn't order it again. The duck breast had a really nice sear and the right amount of chew without being tough. The julienned vegetables were bright and fresh, and the duck wontons brought a nice sweet yet savory burst to the plate. The cedar plank salmon was cooked absolutely wonderfully, with a tender, flaky inside and crusty, crunchy exterior. So delicious! And his bok choy and rice looked good, as well. My pasta was, by far, the best of all the dishes: pillowy tortellacci stuffed with butternut squash puree, served atop a bed of soft spinach, and all doused with a garlic cream sauce, then topped with a sun-dried tomato pesto. It was seriously out of this world, and I was so glad to have run 11 miles earlier that morning so that I could eat it without feeling guilty about how creamy and decadent (and calorie-laden) it was!!! DESSERTS We chose three different desserts: the banoffee pie, the almond coconut ice cream cake, and the flourless chocolate cake. We enjoyed all three, but the ice cream cake was my favorite, with a subtle hint of coconut and all enrobed in a rich chocolate ganache. It also came with a mango sauce that paired nicely, and I wish there had been some more of that. The plating was pretty, too. The flourless chocolate cake was also good, super dark and rich and thick. I don't think I would have been able to eat more than a few bites if it were the only dessert I'd ordered, though, because it was so heavy and filling. It came with vanilla ice cream, but we asked for chocolate instead. Lastly, the banoffee pie. I loved the bananas and the whipped cream and the chocolate sauce and the toffee glaze....but I did not like the tart shell at all. It was a pretty flavorless puff pastry that just didn't go with the rest of the dessert. It was such a great experience for my mother and I's birthday dinner. We enjoyed the outside area, and the professionalism of the staff. They were curteous and friendly as well as brought our food out in a timely manner. From the appetizer to the dessert it was delicious. We had the lobster dumplings, guacamole, chicken lollipops, lobster quesadilla, bread pudding, roasted chicken, shrimp pasta, lobster roll, Mac and cheese and salmon. I'd recommend it all! Pleasantly surprised !! I stopped here recently with my family for dinner and I expected the usual White Plains tavern/restaurant type fare. Hudson Grille is really unique. It has a large space with a bar and plenty of casual seating for lunch or dinner. Then there is a another large room with an upscale decor with stone walls, dark wood and leather seating. The look reminded me of an upscale Manhattan steakhouse. A third space is outside in the back of the building for al fresco dining. A wide selection of wine and drinks (try the Lychee Martini) and a wide and varied menu. I enjoyed the fish tacos, which were fresh and delicious, we also shared the Moo Shu Chicken in lettuce wrap. That was light and very tasty appetizer. Another pick was the Filet Mignon kababs which were nicely grilled and served in a teriyaki sauce. Our main dishes were Salmon on a Cedar Plank, Braised Short Rib and I chose the Lobster Roll. The lobster was delish and very fresh. Desserts are made in house and we sampled the Almond Coconut ice cream cake (yum!) and the Banoffee pie (bananas, toffee, whipped cream, etc--) Real nice way to end the meal. Service on our visit was great. There is a parking lot right behind the restaurant on Waller Avenue as well as a garage on the same street. Cool place and worth the visit. read more

The ribeye steak is amazing and cooked to perfection, the temperate is always on point ever time I have come. Got food poisoning. I won't be going here again. We went on a Saturday night for a 9pm reservation. I had the pork chop. It was pretty good tasting, but was a little dry and when I got it it looked like it may have been undercooked. I also had sauteed mushrooms, but my girlfriend had those too and she was fine. She had the butternut squash tortellacci. I also had 1 glass of a french pinot noir that I forget the name of. That was the only alcoholic drink I had all night, so my needing to vomit a couple hours later was not caused by alcohol. Also the service wasn't very good. On arrival we asked for a gluten free menu, he forgot. We ordered drinks, they brought those and then 5-10 minutes later we got his attention and reminded him about the menu. He brought it quickly then. He was also kind of curt and didn't tell us about any specials. Maybe they didn't have any, and maybe we should have asked specifically. But I can't remember the last time I went into a nicer restaurant and they not have any specials. It seemed like he wanted us in and out as quickly as possible. Which I'm sure is true in most cases. The more tables, the more tips, but a waiter shouldn't be exuding that. I can't remember the last time I didn't tip at least 20%. But I tipped 10% this time. Went this evening with my wife and daughter. Food was excellent.... Service was TERRIBLE. A bit of of a wait to take our order and the food came out in a reasonable time but downhill from there. It took us 35 minutes to get the check after we were done eating. And, we ordered another meal to go for our other daughter; we ordered a dish and asked the bacon to be left out but found out later they put the bacon in -- which doesn't work if you are a vegetarian-- a $20 meal wasted. read more

I came here yesterday with a group of friends who were visiting town and they wanted to eat here. I had never been but I know that most of the bars on Mamaroneck Ave aren't worth eating at but I went anyway. We ordered food which took an incredibly long time to come out. The price point for the amount of food you get isn't worth it. I ordered a croque madame which arrived cold, with incredibly tough bread, and over salted breakfast potatoes. My wife's food also came out cold, and over salted. Nobody was very complimentary about the food, our friends opting to not even mention it at the end of the meal. Despite the food being subpar, the ambiance was fine and the service was pretty attentive, but it might be better suited as somewhere to get drinks as opposed to getting brunch. read more

I came here on St. Patrick's day weekend in 2017 for drinks in the back tent and the bartender GAVE AWAY MY CREDIT CARD TO SOMEONE ELSE! This person then went on a spending spree buying almost $500 worth of monthly MTA train passes and luxury private car rentals within hours of my card being given away by Hudson's staff. After correcting the issues with my bank and filing a fraudulent charge claim, I called the restaurant and all I was offered was an apology and that they could only provide me with a free appetizer for my troubles. This was absolutely ridiculous when it happened and the only reason I didn't write this review back then was because I was just over the whole situation. But after scrolling past it again two years later I think it's still important to let people know what happened for their benefit and how dangerous this could have gotten. Shoulder shrug... My companion loved her grilled salmon. I had two small plates -- calamari and "crispy duck wontons." Calamari was fine; the wontons were not. The restaurant seems to have a weird fixation with cream cheese. It was a bit of a surprise, given that we had a meal we really like at their next door restaurant, Lilly's (not that that should have any influence, I acknowledge...) Food Poisoning and Disregard for Food Safety: Shiny on the outside--many, many health code violations in the kitchen, including rodents and insects I used to be a regular at Hudson Grille- like once weekly regular- until last Saturday when both a friend and I who split the crab cake and scallop appetizer both came down with violent food poisoning in the middle of the night and all the next day. When I called the restaurant on Monday morning to speak with someone (I literally could not pick up my phone unnecessarily on Sunday, I was so ill), I was told that someone would call me back after investigating. I received no such phone call and called again that evening, around 7:45. I spoke with a manager Iane who was incredibly terse and unapologetic right off the bat, and informed me that "we don't do that (referring to getting people sick) here" and refused to take responsibility. She did speak with the chef, and tried to kind-of, sort-of put it on the fish distributor, until she refused to take any responsibility at all and basically said that they don't know how we both got sick, but it was not the restaurant's fault. Well, I proceeded to check the health inspection records for Hudson Grill, which can be found on health.data.ny.gov, and they received 10 violations during their most recent inspection in October 2014. This is more than they had ever previously received during a single inspection (they seemed to average 3-5), and the myriad violations included "insects, rodents present" and "food not protected...from potential sources of contamination" and "in use food dispensing utensils improperly stored" among many others. For this restaurant to have the gall, given their myriad health code violations and blatant disregard for food safety or for customer satisfaction, to deny that they have made me and my friend sick is out of control and egregious from a consumer and public safety perspective. Also, not that any establishment has the right to operate in an unsafe and unhygienic manner, but Hudson Grille markets and prices itself as a "high end" bar on the strip with "New American" cuisine. How shameful, then, that they run the kitchen like a filthy hovel and that food safety and restaurant safety standards are not being met. Hudson Grille is far more concerned with its reputation and with covering its own ass than with food safety or customer satisfaction. I will never, ever be going back into this restaurant or bar for any reason. I feel compelled to tell everyone I know about my experience and what I've subsequently learned about the dangerous conditions at Hudson Grille. It is a disgusting, unhealthy, incompetent business that completely lacks integrity and regard for food safety. I did receive a food-borne illness from my (last ever) meal there, and given their history of health code violations, I'm shocked by the response. Eat here at your own risk! read more

We went back to the front to see if there was another table, we were intercepted and told that they were "fully committed" and we would have to wait. To the owner and bouncers (bartender was actually great) next time don't assume that everyone that asks you for help/a favor is trying to bend you over. When someone asks for help finding someone, giving responses like "We lose a lot of girlfriends in here" is a dumb idea especially when you're about 50 years old hanging out with a bunch of 20 somethings. Don't expect a smile in return. Most importantly don't hire Neanderthals who will become physical because they have a bad temper. WPPD should have an eye on the security/bouncers at this place. Went to Hudson Grille last night for my cousin's bachelorette. Dinner and drinks were great. Then the dance crowd rolled in. The DJ needs some help with keeping the tempo up but it was otherwise fun. The worst part of the service there (and really the only bad service we got all night) came from one bartender. Around 1 AM I asked for two tap waters (for myself, the DD, and the bachelorette). He offered me two bottles of water. I repeated my request for tap water. He said bottles were all they had, I said I didn't have any cash on me (tab closed, tight crowd, on the way out), he shrugged his shoulders as if to say tough luck and he put them back in the fridge and walked away from me. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You refuse to give free water at a bar?? I have never in my life experienced this - probably because most people are considerate, moral human beings, except for this gem last night. I turned to the bartender next to him and he provided me with a cup of tap water. Hudson Grille, retrain your staff. It is absolutely unacceptable and unethical to deny people free water at a bar period, much more when they clearly have been there all night with a group that's been drinking. Just awful. I was staying at the Ritz-Carlton with my mom for a girls' weekend/birthday celebration, and was looking for a fun place to have a nice dinner and some drinks. Upon the advice of the concierge, I made a reservation through OpenTable for Saturday night at 7 pm for two. On our way there, my mom and I got a little lost and called the restaurant for directions. The person who answered the phone had NO idea where I was, even though I was on Mamaroneck Avenue (the street the restaurant is on) and just needed to know if I was headed in the right direction. I should have taken that as a very bad sign. When we arrived at the restaurant, I gave my name to the hostess. She got confused and had to check twice for my name... which was one of three listed on the computer screen. We were taken to our table and told that our waitress would be right over. On our way over to the table, I noted that the bar was full (not surprising) but the restaurant had very few occupied tables (surprising). We sat and waited for someone to come over. No one came. I watched a few waitstaff walk by. No one even looked at us. We perused the menu and made small talk while waiting. Another five minutes passed - during that time, four more waitstaff waltzed right by us, along with who I assume was the manager of the restaurant, given that we saw him at the hostess booth upon our arrival and was dressed impeccably in a suit and tie. Finally, my mom spoke up and said that we should leave. I was hesitant, as the menu looked really good and I was getting hungry. But by that point, I was more frustrated than hungry, so I agreed that we should leave. Right when we were getting our bags and standing up, our waitress magically appeared out of nowhere and asked how we were and... were we leaving? I waited for her to ask us to have a seat, she would get us a drink, sorry to keep us waiting... something! Nothing. She looked at us and asked if we we were staying or leaving. The manager walked right behind her as she was talking, and I know he heard. It wasn't that crowded in there. We left. An hour and a half later, I received an email from OpenTable stating that Hudson Grille had cancelled my reservation. Classy. The lack of service and respect for the diner at this establishment is abhorrent. I will not be returning, and will be sure to let everyone I know who is planning a night out in White Plains of my experience. I understand that Hudson Grille is a relatively new restaurant, but good service doesn't come with time - it comes with basic manners. read more

Haven't been to the bar here. The food, however, is an insult to "New American". What I can say is that the time between giving our order and when we received the food was remarkably short. On the other hand, everything tasted like it was hastily prepared and without tasting for seasoning. My date was completely unimpressed with the halibut, which the waiter said was "by far the best dish on the menu" and my orichette with broccoli rabe was covered in so much white wine sauce I almost mistook it for soup. In fact, it tasted like white wine soup. It was so potent with wine and salt that I could only finish about 1/5 of the plate, and I'm not at all a picky eater. The pasta may have been handmade. If it was, that person definitely needs a lesson in pasta making, as it was way too thick and gummy. The rest of the service was slow and awkward, including a shift change where our new waitress apparently needed to be reminded that we were one of her tables. If I come back, it will definitely only be to check out the bar. I'll pass on eating here again. read more

This is one of my most reliable spots. We love the steaks here, and when I recommend the steaks to someone who is in the area looking for a place to get a good steak, I always hear positive things. As I entered Hudson Grille the bouncer asked me to keep my hat off, i obliged as i was meeting some friends for a drink . Found it weird because if your going to implement a policy in an attempt to portray yourself to be an upscale establishment or you find it to be a security threat then stick to your guns, say no hats allowed, i would of gladly went to put it in my car. I was let in without my hat, the place was kinda dead for 11:00 pm on a Friday night, soo I'm sure thats why they let me in, dead night =bend the rules =truly class personified. As i met up with friends it came to my attention that people were leaving there jackets on the side booths which i guess is seating or a coat check not to sure soo they could go out onto the dance floor, once again upscale to the T. This was kinda odd to me being it took up seats for people to sit. So i went to the bar to grab a drink for me and my friend, as i was given the drinks i realized i had my hat in my hand, soo i placed it on my head to free up my hands to hold the drinks that i had just spent money on. As i was receiving the drinks we'll call him Hat Agent 1 pushes me on my arm and signals me to take my hat off, causing one my drink to spill onto my jacket , unfortunate , but didn't want it to ruin my night. Soo as i went back for my second round of drinks i found myself in the same situation, hat in hand, two drinks, i get back to my friends and an employee there we'll call him Hat Agent number 2 , who btw was wearing ....yup you guessed it A HAT! Got very aggressive and told me if i dont take it off he would throw me out, I explained to him i had drinks in my hand that i had just paid for and i put it on my head to hold the drinks. He responded by telling me i should have thrown my hat on the booths/coat check. I responded very frustrated at this point, im holding my drinks i just paid for, you have a hat on so stop harassing me for such a minor thing. His excuse for his hat was "i work here". Just a little advice to Hudson Grille, if you are going to have a dress code, to portray and upscale environment for your guests, then make it universal for everyone who enters including your staff. You are selling an experience, there are drinks everywhere on that strip ,set yourself apart. My friends saw that i was getting frustrated soo i put my two drinks that i had paid for down and decided to leave. As i was walking away to leave you guessed it, i put my hat on. The anti hat brigade themselves decided to get tough and grab me from behind and push me out as if i was an actual security threat, nope just a guy who put his hat on and was leaving, causing an unnecessary scene . Overall, I had a nice brunch here, but there are a few things they could improve on. First, the service which was patchy at best. It took about 15 min for our server to come back to our table after giving us water to take our order for food. We were hungry, so we also asked if he could bring some bread before our entrees came. No such luck, he forgot it. We both ordered drinks. My friend liked hers. I think it was a classic martini. Mine was a little underwhelming. I had a gin drink that had too much cucumber in it. Not as refreshing as I would have liked. Drinks took a little while to come, but the wait wasn't excessive. We had to wait a good while for our entrees, though, and by this point we were starving. I chose the Lox and Eggs. It was pretty good but nothing special. The home fries were also pretty bland. I also left brunch still a little hungry which is never good. Where do I begin, well for starters this is the first time coming here. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the seating arrangement, indoor and outdoor seating areas are available. Two bars are available as well, indoor and outdoor bars. Our server was very friendly and attentive, certainly cannot complain there. We ordered the fried calamari and buffalo chicken wings as appetizers. They both tasted good but the calamari was oily though. For dinner I had the shrimp fettuccine, I was not happy with the dish simply because it didn't have any sauce/flavor or seasoning. My daughter had the chipotle chicken pasta, sauce had the chipotle taste but the chicken was chopped up into tiny pieces and had no flavor. My son had a cheese burger with fries that he enjoyed immensely, it had a bacon infused mayo which he went batshit crazy over. Mom in-law had the short rib dish that she destroyed. Went for brunch on a Sunday. The place was practically empty, but don't let that fool you. The service: on par. The drinks: awesome (we had the apple cider margarita if i remember right...definitely recommend it). The food: delicious. Ordered the tomato bisque soup as an appetizer with the grilled goat cheese sandwiches. The friends I came with and I finished every last spoonful it was that good. There's a lot of competition among the Irish bar-restaurants on the Mamaroneck Avenue strip. Hudson Grille loses points when compared to its neighbor, Lily's, which is under the same ownership and has a more interesting menu. If it's a nice day, sit outside on the patio. On a recent visit, fried calamari arrived in a small portion that could have been hotter. There was a nice ratio of rings to tentacles. I would have liked the option of a fra diavolo sauce, not just the mayonnaise based accompaniment. (I wouldn't call this aioli). A chopped shrimp salad was refreshing on a warm day. A nice sized portion, good greens. My colleague was less than pleased with a portobello sandwich, which he said was oversalted, the same comment he had for the fries. I had a draft Radeberger pils, which came in the proper glass, but seemed small. My colleague enjoyed an IPA recommended by the waiter. Service was very good. There's nothing wrong with Hudson Grille, but I prefer Lily's. read more

VERY GOOD happy hour and brunch spot. Their M-F 4-7pm happy hour is half off the entire cocktail list, which is amazing. Their lobster roll is my favorite variation in Westchester, I can't help but order it every time i dine at Hudson. My wife is obsessed with their eggs Benedict on the weekend brunch menu. Their bartenders are also very friendly, knowledgeable and quick behind the bar. read more

I'm definitely not going to complain about the 5-6 new bars that have popped up on Mamaroneck Ave over the past few months. I've been out of town for a while and, as soon as I come back, Hudson Grille appeared out of nowhere. Anyway, we decided to eat dinner here on a Wednesday night and had a great experience. The interior is very tastefully decorated, with nice lighting and an equally nice dining area. It's a refreshing break from all of the other bars on this block that are essentially the same. Their menu is great, a good selection of different foods, some traditional and some original. I ate with a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed their meal. All in all, Hudson Grille is a great new addition to downtown White Plains. I would totally recommend this place for a date or a nice dinner with friends. read more

One of the best restaurants on Mamaroneck, I'd say. Here's the overview: Decor: I love the dark wood and stone walls. Very comfortable and nicely kept. Plus, there's little candles. I do love little candles. Food: I had the onion soup, which I enjoyed although it could use a little more cheese. The bread in the soup had been toasted and had a grillled flavor that was different in a good way. C had the salmon entree (and I enjoyed some of it too!). I really liked it. A huge piece of salmon with a delicious sauce on top of a sort of potato/apple/bacon mix. I am not a fan of bacon, but it was still fantastic. They have a good wine list and I enjoyed my glass of CA cabernet. Service: Excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, as was the table attendant (aka busser). We went for brunch on a nice Sunday. I was craving lox and wanted to sit outside. The day was perfect for it. Our sever - Manny - was great. Not too attentive and definitely checked on us at regular intervals. When I ordered the lox and eggs, I expected the lox and eggs to be separate. They cooked the lox, which to be honest, I didn't like. But the combination of the plain egg and salty fish was good. The bacon was excellent. I substituted the home fries for veggies which were pretty standard and bland previously frozen stuff. I'd suggest doing a side salad instead. There was a sweet potato waffle on the menu that interest me (being gluten intolerant) but was informed that it wasn't a gluten free option. Too bad. That would have been novel and totally awesome. The portions were large and definitely filling. My fiancé had the brunch burger with avocado which looked amazing and was cooked rare like he'd asked. Fries were good. They had discounted mimosas and drinks which we did not take advantage of. A wonderful brunch on a warm day. I would probably recommend to a friend despite an odd choice or two by the kitchen. A tad expensive for my tastes but probably not for being in the city center. And if the OJ had been fresh, that would have been really nice. read more

I had the Greek sandwich and warm chocolate cake. The sandwich didn't include everything that was on the menu, and the components in the miniature sandwiches were forced out the other end as you ate. What a mess. The chocolate cake was baked a little too long for the center to ooze. The best part of the meal were the french fries which were freshly cut and cooked to perfection. Although the waitress was attentive, the other staff were rude. A couple of the servers walked away before we had a chance to ask them for additional items. Service was also a little slow for lunchtime. The prices were a bit too steep for what we got. However, the restaurant is centrally located in White Plains and the decor is nice. read more
