2.5 stars overall We came here because we were craving bún bò Huế. Unfortunately, did not live up to expectations. The bò né was disappointing. They had run out of bread, which I understand since we came late, so they substituted rice instead. That part wasn't an issue. What was disappointing was that it came without pâté, and it included a sausage link, which didn't feel authentic at all. The bún bò Huế broth was just okay, not terrible, but definitely not memorable. Compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, it doesn't really stand out. We also had the bánh bột lọc and that was pretty good but it also tasted like they bought it frozen and just steamed it. The service was fine. The staff took our order, and they weren't rude, but there wasn't anything particularly noteworthy about the experience. The only real positive is that they're open late, which is convenient if you're craving Vietnamese food after most places have closed. One thing I also noticed was that, despite being located in Grand Century Mall near Vietnam Town, there weren't any Vietnamese or other Asian customers while we were there. It gave me the impression that the food may be geared more toward a broader American palate than toward traditional Vietnamese flavors. Overall, I wouldn't come back. A lot of tendons but the texture varies. Some were just right, but some were hard. Thai tea: 4.5/5. Great tea flavor. Just a bit too much ice for that price and size. Service? None. Other than taking orders and putting the food on the table, there was no service. Fork and napkins were not provided with Bo Ne. We had to ask for it. Iced water weee not served right away. The wagyu beef pho with thick noodles yum. The beef was so soft and tender and the broth went really well with it with the lemon and herbs. The waiter wasn't the nicest, and welcoming with our kids but the food was decent. I like that they have a tendon pho because my kids love tendon but it wasn't that soft. We also had the mochi wrapped in leaf appetizer. It was okay. The ambiance was nice, and it was clean. I'm not sure for the prices and portions that I would come often. One orange juice was $8.25! Has a modern touch to the decoration and kitchen dinnerwares. The services were kind and quick. Bright out the drinks and food in a mannerly time. Pretty much your standard Pho place in SF. Nothing memorable but if you're craving Pho, this is a decent place with plenty of parking outside after 1pm on work days. If you pay cash, you get 3% of which means a $67 order for 2 will cost $65. The Bun Bo Hue was good but broth was flavored enough for me. The pork blood was perfect though. The free drink sign caught my attention. Once inside, the Wagyu Pho did too. Wagyu Pho was a deconstructed version where everything came out separate. It came with a bubbling broth in a stone/ceramic pot. The heat didnt last too long though so it took a while to cook the wagyu afterwards. I recommend adding the entire wagyu in the pot in the beginning and let it cook. The Bun Bo Hue was good but nothing spectacular either. I LOVE pho so I was so excited to come to Pho Nhat Minh after checking out the great reviews. My sister and I had breakfast here and there were already so many regulars there! It was served warm, and it brought back nostalgic feelings of how my parents used to prepare it. It's one of the few places I know that does this. * Eggrolls: not the best I've had, but I enjoyed the filling. It contains mushrooms, vermicelli, taro?, and a pork/shrimp mix. It had a stronger shrimp flavor but was subtle overall. * Pho: the broth was good, with plentiful protein and all the necessary herbs. * Bun Bo Hue: delicious! The broth was flavorful and not too heavy. I ordered the oxtail version. Was it worth it? Probably not. I'd stick with the regular, as the oxtail was lackluster and mostly bone. I was craving bun Bo hue, the place I normally go was closed. I found this place on Yelp, so I decided to give it a try. I'm rating it a 3 because the soup wasn't good. I was so disappointed. The flavor was bland and it was missing the pork hock, tendon some other meat. It only had three slice of beef shank and two slices of Chả lụa. The service was okay! Solid spot for pho, especially considering it's the only pho restaurant in this plaza, so not much competition. Their wagyu pho is one of their specialties, so I ordered that. It holds its heat well throughout the meal, so no need to worry about it being cool down mid way. They had free drinks for promo, so you can choose either a soda, Thai tea, or iced coffee. I also ordered their rare steak/meatball pho and their own version of pho (pho nhat minh). Both were good as well. They had a fair amount of customers inside when I went for lunch. Wagyu beef stone hot pot #2 ($21.99)! Say no more! This caught my eye as broth comes out in a sizzling HOTTTT stone pot, bowl of noodles (fresh or regular thin noodles), a plate of slice wagyu and dish of fresh basil, beansprouts, jalapenos, and lemon. I also like how they don't charge you more for fresh noodles as I know some other pho places do. The plate had a generous amounts of wagyu and it was fun to dip it in the mouth watering sizzling pot. You do have to dip it right away so it can cook or else the pot will cool down and you'll just end up with slightly chewy raw meat. I ended up slurping the broth! It was that tasty! We also ordered #1 ($18.49), which was the Pho Nhat Minh that had a little bit of everything in it. The bowl was filled to the top with different slices of meats, and broth was delicious. They have a promotion now for a free drink: coffee, thai tea, or soda. This was good because after sweating trying to eat my pho, I needed a cool me down. Came by for dinner the other night and it was a quick and easy experience. Parking was plentiful in the private lot although there were derelicts hanging out in the strip mall. The Gen Z front of the house staff wore an apron and loose nitrile gloves. Ordered the bun bo hue with Oxtail and it came out within minutes. Interestingly, the restaurant was quite warm as the A/C wasn't turned on and the doors were closed. The bun Bo Hue itself was a big bowl of soup with some noodles, a couple pieces of pretty hard to chew oxtails, along with a few pieces each of meat loaf, pork, and tendons. There are so many phở restaurants in San Jose that it's hard to keep track of. This one came on my radar because it appeared in a search for the American Airlines Dining Rewards Program, allowing me to net 5x airline miles per dollar in addition to my usual credit card earnings. It's a small, unassuming shop with minimal service. That is to say, they take your order and then bring your food. They don't check on you but will come if you flag them down. That's par for the course at a typical Vietnamese restaurant so I'm not dinging them for it. The first thing that struck me when looking at the menu was the higher cost of a bowl of phở. Maybe my sense of things is off. I still remember a bowl of phở being sub-$10 as a kid. But these days, I think you can find a bowl of phở for around $15 or thereabouts. Here, it's $18-$20, depending on your cuts of meat. And to be fair, they do offer some special cuts beyond the standard "phở đặc biệt" cuts. I was committed to earning my airline miles though, so I ordered an $18 bowl of phở. Despite the sticker shock, I was pleasantly surprised. The broth was good and the meat was good. Overall, I felt the food was quality and the higher prices manageable if a meal hear helps me get closer to my next free flight. read more

My initial thought was that $21 for wagyu and soup in a stone pot is too much however, the portion was great, the broth taste almost like how my mom makes it, and both their fresh noodles and regular noodles were good quality. My mom got #18, they have really good portions for the price and we loved the chewiness of the al dente rice noodle. There was no wait when I got there and the service was normal. It's the only pho place I go to now. The dishes do take some time to prepare, which speaks to the quality and freshness of the food, but something to consider during busy hours. There is plenty of seating and comfortable for large groups. My favorites dishes have been the Bún Bò Huế (pork/beef) and Phở Hải Sản (seafood). The flavors are incredible. Decent amount of meat and a big chunk of tendon. The wagyu one I'm unsure, since it wasn't my dish. So they could've left the meat in too long but it tasted just the same as regular rare steak. It does come with a boil stone bowl and a plate of the meat in the side for you to add. Maybe if it was don't like shabu shabu and swished for a few secs it'd taste better. But it does seem like you are suppose to just dump everything into the soup and eat. Pho ga I didn't try but people I was with had no complaints. Imma say Pho Nhat Minh is a hole in the wall gem! And I mean that in the best way. This place is all about the pho--no flashy appetizers or rice plates, just rich, flavorful, deeply satisfying pho. They do have a few smoothies, though, and I really enjoyed the avocado one. That was a nice surprise--definitely not a flavor you see every day. I had the filet mignon pho, and the broth was incredible. I drank the entire bowl. As any true pho fan knows, it's all about the broth, and this one delivered. Someone else in our group ordered the Wagyu beef pho, which was a showstopper. It comes in a hot pot-style bowl with thin slices of raw Wagyu served on the side. You dip and cook the beef and noodles yourself--kind of like a fusion of pho and Japanese/Chinese hot pot. Super creative, and more importantly, insanely tasty. It's the only one that comes in the style. Service is good, they're attentive anyway. Though it took a long time to get my smoothie, even after the pho arrived! We were hanging out nearby at Emma Prusch Farm Park and decided to check this spot out for dinner. We ordered the Wagyu pho, chicken pho, spring rolls (not pictured) and egg rolls. The young man who took our order gave us an option of thick or regular pho noodles and we each got a free drink (coffee, Thai tea or soda) for dining in. I was able to get 3 coffees to go.
