My family and I love this restaurant. When we come for a weekend lunch, there's almost always a line. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is modern, typically noisy and familial, and has great customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We usually order the cơm tấm đặc biệt or pho.. The portions are large, which matches the price. The meat is tender and fresh in the rice meal. I like ordering the thick noodles for the pho. I would recommend this restaurant for foodies wanting to try Vietnamese food.

Com Tam Thien Huong is the best place for com tam in San Jose! Parking is easy since there's plenty of spaces in the big lot. There seems to always be a line, but that is expected due to the popularity. There's so many items on the menu, but they are all combinations of different meats and sides. Multiple other Vietnamese entrees are offered in case if com tam doesn't pique your interest. The beef bbq ribs are always juicy and tender. It falls off the bone cleanly! The chicken soup is a nice additional provided side. The rice isn't overly dry. They do offer a small discount if you pay with cash. Definitely will be back soon if I'm craving com tam. There's no other place like this one!

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent, despite slightly chaotic experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parking was available in the strip mall although it was odd the parking lot was very smokey, coming from what I think was the restaurant's cooking hood...interesting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were diners waiting outside during the lunch rush. Each table was taken and staff wearing uniforms and disposable gloves did their best to take orders, bring out water, and bus tables. They seem to have a special for a $13.95 Pho. Opted for the fresh noodles and they were tasty. Broth was flavorful too. The meats were quite fresh, flavorful, and tender. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oddly enough, there was a sign requesting not to put feet on chairs...not sure if this was cultural.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ...I think I also saw a sign about a slightly discount for paying cash.

Food: food always hits here! We always get the #70 or #73 because it has a variety of all the meats and proteins! Service: everyone was so attentive and quick with service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance: lively and packed on a weekday around 6pm![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Quick take: this place is poppin' Very good rice plates. The pho looked good too. Came here on a Saturday before 11:30am. Put my name on the waitlist. It's busy! Service is very good. Food comes out fast!

For sure one of the best pho spots I have been to. The soup is very clean and very flavorful and they put a lot of meat and it was under $14 in this day. That is really good and I got a meat plate the barbecue riblets fully loaded. I will put the picture of the plate. It was huge. My girlfriend got the barbecue chicken plate, which she also enjoyed and wasn't able to finish due to it being very big and the service was great. Drinks came fast. They brought water checked on us definitely a must try if you're looking for some good pho.

One of my favorite go to pho places! It's very affordable and the quality never disappoints! Pho Tai (10/10): Ever since I discovered they have thick noodles, I've been getting it ever since! The broth is so good and not really fatty which is nice. The meat is tender and they give a pretty good amount. Service (10/10): They're pretty quick with order taking and passing the food out. Not much talking, but I don't mind. I like that they get right to the point!

The best place in SJ for com tam! We've been coming here for years and it never disappoints when I'm craving broken rice. Very customizable so there is something for everyone. RECS: + Com tam bi thit nuong ($20.95, 5/5 stars) is my go-to, and I like to add on tau hu ky or chao tom if I'm in the mood for it. Their thit nuong is one of my favorites!

This was my second visit with my friends. If you have a hankering for com tam, it's not a bad spot to go. The food is good and the portions are generous. However, I think the prices have gone up recently... I ordered the bbq chicken plate (65?) and it came with all the fixings. Food comes out relatively quickly, but we had to ask a second waiter for our waters. This place gets busy, so oftentimes expect a wait! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's otherwise a clean and modern restaurant to enjoy lunch or dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Let me start off with I love going to this place. Every time I drop my pups off at Quality pet spot I come here for lunch as well as other times. I always get their Togo plates too. I've been coming here since their grand opening. When the pho was $11.95. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today I was so disappointed. I found a cockroach on the floor and it took them forever to clean it up after I even let them know about it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also I almost slipped on the floor on my way out of the bathroom. It's the floor between the tile and the rug. It's so oily and slippery[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food is still good but I'm a little concerned about their cleanliness.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Com Tam with bbq pork, egg cake and shredded pork skin.
    Ed Y.

Decent place for com tam and less crowded than the Little Saigon branch. The price is actually slightly higher than other com tam places. Service is super quick and parking is in the shopping center. Traffic is usually bad near the main street going into the plaza. Food is decent and choices can be overwhelming but if it's your first time just choose the more expensive com tam on the menu. I normally choose the pork chop + egg cake. I accidentally chose bbq pork not the pork chop but it's still good. Service is quick and place is clean enough. No complaints tbh.

It also comes with the whole rice paper wrap setup, where you can grab rice paper and efficiently dip it in water to soften it up. I love that the dipping sauce is in a giant bowl, composed of the classic fish sauce concoction with sugar and some garlic and optional chili. A local friend from San Jose took me here as it's the only place his family ,(originally from Vietnam) will go out to eat. After trying their Bun Moc I see why? Between Saigon and Hanoi, I went on a full-blown bánh cuốn quest, trying different spots almost daily. Street stalls, little hole-in-the-wall shops, famous spots--you name it. At some point I stopped being a tourist and became a rice-roll inspector. So yeah... my standards are unfortunately very high now. The best bánh cuốn I had in Vietnam was paper thin and almost translucent, with this delicate chew that somehow breaks apart and melts in your mouth. That's the texture I'm chasing. Coming back here, the rice sheets were noticeably thicker and didn't have that same delicate texture. They also weren't as fresh and warm as I remembered, which makes a huge difference with bánh cuốn. This is one of those dishes that's at its best when the sheets are freshly steamed and hit your table warm. The meat filling was also underwhelming and not nearly as flavorful or savory as another bánh cuốn spot I've had in San Jose. With a dish this simple, there's nowhere to hide--the rice sheet, filling, freshness and nước mám chấm (fish sauce) all have to work together. It's certainly not bad, and I can understand why people enjoy it. But after eating my way through Saigon and Hanoi in pursuit of the perfect bánh cuốn, this one is kinda meh for me now. My old review gave this place 4 stars. Vietnam ruined me.

We've probably eaten here 50+ times with family and friends, and one thing I can say is that they are 100% consistent. We've never had a bad meal here. There's a great variety of Vietnamese dishes, so everyone can usually find something they like. The chả cá (fish) is one of their popular dishes and a favorite. They also have good chicken phở, broken rice, vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, roll-your-own options, and plenty of soups beyond phở. You can order individual dishes or share family-style, which makes it especially easy when coming with a group. It's very casual, family-friendly, quick, and straightforward--nothing fancy and probably not where I'd choose for a date night. But for a dependable meal with family or friends, it's a great spot. Kids like it, parents like it, and my mom likes it--which says a lot coming from an older Vietnamese person who knows her Vietnamese food! The staff is always efficient and nice, and after all these years, the food remains consistently good. The biggest downside is parking. The entire shopping center has become so busy with restaurants that finding a spot can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Also, keep in mind they do not take credit cards. Bring cash, or you can pay electronically through options such as Zelle/Venmo. Overall, this is one of those longtime neighborhood restaurants we keep coming back to because we know exactly what we're going to get: good Vietnamese food, plenty of choices, friendly service, and consistency.

The broth made a good first impression and clearly included many of the right spices, although it was also quite salty. As I got further into the bowl, however, the flavor started to feel flat and lacked the rich, slow-simmered depth I expect from a restaurant that specializes in this dish. It tasted more heavily seasoned than deeply developed, so experienced bún bò Huế fans may find it underwhelming. The meat was also not as tender as I would have liked, and the congealed blood--usually my favorite part--was overcooked and dry rather than smooth and tender. The visible holes suggested it may have been cooked too quickly at too high a temperature. I found it very rude and uncomfortable because I really don't like strangers touching me. The older lady did it to everyone in our table, and she didn't seem to realize she was making our entire group uncomfortable, and it affected our whole dining experience. So, would I come back? Absolutely not. One visit was more than enough. I'm not willing to deal with that kind of pushy service again.
