Beef BBQ Rib
Leslie C.

Com Tam Thien Huong is the best place for com tam in San Jose! Parking is easy since there's plenty of spaces in the big lot. There seems to always be a line, but that is expected due to the popularity. There's so many items on the menu, but they are all combinations of different meats and sides. Multiple other Vietnamese entrees are offered in case if com tam doesn't pique your interest. The beef bbq ribs are always juicy and tender. It falls off the bone cleanly! The chicken soup is a nice additional provided side. The rice isn't overly dry. They do offer a small discount if you pay with cash. Definitely will be back soon if I'm craving com tam. There's no other place like this one!

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent, despite slightly chaotic experience. Parking was available in the strip mall although it was odd the parking lot was very smokey, coming from what I think was the restaurant's cooking hood...interesting. There were diners waiting outside during the lunch rush. Each table was taken and staff wearing uniforms and disposable gloves did their best to take orders, bring out water, and bus tables. They seem to have a special for a $13.95 Pho. Opted for the fresh noodles and they were tasty. Broth was flavorful too. The meats were quite fresh, flavorful, and tender. Oddly enough, there was a sign requesting not to put feet on chairs...not sure if this was cultural. ...I think I also saw a sign about a slightly discount for paying cash.

Quick take: this place is poppin' Very good rice plates. The pho looked good too. Came here on a Saturday before 11:30am. Put my name on the waitlist. It's busy! Service is very good. Food comes out fast!

For sure one of the best pho spots I have been to. The soup is very clean and very flavorful and they put a lot of meat and it was under $14 in this day. That is really good and I got a meat plate the barbecue riblets fully loaded. I will put the picture of the plate. It was huge. My girlfriend got the barbecue chicken plate, which she also enjoyed and wasn't able to finish due to it being very big and the service was great. Drinks came fast. They brought water checked on us definitely a must try if you're looking for some good pho.

One of my favorite go to pho places! It's very affordable and the quality never disappoints! Pho Tai (10/10): Ever since I discovered they have thick noodles, I've been getting it ever since! The broth is so good and not really fatty which is nice. The meat is tender and they give a pretty good amount. Service (10/10): They're pretty quick with order taking and passing the food out. Not much talking, but I don't mind. I like that they get right to the point!

It was a good meal. I would like to come back and try other food items. The restaurant had great decorations and service was friendly.

The best place in SJ for com tam! We've been coming here for years and it never disappoints when I'm craving broken rice. Very customizable so there is something for everyone. RECS: + Com tam bi thit nuong ($20.95, 5/5 stars) is my go-to, and I like to add on tau hu ky or chao tom if I'm in the mood for it. Their thit nuong is one of my favorites!

This was my second visit with my friends. If you have a hankering for com tam, it's not a bad spot to go. The food is good and the portions are generous. However, I think the prices have gone up recently... I ordered the bbq chicken plate (65?) and it came with all the fixings. Food comes out relatively quickly, but we had to ask a second waiter for our waters. This place gets busy, so oftentimes expect a wait! It's otherwise a clean and modern restaurant to enjoy lunch or dinner.

Let me start off with I love going to this place. Every time I drop my pups off at Quality pet spot I come here for lunch as well as other times. I always get their Togo plates too. I've been coming here since their grand opening. When the pho was $11.95. Today I was so disappointed. I found a cockroach on the floor and it took them forever to clean it up after I even let them know about it. Also I almost slipped on the floor on my way out of the bathroom. It's the floor between the tile and the rug. It's so oily and slippery. The food is still good but I'm a little concerned about their cleanliness.

Com Tam with bbq pork, egg cake and shredded pork skin.

Decent place for com tam and less crowded than the Little Saigon branch. The price is actually slightly higher than other com tam places. Service is super quick and parking is in the shopping center. Traffic is usually bad near the main street going into the plaza. Food is decent and choices can be overwhelming but if it's your first time just choose the more expensive com tam on the menu. I normally choose the pork chop + egg cake. I accidentally chose bbq pork not the pork chop but it's still good. Service is quick and place is clean enough. No complaints tbh.

Came back 2 years later because my mom wanted to go back. 3.5 but will round up to 4. It got better. The com tam here is pretty good and large portion for the price for Bay Area standards. Also enjoyed the pho's meaty broth though there is a good amount of msg in there. The wait was so long for my com tam again. By the time my mom and husband finished their pho the com tam was here! I was really hungry so that was disappointing lol. I got the assorted mix that came with chicken, pork cake, shrimp cakes and more. Definitely had leftovers!

The com tam here is sooooo gassss I ate the whole plate barely even breathing or looking up to talk to my family

The mam tom had a strong flavor (as expected), but it was balanced well and tasted authentic. We also ordered the cha ca La Vong, which came out sizzling and fragrant with plenty of dill and turmeric flavor. Mixing it with the noodles, herbs, and peanuts made for a great combination of textures and flavors. Portions were generous, service was friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly even though the restaurant was busy. It's not always easy to find Vietnamese dishes like these done well in the South Bay, so I was happy to find a spot that delivers. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.

It's a grilled tumeric fish dish that packs a ton of flavor, and you add noodles and herbs to make a delish spring roll (or in my case a fat burrito). It comes out on a sizzling plate so you have to let it cook a bit to render the onions and dill to get that perfect texture. The sauce might be a bit fishy to some, but it's what ties the bite together! It's def an acquired taste, but if you are open to trying new things, please come try this speciality dish. Tip: on Wednesdays, this dish is only $28, whereas the OG price is around $36. The fried rice here was surprisingly super flavorful! You can taste the separate grains (which is when you know the cook on the rice is good) and the salt levels were top tier. I would come back and get this togo if I was too lazy to create my own food with the spring rolls. Overall, you are here for the food, not the service and decor. I would love to try one of the soup dishes as the pictures on the wall made it look so enticing

If you can't find parking in that plaza, there's more parking across the road where the Target is. After spending about ten minutes on the written wait-list, our names were called. It's definitely a little easier communicating with much of the staff if you speak Vietnamese, and I find that waiting right outside the restaurant is best because they default to calling your name from the door once it's your turn. The interior is crammed with tables; the atmosphere feels busy and warm. There is a single room women's bathroom and men's bathroom in the back as well. The decor leans toward being classic more than trendy, which I liked. The menu is pretty big, offering a variety of items ranging from mainstream Vietnamese options to ones I don't encounter as often. I recommend eating family-style for many of these dishes, including the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which I enjoyed with my partner. The prices are pretty average, and their portions are generous. That said, they are cash or Zelle only. There is an ATM that you can use if you forget to bring cash, but this is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back. I wish I had the stomach capacity to try more of their dishes at once, and I 100% recommend that anyone give this place a shot.

I noticed cobwebs that appeared to have been hanging in place for a long time, along with dirt and grime collecting in corners throughout the dining room. Even the menus felt sticky, with a visible film of grease and small food particles still clinging to them. The faded print and worn condition made them look as though they hadn't been replaced in years. Those details created an impression of neglect that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. With a thorough deep cleaning and some updated menus, this restaurant could create a much more welcoming dining experience. Until then, the cleanliness issues overshadow what was otherwise an average meal.
