This is my favorite place for rice plates in san jose. I usually get #71. The plate comes with a side of chicken soup, pork chop, fried fish cake, shrimp roll, egg mix, and some pickled carrots. The fried fish cake is crispy on the outside which compliments the rest of the other sides. The shrimp roll also has a bamboo inside! The dish is overall filled with many flavors, and the quality is super good. The portion size is pretty big too so I always end up packing mines to go, but definitely worth the price! The place is always packed when I go, so you should expect a wait during peak hours like the afternoon. The service is nicer and friendly, but you normally have to flag them down if you need something. Otherwise you can always ask the front if you need containers or to check out. read more

Love going here with my family. It's always a hit. I always get the broken rice with egg cake, shredded pork skin, and grilled bbq pork. It comes with a small soup and dipping fish sauce. Com Tam Thien Huong is the best place for com tam in San Jose! Parking is easy since there's plenty of spaces in the big lot. There seems to always be a line, but that is expected due to the popularity. There's so many items on the menu, but they are all combinations of different meats and sides. Multiple other Vietnamese entrees are offered in case if com tam doesn't pique your interest. The beef bbq ribs are always juicy and tender. It falls off the bone cleanly! For sure one of the best pho spots I have been to. The soup is very clean and very flavorful and they put a lot of meat and it was under $14 in this day. This place deserves at least 4-5 stars. We were visiting SJ and our friend told us about this place. We got there around 11:30 am. on a weekday. Thank goodness we got there early because there were many people waiting to be seated when we left around 12:45 pm. First of all, the service was excellent. Fast and attentive. Secondly, their prices were more than fair. In fact, where we live in WA, a large bowl of pho is now $19!! Here at this restaurant, their large bowl of pho was only $13!!! Decent place for com tam and less crowded than the Little Saigon branch. The price is actually slightly higher than other com tam places. Service is super quick and parking is in the shopping center. Traffic is usually bad near the main street going into the plaza. Food is decent and choices can be overwhelming but if it's your first time just choose the more expensive com tam on the menu. I normally choose the pork chop + egg cake. I accidentally chose bbq pork not the pork chop but it's still good. Service is quick and place is clean enough. No complaints tbh. read more

I arrived before another customer, yet they allowed the person who came after me to be server first while I was left waiting. No one apologized or explain to me the situation. I came here with my family and we ordered the rice plates #51, #55, and my mom ordered the rice noodles. The drinks came first but it was sweet to the very max when my sister had ordered very little sweet. She ordered this drink before (Coconut Milk w/ Lychee Jelly) so she knew they made it wrong, and asked if they could remake it to less sweet. The young guy who was working there listened to our concern and then the older lady popped out of nowhere who I believe is the one in charge came over since she saw us holding the drink and talking to the worker. The young guy explained to the older lady that we said we ordered less sweet and the lady confirmed what he did and he said to her that he didn't know he wasn't supposed to add more sugar and she told him no you don't need to add sugar in this. Then she turned to face us and lied to our faces and said it was premade like this, but we literally just overhead the conversation that the worker had made a mistake that resulted in him unknowingly adding more sugar than he's supposed to and she would not allow him to fix the drinks. My sister had politely requested that if they can't fix the sweetness then she would like to have it replaced with a different drink. She would not allow it and argued back that she could only add ice in the drink to make it less sweet and could not give a different drink in place of. Later on my mom's rice noodles came out and it was cold. . Like from the fridge cold. She had to go ask them to reheat it since the food was too cold to eat. The drinks were a VERY EASY and VERY CHEAP fix to keep the customers happy but I guess the lady in charge didn't care and was not willing to take accountability towards the mistake. The rice plates were good, but the service was such a let down and huge disappointment, it left such a sour taste in our mouths-- other customers also looked over to see what was going on and saw how our table kept having issues. Com tam thien huong is a staple here in SJ for Viet food, especially com tam dishes. We came here on Saturday afternoon and luckily only waited 30 minutes before being seated. The menu can be overwhelming to look at since you can basically customize and make different combinations of proteins/add ons with your rice plates. To make it easier for first timers (and even for me), I recommend ordering special rice combinations! Every side was seasoned perfectly and adding the nuoc mam/fish sauce to each bite was a perfect touch. Most of the dishes contain shrimp, so if you're allergic, I recommend ordering the shredded pork and BBQ meat rice plate or hainan chicken rice plate. Our friends ordered the hainan chicken rice plate and she said it was delicious, noting the sauces complemented the chicken well. Additionally while I can't speak for all their drinks, the strawberry smoothie was probably one of the best we've had so far from Viet restaurants. read more

I usually go to the VN town location since it's close to my home. But ended up here for dinner with friends. I have never tried their pho, but it seems to be popular since they're always advertising their pho. I think it might be the cheapest in San Jose too (under $15). Their pho was good actually!
