Great alternative to IHOP across the street for breakfast. Big menu, interesting options. Family run, friendly and helpful. The fruit was delicious and fresh--the omelet well prepared with lots of fresh vegetables. I gave 5 stars because I want to encourage people to visit! I love small family run places where people really care. This quaint diner has a large menu and the service was friendly and fast. The food was delicious! At our table , we ordered a turkey club, a Reuben sandwich both very generous in size. Also ordered a deluxe hamburger. All things were tasty and satisfying. Ordered potato salad as on of the sides and it was handmade deliciousness. It had a small amount of small chopped apple in it. Very nice subtle surprise. The location is just off the freeway so was a perfect stopover before getting back on the road. My mother and I went here because she was absolutely famished after getting out of the hospital. That was a year ago. We went this morning to "celebrate" her having made it through the crisis. I was proud of her, she polished off a big omelet and said it was very good. I had a chicken sandwich and also liked it very much. It seems to be a popular and reliable place. We ran into one of my mom's neighbors who says she goes there a lot. She said she has never gotten a bad meal. It doesn't look like much, and it's not fancy, but they will feed you well. Mom and pop-type small strip-mall cafe and we loved it. My wife and kids had pancakes (wife added blueberries) with eggs and I had the French toast. A side of hash browns to share (although we probably didn't need it) - just what the road trip ordered. Super friendly and when the people in front of us didn't need menus because the locals know what they want, it is a good sign. I did see some asian fusion options and thought it was pretty cool. My breakfast here was pretty good. I'd come back. Traffic was heavy on the December 27th so we pulled out and found this lovely diner. Sweet & efficient service. We had a Ham on Rye and the Garden Salad. Delicious ! They made it nice and crispy. Eggs were fluffy not over cooked. Fruit was fresh! I got my order to go and everything was perfect- came with all the condiments you could ask for, perfect amount of utensils for each dish, bread came separate from meal so as not to get soggy, and fruit was handed to me separate from main dish so as not to get warm if I didn't want that. And I didn't have to ask!!! The service was impeccable, very friendly local store. I would definitely come back. My son and I stopped for breakfast on our way out of town. We stopped because it had good reviews on yelp. I am sorry but the service was slow, the food was served warm at best. We received our toast 30 minutes prior to our breakfast being served. The bacon was soggy the portions were very small not to mention the cold toast, it said 3 eggs it looked like one egg. I double checked the Yelp reviews and sure enough, they do serve breakfast. We were greeted with a nice smile and seated immediately. We were a little reluctant to come for breakfast because no one was in the restaurant when we arrived. OMG! I'm so glad we did. The food was delicious and plentiful. It was some of the best chorizo and eggs I've had in a very long time. My husband's fried rice had lots of little veggies in it and was super tasty. It came with a big bowl of fresh fruit. We found this place on one of our camping trips to Carpenteria. The place is definitely small and the crew was welcoming. But once we sat down they kind of forgot about us and we were sitting at the counter!!! They were busy so I didn't give it much thought. The staff works really well together and the cooks really hustle. I overt heard the cooks interacting with the guests. I think the name of the place is very deceiving as they really don't have any Mexican food except for a chorizo burrito which they serve without beans. I ordered the biscuits and gravy for $9.50. Momster and I stopped here after driving up from L. A. for a girls' weekend. It took a minute to find it (Dang GPS and old age), but I'm glad we did. It's a neighborhood joint...you can tell by the customers. They were doing a brisk take-out business when we were there. Everyone was friendly and kept the coffee flowing. Mom ordered pancakes, eggs and something else...I had the corned beef hash. It was all tasty and reasonably priced. Aside from the food being good, the facility itself was very clean. There are plexiglass barriers between the booths, and the smaller tables have been removed. We are two "women of a certain age" with underlying conditions, and felt completely safe in the environment. It felt good to have a meal and be relaxed.
