Went with a friend around 5PM on a Friday and had the whole diner to ourselves until people started trickling in for dinner time. The interior is what Instagram is made for and the food is fantastic. I got a Philly cheesesteak with fries for $9 (HIGHLY recommend, so soft and flavorful) and my friend got the dinner portion of the chicken fried steak for $11 (portions are gigantic but it does start to get soggy with gravy after a while, so get gravy on the side if you can). Pies are $5.99 a slice and the chocolate one is heavenly! It's quite a bit so I would share it! read more

I am shocked I am giving a place I read great reviews about, saw on a nationally syndicated tv show, and talked about as such a great place a 1 star. First: Walking in, I had NO IDEA where the entrance to this place was, nor where to park, SUPER CONFUSING. Second: Once my wife & I entered the building, some lady just yelled at us "2, sit here" and pointed at the bar with super small stools, while there was still booths open. We sat down, were given greasy, torn menus. Had to ask for another menu. A college kid with his underwear sticking out every time he turned around asked us what we wanted to drink, he took our order and we also got the Cheese Fries w/Bacon. Cheese Fries with Bacon? Sounds excellent! What we got.... a serving of frozen old fries with fatty bacon slices and cold cheese. Worst Cheese fries I've ever eaten. Dinner: I got the famous "Diners Drive n Dives" philly cheese steak. Reminds me of frozen beef, with the same old fries, unseasoned beef, it had no onions, no red peppers, it had cheese and Philly steak. (nothing special) I pointed on the menu to the guy and he said I guess the chef forgot the rest, I said don't worry I'll eat this. My wife got an omelet, omelet was cooked properly, but her potatoes? Tasted like biting into a baking soda filled potato which has been frozen for months and not properly seasoned. We chose not to stay for dessert as to sad disappointment this place turned out to be for us. We checked out the bar which was way cool except the fact it smelt like dirty rotten bar dishes, and years of neglect of cleaning. I guess they live off the reputation of the Diners Drive n Dives show, but since then... if it was amazing, it , at least MY EXPERIENCE/OPINION of this place is horrible. Would never recommend, nor go back. Funny thing was at the end, our waiter came by and said: was everything good, how was everything??? I apologize in advance for the length of this review, but I wanted to do my best to explain in full my dining experience this morning. We arrived at 11am, and put our party of three down at 11:05am. We were quoted 45 minutes to an hour for the wait this morning. A little under an hour in, I decided to check what the status was. I let him know what the party name was and he asked how many were in our party. The question was unsettling because it appeared as if it hadn't been written down before. Regardless, I had to repeat my question because I wasn't given an answer, just that our party was down in the books. He responded by letting me know 10 tables were in front of us. It's important to add that at this point, two parties of two who arrived before us had been seated. I mention this to the lady who joins the gentleman at the host stand during our conversation and she tells me in a condescending manner (with a smile), that there are bar stools that can accommodate only two people and our party is for three. I tell her I'm aware of that, I was just curious if that was the case. Twenty minutes later I check in again, and we are informed seven tables are ahead of our party. About thirty minutes from then we check in and we are told, we're almost up, only three tables are ahead of us. During this time another party of two who arrived after us has been seated. We had told the host at the beginning we were willing to be seated anywhere, wherever is quickest. So I'm not exactly sure if there was a miscommunication or if the host just disregarded our request. That being said, we get a text at 12:56 but, we don't hear the notification over the live music. So we didn't actually get seated until we walked up to the host stand almost ten minutes later when I checked my phone at hearing another text. It's important to note that both hosts are perhaps 15 paces away from us and we are directly in front of them. It's more than worth mentioning, that the musician who plays live music here is amazing. He made the extreme wait time bearable and was the only reason we didn't leave after being misquoted by an hour. In fact, after our breakfast/lunch here, my father pointed out that he would only return here to have a beer and listen to this guy play. Now back to the host. The gentleman walks us to the door of the diner, opens it, and tells us "You'll be the second table on the right" and then walks away after we've entered. It doesn't seem like a big deal, and it isn't, but I think it's odd that the hosts do not even walk you to your table. The menus and utensils are in a pile on the table, and we sit down. Our server is great. She's pleasant and working hard on several tables at once. She gets our drink and food order after she greets us, and we are excited at the prospect of food soon being in our bellies. It's during the down time as we wait for our food, that we looks around the diner. The diner is quaint; a real nice old-school diner. But it hasn't been kept up with at all, which takes away from the aesthetic. You can tell that several small repairs would make it look much nicer, from just replacing some of the ceiling tiles, to getting some steel wool and cleaning the leg of the bar stools. It's just an unfortunate thing to notice when you're waiting on your food. It's also apparent that the floors need to be cleaned, which I don't notice, but my mother does. Two hours and 40 minutes after we arrived, we finally have our food set in front of us. It looks great, but unfortunately my mother doesn't enjoy her eggs because they aren't cooked as she requested, and my fathers fries are cold. I lucked out, and my burger is superb, with nice warm fries which are crispy and yummy! We went to this diner because I had been here before on a Sunday morning, was quoted an hour wait time, we waited a little bit over an hour and had some mimosas while we listening to music. The food was great and so was the service. It culminated in a very enjoyable morning with a good friend. Unfortunately my experience today couldn't have been more different. Both my father and mother who were visiting weren't impressed with the food, the diners cleanliness and least of all the host staff's lack of apology over the two hour wait time. I can say with no hesitation that this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. If it hadn't been for the live music during the wait, and the great service, we would never consider coming back to this place. This is the first review I've ever written on yelp and it's because I want to warn future diners that you should come here before you're hungry, and drink some alcohol while you wait, otherwise you may have a very tainted experience. TL;DR We were quoted up to an hour wait, ended up having to wait more than 2 hours to be sat. 2 hours 45 minutes in we received our food. The rents didn't enjoy the food, and diner wasn't very clean. My friend said they had very very good coffee, and she enjoyed her french toast. I got the grilled chicken sandwich, the waiter mentioned they had good grilled chicken and they DO! Stopped in on an evening whim and there were no lines or wait. I live relatively close by and it had good recommendations . I ordered the liver and onions and they were very good. It was smothered in onions and with real mashed potatoes. Good home style cooking. My first experience was good. Came back for a pizza and beer. Now they are brewing a couple of their own beers. I had a Belgium and one of the better ones I have tried in BCS. The pizza was very good and all hand made. They will even put anchovies on it! This is turning out to be my local go to for beer and fantastic sangria's and it's just down the road here in SoCol. read more

The atmosphere was great. It's a traditional old school diner in an airstream trailer. They also had outside entertainment,bar, and seating with a tv. Waitress was very nice. It's very clean. Food was fresh, hot, and dessert was yummy. Our appetizer was Wet Fries. Sooooo good! Brown gravy, mushrooms,and onions over seasoned fries. My husbands pizza was fresh, hot, and homemade. My chicken fried steak was lightly seasoned and breaded perfectly. My salad was fresh and dressing was homemade. My husband got choc pie and I got a choc shake both were exceptional. Ah, Hullabaloo diner. I hold this place close to my heart now. I am from Maryland and came to this diner when visiting my cousin at Texas A&M. The reason I decided to come here is because I heard this place had a 12 egg omelette challenge. I have never once done a food challenge before so I said to myself why not give it a shot! Needless to say I failed utterly and was ashamed. Fast forward a few months later I came back prepared and ready to go! I went for dinner my first time and the wait time was about 30-45 minutes and my second time going here the wait was about an hour because we came right at the peak of the lunch time rush. Thankfully the provide an outside patio where they play live music, and provide many board games like connect four, scrabble, and uno. The omelette was huge! It came with 12 eggs, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheddar american, ham, bacon, sausage, green chili, and sausage gravy, a heaping pile of potatoes, and 2 pieces of Texas toast. It is just as good as you'd expect an omelette to be. Perfect diner food at a greasy spoon! Oh by the way, the second time I got it, I smashed it in 24 minutes and 56 seconds. They timed me in order to try to beat the fastest time which I was told is held by and elderly woman finishing it around 13 minutes. Finishing the omelette netted me a free shirt which I was pretty pleased with. The service was good and my waitress (her name was Kerrie F.) was extremely encouraging and prompt at assisting my party with all our needs. I definitely would come back here. read more

Great experience. I've come to learn that great diners with all day breakfast can satisfy the pickiest of eater (speaking of children but could equally apply to picky adults). Standouts were the green chile fries, which we delicious, crisp and coated with the right amount of savory green chile gravy and cheese (almost like a southwestern poutine). My son order a short stack of pancakes, which easily could have fed two adults. Admittedly, we went during the Summer, when most students are back home, but the service was excellent and the wait times very reasonable. They also brew their own beer, something we will have to try the next time we are in town. read more

Well I haven't tried everything so this review is completely based on the Train Wreck Fries. I came around 9 or 10 am ready for a fat stack of pancakes but as soon as I saw those fries... well yeah. If you don't like blue cheese, stop reading now and move to the next review. These things are loaded with blue, buffalo ranch, chives, and BACON, and they're friend to perfection. I was skeptical about the size of a basket of fries so I ordered a pancake with it. This was a mistake, the fries will definitely fill you up, especially for breakfast. The pancake was also fluffy, large, and tasty. My friend commented on the french toast being very eggy, and the coffee being strong. The service was great! I noticed that the mimosas were on "special" for $7 so I steered clear of that. But overall the meal was excellent and I'll definitely be going back. read more

Well food network finally did it. Okay so this place is interesting. Very dated. You eat inside what seems like an old railroad car. As per service. It's what you would expect small town. Slow placed. Difficulty multi-tasking. But well worth it. So I had the sausage and pepper sandwich. Really well put together. The sausage link is well seasoned and complimented by some sautéed peppers and onions with provolone cheese. Very tasty and super hot (temperature not spice) marinara. Highly recommend this dish. Only downfall. The fries. Nothing to say about them. For dessert. Bread pudding. Well first off they ran out of vanilla ice cream... So that was a little depressing. However. It was okay. I have definitely has better bread pudding. Next time I'll try a piece of pie. That looked a little more appealing. Happy fooding. read more

Stopped here for dinner on Friday with my favorite attorney in the Bryan/College Station area. She'd always wanted to try it for breakfast, but said the wait is too long. The drive just outside of College Station was a pleasant one and ended up with us parking at an authentic East Coast diner building attached to a variety of wooden decks. When we showed up for an early dinner, there was no wait. The host was very friendly and playful with joking with us about the weight -- not in the forced sense of humor that some restaurant staff have, but actual genuine friendliness and hospitality. Our waiter was equally friendly in helping us navigate through a menu full of all of sorts of Texas home cooking as well as a surprising variety of Italian food. At our waiter's suggestion, I tried the chicken parmesan. The portion size was well past the point of being a one person meal, but I managed to accomplish the task regardless. It was excellent as were our bacon cheese fries appetizer. If I had any minor criticisms, it would be the lack of lemons for the tea and the lack of a web page to peruse the menu before going. Otherwise, definitely well worth the stop while visiting Aggieland. read more

I am a fan of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives but I don't chose my restaurants based upon that show. But I have yet to be disappointed by any restaurant that I happen to wander into that was visited by Guy F. This place has an especially unique history (building was originally in NYC according to their menu) and location (a little bit in the middle of nowhere but appropriately located across the road from the railroad track). The menu was petty standard in choices but the items were especially well prepared. My wife had the biscuits and gravy and I did the French toast with a side of bacon. All was really good. The only downside of this eclectic restaurant was that the kitchen was slower than expected. The servers were running hard to keep up with orders and customers but it took quite a while to get the food. That would have been ok but the food did not come out piping hot like I would have expected. Part of that might have been the unique serving plates that they use. Great for easy clean up but perhaps dissipate the heat a little more quickly than normal ceramics. In any case, I highly recommend this place. We will go back again if the opportunity presents itself. And they had a great guy doing live music on the patio. read more

It took 2 hours (TWO) to be seated at a 6-top. I watched others being seated with growing anger. Turns out, they "called" our party...but the hostess wrote down the wrong phone number. Most places would call out for a party, but this place just skipped right past us. When we were finally seated, we were told they were out of bacon...what kind of diner/breakfast establishment runs out of bacon? We ordered, with the majority of our party ordering a chicken fried steak. The waitress comes back a few minutes later telling us that they only have 2 chicken fried steaks left. You've GOT to be kidding me. Our water cups are empty and the waitress hasn't offered to refill them. This is the worst place I've ever been to. The food couldn't possible be good enough to redeem my experience at this place. I haven't even gotten my food yet but I'm so angry at this restaurant that I'm literally sitting in the sticky booth writing this. I would give the place five stars just for the atmosphere alone! This diner is in an old 1940s airstream harbor type trailer. It has a counter that extends from one side to the other with antique style barstools. There are also booths in the Diner. My friend and I ordered the philly steak with bacon, which comes with a side of fries, the omelette which comes with a biscuit and heaping portion of home fries and a short stack of pancakes, which are HUGE with the seasonal fruit. Everything was absolutely delicious, but we definitely ordered too much for the two of us and took half of the meal home. The philly cheese steak had thinly cut pieces of beef, very tender and juicy, with chopped grilled onion throughout and some American cheese in a hoagie bread bun. Next time I wouldn't get it with the bacon though, instead with the the onions and green pepper. The fried hat came with it were so good! Not soggy at all and completely crispy but with some chew. The omelette was full of delicious food that all stood out on its own, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, sausage, bacon, ham... basically the works, but it was pretty oily. The home fries were super good too! The biscuits was nice and pillowy. The pancakes were very soft and had artificial vanilla flavoring in it, which made it taste like birthday cake! Super yummy. However, next time I wouldn't get it with the seasonal fruit, because it's not fresh fruit, it's syrup based. The fries and home fries held up really well when I took them home for my SO, they were in the fridge for 6 hours and he fries didn't get soggy at all even though they were in the same container as the omelette! The 45minute wait was definitely worth it, especially since the waiting area is very interesting looking with games to pass the time and live music. After days I found out from the owner of the building that the manager didn't want our particular political party there. I have eaten here since it opened! Went to try the breakfast items but they ran out of French toast on the person before me in line. I had pancakes and a breakfast toco with bacon. There were 3 of us and each of us received our food at separate times from 3-5 minutes apart from each other with pancakes served first and then breakfast tacos later and finally a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The pancakes were cold, pulled pork breakfast taco was bland, bacon breakfast taco was pretty good with the best thing being the bacon cheeseburger and fries. I really loved the pot roast sandwich....it was heavenly. The diner is small and we were lucky enough to get a table right away. However, the table we got was smooched up so close to the benches we sat on that we had to move the table diagonally and sit at opposite ends of the table to be able to eat comfortably. I think this may have been just a freak incident because others looked comfortably. My sandwich was so good that I've been thinking about it for the past few days. One of the best places to eat in College Station! The biscuits and gravy are the bomb and the train wreck fries are amazing. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Although the main diner area is temporarily closed, as always the bar area and outdoor patio is still open for patrons to enjoy a meal or wait for an order. I appreciate the management being mindful of closing the diner area during the pandemic, since it would be difficult to keep social distance. Four stars considering all of my visits over time. I usually end up here for breakfast or brunch and have not tried the dinner menu recently. Pancakes and French toast are awesome and you can't go wrong, especially when topped with fresh fruit. Biscuits and gravy are great with biscuits cooked so that they don't become overly soggy under the thick, heavy gravy. Today, I went a different route and ordered the green chile breakfast pizza with chorizo off the patio menu. The pizza was ok, but I would have liked more spice. Mimosas are good, served in a pint glass with a selection of juices. The patio has live music after 11 am and is also dog friendly. read more
