Went in for the first time today Dillan was super helpful and the ice cream was yummy

i was honestly a little disappointed with this spot. there wasn't as much variety in flavors as i was hoping, and the vietnamese coffee ice cream i ended up with had the saltiest aftertaste. not the most pleasant taste & certainly not what i was expecting. i wish it had a little more bitterness of espresso as well as the creaminess of condensed milk that viet coffee usually has. i saw they had a seasonal pumpkin flavor, but after already taste testing a few different ones, i felt bad about asking to try another. maybe i'll come back to try that, but pumpkin ice cream is honestly such a hit or miss sometimes, so i'm not confident it'll be good here. their service is wonderful, and the girl behind the counter who helped us was super patient when i couldn't decide on what flavor i wanted. read more

Here's the thing about ice cream stores, they don't just sling frozen deserts, they have the ability provide experiences that evoke memories of childhood and joy. Such a simple thing but infinitely powerful in its potential to blanket you in happiness and satisfaction. I had forgotten how possible these experiences are as ice cream has become something I rush my kids to pick out in the grocery store or take for a quick mid-week treat somewhere. I am infinitely grateful that in leaving HS's I was reminded of how happy places like this can make us. The ice cream: The unique flavor variety elevates familiar tastes such as malted milk chocolate that tasted like a milkshake, smoked s'mores, and Tahitian vanilla. All with marshmallow fluff on top and whipped cream. The ice cream was not overwhelmingly sweet yet intensely flavorful. If you're looking for your standard mint chip this may not be the best for you as the flavors offered are all about awakening the tastebuds with unique combinations. Taking familiar flavors we know and love and turns them into something that makes each bite interesting. The crown jewel: The manager. Witty and kind, he made us feel completely comfortable in taking our time and trying all the flavors. He is passionate about what he does and it shows as he expressed genuine interest in our thoughts on the different flavors and suggestions on what to try next. He took extra time with us and talked directly to the kids and not just my husband and I (I always appreciate when people don't talk over my kids). He prepared our ice creams with care and when he found out I collect mugs he offered me theirs. All this while carrying a conversation with us about the brand and his background. We all left feeling amazingly jolly and talking about how we can't wait to come back. To note, when he saw someone line up behind us he immediately had another employee come out and help them so a line didn't form and everyone was being taken care of. This is the actual store front that I had trouble finding for my yelp review, but I'm happy to go out of my way to preach about this place! Damn did this place hit every note in the palate. We browsed the pictures they had posted outside and mango lassi caught my eye and it was the best flavor I've ever had in my life. The samples of other flavors hit the point, but damn this place did not disappoint. Coming from SoCal, and being an avid ice cream connoisseur, this has been my favorite craft places! And probably one of my favorite spots in the bay! Also the owners were nice enough to message me and correct me on finding the right locations. I love that they're interactive. read more

The irresponsible staff (there were two of them) left and CLOSED THE STORE during primetime (8pm) to go get Teaspoon Boba around the corner. How do I know this? My group of 6 and several other groups went to open the door only to find it was locked. Disappointed, we walked toward the Flower Flour instead. On our way over, we saw the two girls who were "working", most likely clocked in, walking back with their boba from Teaspoon. We love Humphry Slocombe and frequently visit the Redwood City location and have had nothing but excellent experiences with their staff, but the Pruneyard employees are apparently lazy and dishonest enough to shut down the store during operating hours. While I was outside the store, I spoke to someone who had driven here to get ice cream. Extremely unprofessional and terrible service. If you don't want to work, quit your job. To the owners/managers: the girls who closed down the store during operating hours were average height Caucasian brunettes working what I assume was the closing shift on 5/31/23. The Vietnamese coffee flavor is amazing. The flavor is so strong that you can eat it one itty bitty bite at a time and stretch out the joy.

The 'hot' fudge is like a cold layer of candy when it lands on the ice cream. This means the customer does not taste hot fudge! apparently the fudge is 'hot' in a plastic container squirt bottle... that can't be the case as it would melt the ice cream. remember the good old days when hot meant hot! read more

We used to love Tin pot creamery in this location . And then we noticed it got replaced with Humphreys and it has great reviews. So went to try , never have I thought I would this disappointed . We bought 3 favors single scoop each . Oh fudge! , secret breakfast and another one with strawberry cinnomon and champagne. Other than secret breakfast , please don't even bother going with other 2. Oh fudge was so salty I couldn't taste anything else . Straight into trash! Strawberry one was less salty but still not palatable . Only saving grace was secret breakfast . I would rather go to salt and straw when I am in mood for exotic flavors and they never go wrong . Never stepping foot here in hunpreys . Totally disappointed , especially for small the scoop sizes n price point , I expect good quality! read more

I was a big fan of Tin Pot and was hoping for a similar or better experience here, since it's now the ice cream spot for the Pruneyard. Ive been several times. Unfortunately, the flavors offered are inconsistent and rarely appealing and it's hit or miss for whether or not you can get anything close to a straight up chocolate favor for the kids (there is a playground literally outside the door so catering to kids first seems like it would've made sense). Very few gluten free or vegan options, if any, depending on the day. My ask would be that they keep some traditional offerings available and open things up to those who need GF or Vegan options. Tin Pot had great experimental or unique flavors but always kept a few basics available. Not a bad spot and the service is usually friendly, but disappointed in the lack of options. read more

I went here for a date night, because I noticed it opened recently. They gave nice samples, and the worker that night was really friendly. I got the mango sticky rice flavor with fluff, and my husband got graham cracker. We both loved it! They even charred the marshmallow to make it like a smore. No seating inside, but there were chairs outside in the courtyard for us to sit in. Will definitely be back! read more

I went to this location with a large group. Several people have gluten allergies or intolerances. There were 2 flavors to choose from that did not contain gluten and I found that gluten was in some flavors that I have never seen before like vanilla. Since I saw gluten free cones in a box on the counter I emailed the company explaining my experience and hoping to engage with suggestions for those of us with a gluten intolerance and the company never got back to me. Stopped by 30 minutes before closing and I was worried that there wouldn't be any more flavors but to my pleasant surprise they still had a lot remaining and the worker was really nice and understanding. I got their Vietnamese coffee ice cream and it's really dense, rich, and flavorful. The flavor almost reminds me more of a burnt caramel than viet coffee but it was still good and I would definitely come back! read more

This was my first time at Humphry Slocombe. It's located on the same spot where Tin Pot Creamery used to be. I tried the Oil & Vinegar and it was surprisingly good. The portions are very small for the price. The small was literally a small racquetball portion (maybe even slightly less). For the same price, I get much more at other places. But the ice cream was good, no complaints there. read more

Not impressed with the service. We were there yesterday at about 4 PM to celebrate mothers day. It wasn't that crowded. I had each of my three kids have three waffle cone. Every single one of them was not baked properly and the ice cream just kept dripping throughout. When I gave them the feedback, I'm not really sure how they responded or even acknowledged. Kind of felt like once the $ transaction happened, they were done with us. Ice cream was good but the waffle cone and the experience wasn't. When you are charging $8 a scoop, that's the least you can have your staff do. read more
