I had walked by this place a few times before ordering from here. The order process was simple and my food was done exactly when it said it would be there when I arrived to pick it up. The staff was friendly and helpful in making sure my order was complete. When I got home all my food was delicious and hot. The portions were huge and I had more than enough for lunch the next day. My favorite greasy Chinese place in Chicago thus far. I've only tried the egg rolls and beef and broccoli and I really liked both of them. Is it authentic? No, of course not! But it sure is tasty! Also, the price is right and the delivery was super quick-- I ordered using UberEats and got it exactly 20 minutes later. ...And now presenting the amazing Human Egg Roll! He sings, he dances, he does tricks in your mouth... ....but he tasted just ok. So the egg roll was decent, but full of cabbage and not so much meat. Not that it's a bad thing, but good to know in case you were expecting carnage. The rest of the food (Hunan Chicken, Combo Fried Rice, Pork Subgum) were satisfactory. The inside is a dump and I kept wondering how sanitary their food preparation practices are. However, if I really let that thought linger too long I would never eat out and would be no use to Yelp. I was suffering from a head cold and needed hot and sour soup - STAT! Ordering through GrubHub was not a big deal, and my order of Kung Pao Chicken and HS soup was on time - unfortunately they forgot the egg rolls. Called them up, and was given the option of having them delivered or a credit for next time, and...since I wasn't sure there would be a next time opted to have them bring 'em on up. Short story: Hot and sour soup: delicious and hit the spot - cleared out mah sinuses like a dream, very chunky with a nice thick broth. Kung Pao Chicken - adequate, the small was easily 2 meals and the chicken was not breaded, but not as tender as I've had before. The egg rolls....eh, my daughter and I agreed that they were doughy (too much wrapper) and bland. For a place with 'egg roll' in its name, I was expecting more - like MIND FUCKIN' BLOWN more. But no. At least they seemed to be homemade and not pre-fab. Still in search of the MFB egg roll in the city - I know what I'm lookin' for, and when I find it, I'll be sure to tout it. Ordered takeout from here and loved the meal! It is an incredible value for the food you get. We ordered a ton of food all for less than $50. I would recommend the vegetable fried rice (TONS of veggies!), dumplings and mixed veggies. We also had the egg rolls (peanut butter taste in the filling threw me off, but it was generous portions and crispy) and general tso's chicken (a little dry but flavor was good). Quite surprised it took me 5 years to try this place. I've been missing out! I got the general Tso's crispy beaded and sweet chicken along with what is now my favorite fried rice! The fried rice had delicious and generous pieces of pork, onions and more. They forgot part of our order during pick up and they went above and beyond to make it right! On a tip from other Yelpers I was on my first leg of my egg roll expedition. Egg roll king? Why?? I asked the lady at the counter. She couldn't tell me why. When I asked, she just giggled. She said that she makes them fresh every morning. Its a small business, so they make everything. She also mentioned another Chinese place nearby, Szechwan something, that gets their egg rolls from here. She told me her egg rolls are medium size. I had one. They are just a little bit bigger than the average roll. She fried two fresh for me. I would suggest using a few paper towels to dry them off. I had them to go. The little baggie they came in were soaked through with oil. They don't have spring rolls. So, for a King of Egg rolls, they only have one variety. That sucks. Also tried the "cheese wonton" their version of Crab Rangoons. Its wonton and an ample amount of plain cream cheese. No taste. You need some sauce, try sweet and sour or chili paste. Sri racha would work also, I didn't see it available. Didn't try any meals. Lunch specials run till 4 pm, that's cool. They also have dinner specials and the price is moderate. Credit card purchases must be over $8. Parking is hard to find, they have seating but I think most would rather choose take out. read more

This place isn't great looking and I found the food only decent. My biggest compliement is the great service. I went for lunch on a weekend because I was in the area. I had the least healthy thing on the menu, sweet and sour chicken. I found the chicken was a bit overdone and the amount of chicken in the batter balls was minimal. Now for the good stuff :) The woman behind the counter greeted me with a smile when I walked in and asked if I wanted a glass of water while I waited for my to go order. I had extreme thirst and she filled my glass on four seperate occasions, each time with a smile. When my order was ready she brought it to my table. I asked for extra soy and again received a smile and two soy packets. I judge an entire Chinese restaurant on their crab rangoon and while Hunan disappoints in this area it makes up for it in other areas. Their portions are HUGE, the shrimp fried rice is AMAZING, it's BYOB and it's FAST (also good reasons for CAP LOCKS). I can attest that these are definitely fresh home made egg rolls and are not the standard mysterious frozen then flash-friend egg rolls from the run-of-the-mill strip mall Chinese place. I kinda like them, but my girlfriend prefers the more standard type of egg rolls. The people in the restaurant are really nice and its pretty clear that its a family affair (ie. I've seen grandparents / parents / kids / and as best I can gather... grand kids in the store. ) I usually order delivery but every once in a while I will just stop in and pick it up instead. The deliveries are fast and reliable, I've ordered from here many times (once.. during a snowy night I had the delivery guy show up on a bike and my food was still hot and perfect.. I was impressed). Maybe its because I live around the corner, but still I very much enjoy this place. The people who take your order aren't the most fluent in English, but that's half the fun of ordering Chinese delivery. I recommend: BBQ Pork (its a big bucket of pork for $4.50!!!) This is a family run store. The lady behind the counter always so friendly and try her best to take care of the whole operations of the store. It seems that she take the order, cook and serve the food too (not sure but, thats how it feels like). The husband and son i think mostly in-charge of delivery or something else. A lot of people consider this to be typical Chinese food. I disagree. The 'egg roll king' hardly lived up to its name with whatever chalky paste filled up my roll. Also, avoid the sesame chicken. The flavor was very bland, and they are very skimpy on the chicken. Most of my dish was full of broccoli. It's very convenient if you happen to be in the nearby Buena Park neighborhood when you are in a pinch for some quick cuisine, but you may want to check out one of the other nearby take-out places. read more

This a family run business and you can just feel the love specially when you walk in and the lady at the counter greats you with a smile. She is always polite to. I use to live in the area and having lived in different parts of chicago I would say this is by far one of the great chinese Houses around. I still travel to them when I want chinese even when its out of my way which is always now that im not in the area anymore. My food has always been great. I have never had delivery so I can't speak on that. I like do pick my food up. Now the place isn't some lavish dine in spot so don't expect it if you have never been there. I don't have anything bad to say about the place. My food is always great. I would actually recommend them to people looking for good chinese. I know people sometimes eat at a certain place and get use to the taste that when we try other things we think they taste funny but give them a try. I will travel out of my way any day to go here. I used GrubHub to order food from here since I'd forgotten my lunch at home and was going to be stuck at work all day. The delivery time was great (about 40 minutes compared to the hour I was quoted online) but that was about it... I ordered the Triple Delight House Dinner Special - it sounded pretty good (steak, chicken, and shrimp with vegetables and rice). I paid $1 extra for extra vegetables -- I'd hate to think how few there'd be without upgrading because the amount in the container wasn't anything to write home about. The egg roll and rice were both pretty good - not the best I've had, but not the worst either. Overall quality of the food in general was kind of so-so. Case in point: With all the other options available, I'd probably opt for somewhere else next time. read more
