Hunan Garden is the BEST. Not only is the food fantastic, they deliver! The delivery is prompt and the drivers are wonderful. We order on a regular basis and they know what I am going to order before I can even say it. Always super friendly but "deliver" awesome food at great prices. I have never a problem with the food or service from ordering to when they bring it to my front door!!! Gave my husband the option to chose dinner tonight and he brought Hunan Garden home. It was 9pm and they close at 9:30pm so I was already on edge. He comes home and says babe I ordered chinese. If you HAVE to get Chinese food in Chester, this is the only real option. I think I've tried nearly all of them and this was the only one I am okay with occasionally ordering from. The General Tso's is decent, and the portions are good. I did not like the Sesame Chicken, though, which surprised me. I've had delivery from Hunan Garden before and it was fine. Over priced but I didn't have to go out to get it. My delivery this past weekend was AWFUL....... the food smelled like cigarettes. I don't know if the delivery driver smoked or someone making the food to make it smell like that or what.... The only thing we could eat was what was in plastic containers. Everything else had to be thrown away, egg rolls, rice, the smell permeated the paper containers and the food tasted like ash. Dissapointing.... read more

Hunan Garden is located in a strip mall in Chester. Gauge your expectations accordingly. The interior decorations are nothing to speak of and the menu is nothing unique. However, what you will find here is extremely courteous and prompt service, large portions, and affordable prices for tasty food. My family has been eating at Hunan Garden for years and will continue to do so based solely on the customer service of this family owned and operated local business. Although we tend to eat here slightly less than once a month, the servers know our family by name and always accommodate my mother with an order that is not on the menu. Years ago, my sister lost her coat with no idea where and we returned months later to the owner running into the back upon seeing us to retrieve my sisters coat that we had all given up on ever locating. Great find! The food was fresh and tasty! The vegetables were fresh and crisp, not overdone and soggy. The sauces were spot on. The service for dining in was quick and the service was kind. A week ago I placed a to go order at Hunan Garden and this was the most horrible food I have ever had from them, The fried rice with vegetables was burned but the chow mein I ordered for my son was adequate. There is no way anyone can convince me that the person preparing my to go order did not know the rice was burned---it was black and smelled. I called to complain and was told "so sorry." We have eaten here for six years and have yet to be disappointed in either the food or the service. It's a family run affair and Eric and Mae do most of the up front work. We have grown to be friends and keep track of their cute kids who may be doing homework at a table in the late afternoon. Tonight we took a friend and we were all very pleased with our food and despite the fact that all the tables but one were filled and the carry out business was constant we got our food very quickly. My wife and I rate Chinese food by how good the hot and sour soup is. This, tonight was extra spicy and so good I could have made a meal of just it. Our friend had egg drop soup and loved it. For entrees, we had cashew chicken, Hunan shrimp and Gen. Tso's chicken. All came with luscious fried rice. We ate until stuffed and then had three boxes to take home.
