Horrible experience. Most of these workers don't speak NOR UNDERSTAND english. My family and I went here for the hibachi, on top of the hibachi person not speaking or understanding a lick of english, you have to order your hibachi from that same person instead of buffet style and bringing it over for him to cook. Very limited options. As we were waiting to order I allowed my 2 family members to order first so he started making their food while im standing there waiting. in the meantime a mess up of his came back and he proceeded to remake that order before taking care of me as i was already waiting. i allowed it without saying anything. 15 minutes later of me standing there he proceeded to ask me "what you want". I gave him my order which was pretty simple and I did ask for my meat to be cooked well done and extra teriyaki sauce. I proceeded to wait another 10 minutes at the table for my food and went back to check to find my order sitting by the hibachi place with the chicken being white on my plate, clearly undercooked, half of what I had ordered was missing off the plate and there was no teriyaki. After realizing that when I got to the table, I was so upset and just called over the server to let her know what happened and if she could take me off the bill since I haven't ate. to which she proceeded to just bring me the bill how it was. so i called her over again and asked again if she can take me off because i was not able to enjoy any food. her manager came over to the table, didnt introduce herself or anything just said "whats your problem?" so i told her the same thing, she took the bill to go take me off and came back and aggressively returned the adjusted check on the table. On the way out, there was a bowl of apples and my aunt thought it was just for people to take, she is a little older, but the same manager that adjusted the bill came running out of her office screaming at us like we were stealing, mind you FOR AN APPLE. Disgusting. I am so disappointed that we paid for that disgusting service and tipped too. Only good thing was the place was slightly cleaner than others. The third time trying out this restaurant on our trip to Chicago! Ate the fried dumplings, Bourbon Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Fried Rice, Sushi rolls, Chicken Egg Roll, Broccoli and a few other items from the Buffet. All of the foods tasted pretty good. Friendly service, decent price, large selection of familiar Chinese American favorites, as well as a sushi bar and quite a lot of seafood. The staff is always hustling and refilling dishes. Only downside is that some of the dishes are NOT hot enough. I tried a chicken that was room temperature and a dumpling that was literally cold in the middle. You have to really watch for the steaming dishes that were just brought out or you risk getting cold food, and that's pretty annoying and unappetizing. read more

As far as buffets are concerned, Hunan is doing something right! I come here when I need a sushi fix without the sushi price. They make it fresh, I have never had a fishy tasting piece of sushi, and there's a decent variety for a Chinese buffet offering. Usually my first round is just for sushi alone. They also offer Raman! It's really good!! They even give you the marinated egg. Well, half of one anyways haha! I recommend going for lunch to save a little money. They have everything I eat for dinner on the lunch menu. Not even sure what they put out at dinner that's different, but I'm sure they have extra stuff. All in all, it's a Chinese buffet. But it's good! Affordable! And enough food offerings to keep me coming back at least once a week. Extremely Disappointed - Won't Be Returning I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Hunan Hibachi Buffet was so frustrating I feel obligated to warn others. The food was unreasonably overpriced for what you get. Most of the meats were so overcooked and dry they were nearly impossible to chew, and the flavor (if you can call it that) was bland and forgettable. It felt like everything had been sitting out far too long. Customer service was just as disappointing. This is one of the worst places I have been in, most buffets charge when you walk in but not this one and I understand why they do that. It is way overpriced forthe value you receive. The food was hard and dry, at least the ones I tried. Service was not good, and they started clearing everything out like at 9:25. They close at 10. So they were rushing us to leave. Alright, here goes.....came here for a late dinner with my bf and my parents. Food was (somewhat) tasty but the customer service could use some help. I mean honestly, what could you really expect for a cheap buffet? You definitely get what pay for here, that's for sure. My bf enjoyed the bourban chicken, I liked the fried shrimp and steamed fish. However, my mom was not impressed and neither was my dad. My parents, in particular, come for the steamed clams. For a long time, we were waiting for more steamed clams. We had told our waiter numerous times who said that it would be brought out, whenever we would ask for an update, she give us a blank stare like a deer in the headlights. After waiting for almost 45 minutes, we asked again for the clams and they seem upset that we were asking. They haphazardly brought a small amount of clams, many of which were empty. It was such a disappointment. Morale of the story; come here during lunch when the food is fresh and they don't mind refilling the buffet but if you're thinking of coming here during dinner, make sure you're ready for disgruntled employees who don't want to refill the buffet. I dont know how this buffet is still operating. The food is terrible, all the food is lacking flavor, less selection and most of all when you go there for late lunch they take you in but when you reach the dinner time there will be only certain food you can eat, it means the selection is way less than when you came in. The lady that was serving us was okay. Took forever to give us water, but its fine whatever. One thing I did not like is after I pay the bill with cash she told me make sure to leave me a tip! I had ordered from this place a month ago through Grubhub and the food was great. I had ordered an orange chicken, pepper steak, cashew chicken and an avocado smoothie. A woman at the restaurant called me to tell me that someone had accidentally took my avocado smoothie and then called me back to tell me they didn't and it was a mistake. I appreciated her calling me and was super sweet. I decided to come to the restaurant to try the buffet this evening and it was pretty good. There was not a lot of variety of food as compared to their Grubhub menu, which is extensive. They had all the staple Chinese buffet foods. The food that was out was pretty good though, I really enjoyed the jalapeño chicken. The waitress was very nice as well. The price was great, too. Decent buffet, good variety. They could take better care of the bathroom (that's where they lose a star) Buffet includes everything, including fresh made sushi and custom made hibachi bowls. Fruit is fresh. Plenty of deserts. Food selection has a mix of Asian dishes and American. I love their Jalapeno Chicken, one of the reasons I go back. They have a cooler of ice cream cups which are part of the buffet, unless you take one to go, then it's an extra buck. It's a buffet, so don't expect gourmet food. WORST. BUFFET. EVER. If I could give zero stars I would. First of all, we made reservations for a big party days in advance so they knew we were coming. Yet as we walked in towards our tables, there was no food to be seen. At least 4-6 different food dishes were empty in each part of the buffet line yet there were labels indicating something was supposed to be there. Even when we were at our tables, it took awhile to even get a water or drink order. And then it was another long wait to get straws and napkins after we finally received some water. Several spots were missing silverware as well at the table. I started with their hibachi grill because that's what they are known for. You basically get a plate, choose whatever raw ingredients you like such as meat/vegetables, then choose whatever sauce/seasoning you want, and they cook it in front of you on their flat top grill. This was basically the only food in the entire buffet that was worth eating. It didn't taste amazing, but at least it was hot/freshly cooked. The other buffet line food was either old/sitting out for awhile, or it was just non existent all together. If you are brave enough to come here, just prepare to eat bland, tasteless food that sits out all day. There was a guy making sushi, but if it's anything like their other food's low quality, you'll probably get sick eating their sushi so I didn't take the chance. Just be smart, and eat somewhere else other than here!! And to top everything off, both of the restrooms were completely unavailable. I don't know exactly what happened, but both the men's and women's restrooms were literally overflowing with toilet water. It was absolutely disgusting. They had a worker mopping whatever toilet water he could out the front door, but it was revolting having to walk through dirty toilet water to leave the restaurant. And I'm pretty sure not having working restrooms is a major restaurant violation, this place should be shut down completely. I can't imagine the food safety violations this place must have in the back if the front of the restaurant is already this bad. Maybe I've been to many Chinese buffets, but never have I seen so many empty dishes on a buffet line. There was no sushi to be found either! The only thing I really ate was the hibachi portion since someone was actively managing the station. But even the hibachi line was lacking ingredients, and was also running low on supply. The worse part was the non-functional men's AND women's restrooms! A restaurant cannot possibly stay open without running restrooms. How ridiculous is it that a paying customer must visit the Starbucks down the road only to use their restroom! I placed the order at 11:10am with a delivery estimation of 20-30 minutes, and it did not arrive until after 12:30! The food was terrible. Fried Dumplings were burnt. General Tso's chicken was basically boneless wings with BBQ sauce, ZERO flavor! Beef with broccoli container was broken across the bottom and ALL the sauce was on everything but the food it was intended for. My second time coming, only difference about it this time was the time, don't , I repeat DONT come after 3:00pm food is no longer fresh, and you'll find surprise bugs with it. I still can't get that nasty after taste out my mouth, but what I noticed while I'm walking out , sign says $9.99 for fresh morning lunch but dinner hours are $13.49 for nasty , old, cool, hard, off taste food. This place is a resounding "mediocre". I wanted to like it more.. The restaurant itself has a neat old-school vibe, the staff is friendly, and the prices are great. The food looks and smells good, but every single protein I tried, from chicken to beef to squid to shrimp, was resolutely lukewarm at best, despite steaming dishes on the buffet. The food is clearly not being kept at a sufficient temperature and biting into soggy, room-temperature chicken is just disgusting. The noodles were all fresh and hot and the soup was fresh and hot, so as long as you pick and choose, you're okay, but I just can't justify returning until they get it together and keep their food heated. The food was actually really good and tasty, better than most Chinese buffets I went to imo. My favorite was their dumplings. It was freshly cooked and spot on. Dipped with the sauce, it was amazing lol. This is a nice simple buffet. Comfortable and clean environment too. The workers were really nice as well and made us feel welcomed.
