I have long been a fan of the local sushi and hibachi restaurant "Asian Bistro". I always swore by it as being the best around. That was until I had Hunan Pan. My wife and I got way more food then we have at Asian Bistro for less money. The sushi was fresh and the rest of the items we ordered were great as well. The staff was very attentive and constantly were filling up our glasses and ensuring a positive experience. We will return and we would recommend to anyone. I usually do not eat Chinese food, but when I do this is the best place to go. They have the best boneless spare ribs around. I have never eaten inside, I usually just do checkout. BEWARE people with allergies! This restaurant does not have trained staff to advise customers with accurate information and their menu does not call out allergens in their food including peanuts! I ordered take out and asked several times to the employee ensure the items I ordered do not contain nuts as their menu did not clarify which items had nuts in them. My daughter is highly allergic to peanuts and this employee confidently told me there were no nuts in my food and also lied about informing the chef in the kitchen. My daughter ended up eating the food and had an allergic reaction and ended up going to the ER. When I called the restaurant I was told that one of the dishes I ordered had peanut sauce in it and the employee who took my order was new and did not know! I am appalled by the carelessness of this restaurant management and this review is intended to warn customers with allergies so that they do not end up having a potential life threatening experience that we did. read more

We've been here a handful of times over the years, but can't really rave. The staff has always been friendly and enthusiastic. The view during the day can be very nice, but the decor is a little rough around the edges. We can only speak to the Chinese menu, but at times the food has been a little heavy on the grease and salt (MSG?). We try not to eat any fried food, but what little we did have was dripping with oil. I know this is par for the course for most Chinese fried food, but is still a bit of a turn off. Other than that, it's been the standard fare with a decent presentation. Good place to bring the kids. read more

Just finished having lunch here and it was great! Greeter was friendly. I was brought the wonton strips and pot of Jasmine tea as soon as I was seated! Not just a cup, but the POT. I'm Chinese so I'm picky about the tea I get at American geared Asian restaurants. They use PROPER stuff. The woman who served me poured my tea for me each time she passed me, that was so courteous of her and she was very sweet. Price was SUPER reasonable I paid $13.50 after tax for 3 rolls (lunch price) and got miso soup included. Each roll was 7 pieces instead of 6. The atmosphere is very relaxing and I was seated next to a scenic view of the woods that has a nice stream. Very good to unwind before returning to work. read more

My co-workers and I tried Hunan Pan today and we were all very happy with our food. I got the sweet and sour chicken with white rice and soup. The soup was nice and hot, the sweet and sour sauce was nice and warm and everything was cooked perfect. Yes the restaurant itself is plain and simple however, I'm there for the food and service which was excellent. Also, the prices are very reasonable. No complaints here, this will be a regular lunch spot for me. read more

I ordered the king salmon roll with jalapeno, For $18.00 there was more salmon paste to fish ratio! The owner, and sushi chef tried to sell me more food then what I had ordered. Perhaps it was a slow Friday night? Joe, formed a human shield for his waitresses? and, took my order from soup to nuts! He even gave me the check in the end..!? In all modesty, I am a total gentleman. They also acknowledged to me that they haven't seen me in a while? I wonder why! At the end of the day, there are better choices! Love! Food very fresh, got the Hunan Chicken and all of the vegetables were crunchy and flavorful. Pleasingly aesthetic colors; wonderful! Egg roll was better than expected. Restaurant decor was charming, quaint and VERY clean. I was very impressed! A bit hard to find as it is off the main road, but that becomes its charm! Came for a quick lunch on my work break and a good choice it was! The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was prepared quickly and was very tasty. It was one of the very cold cold days we were having and they provided us with fried noodle app, tea and warm sake on the house! The lunch specials are nicely priced at around $6-12 for chinese and sushi. For around $7 I received chicken and broccoli with brown rice and a bowl of egg drop soup. Can't beat that! read more

My 2nd lunch visit here for lunch. This place is off the beaten path and that is unfortunete. They have excellent lunch specials for good prices. The presentation is top notch not just thrown on the plate. The service is quick and attentive to your needs. Tucked away and secluded yet it is just one minute off of Bridgeport Ave, and 1 and 1/2 from route 8. My boyfriend and I love this place. The staff and the manager are extremely curtious and they make you feel welcome. I feel like a rockstar everytime I go there. The manager always greets us and remembers our name. The food is amazing, never greasy or preheated. The sushi is freash and authentic. The drinks are great and in general the prices are reasonable. Damn this place is hard to find! it is super obscure and hidden away so give yourself extra time to get here because you WILL get turned around. I like to think of it as an adventure though so I was pretty amused at how we had to hunt this place down. once we got there, the decor was beautiful, a little luxurious, and customer service is top notch! They have a two person team to come take your orders (at least with our party of 4) and they don't put all your food on the table at once which I really hate cause then you feel rushed and the entrees get cold before you can finish your appetizer. ugh. this was not the case with them though! Every time you finish your food, they take it from your table and bring out the next thing. Also, my hubby and I are vegetarian and love sushi but without the meat:-( so I told the waitress that I wanted 2 vegetarian sushi rolls, what kind? Anything! I told her to have the sushi chef surprise me, that we like anything as long as it is vegetarian. They brought out the two most decadent looking and tasting sushi rolls we have ever seen! they were sweet, warm, cold, crunchy, soft, all at the same time! It's like a celebration in your mouth! I will post pics to prove it! also we had dessert. They don't have it on the menu but ask for green tea ice cream. If you order off the dessert menu it will be over priced and small portions. If you ask for ice cream off the menu they give you a really big serving, whipped cream, sprinkles for the same price or cheaper as a regular dessert item on the menu. Also, they charge per drink, it is not free refills on fountain drinks so just be aware. Speaking of drinks, they give complimentary chrysanthemum? Tea. it was sooo good!! for 4 people, we had appetizers, drinks, entrees, sushi, and dessert for $100 and we ate like kings. I highly reccomend this place the food and location are such an adventure! Waitress was rushed, snappy and did not smile the whole time. Food was overpriced and mediocre. Waitress said it would be $10 extra if i wanted fried rice with my meal! My sesame chicken meal was $14 and I asked for a small portion for my daughter but they only have one size of vegetable lo main and it was $10. I was definitely disappointed and it was NOT worth the $40 tab. And then, after I got home, after feeling like the food was not settling right in my stomach, I violently threw up. Food poisoning? We had been to this restaurant in the past and were pleased with the food so last Friday night when we had company I decided not to cook and enjoy their take out. I ordered $47 worth of food and was told my delivery would be there in 45 minutes. I paid with my credit card over the phone as I do many times. Two hours went by and we did not receive our order. After two hours and several phone calls I cancelled my order. I cx'd with Joe who apologized and told me he would credit my entire order and give me the food anyway as the driver was on his way. We agreed to this even though I was sure the food would be cold. Sure enough the food arrived cold within a few minutes of my last phone call. My account was NOT CREDITED AS PROMISED and I was embarrassed in front of my company and stuck with cold food. NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more
