There literally isn't a poor choice on their entire menu. I moved away from Miami 4 years ago, and still this is my all-time favorite sub shop. Every time I visit my relatives in South Florida I make sure to stop in and grab a sub from here. The only downside to this establishment is that they don't have indoor seating, and the outdoor seating isn't much to look at. For me, this doesn't even factor into my rating - the food is THAT good, but I would understand why this would be a problem for others. I have been going to this hole in the wall for 20+ years and it is still BY FAR the best sub shop in SFL. Have I had a bad sub there? Yes, but over the years I can count those bad experiences on one hand. They have young people working there so every once in a while your sub will not come out right but to be that consistent over hundreds of subs is pretty amazing. Only complaint is that they stopped using raw chicken to order about 10 years ago and stopped selling t-shirts! Get the Honey Mustard Chicken, Philly Steak, Italian, Combo (pastrami corned beef), hot turkey, or buffalo chicken. read more

If you go to hungry bear during the day, you'll quickly see why it's the best sub shop in Miami. It's always packed (that may be because the place itself is small, but the lines are long but quick!) and, no matter the day of the week, there are plenty of employees there to take your order and cook your sub for you. I have yet to find a better sub in Miami and I've lived here my entire life. I've also traveled a bit and have never had a better sub anywhere in the country than those I've had at hungry bear. This place really is the bomb dot com. I tried the Chicken Ceaser Sub with bacon, tomatoes, salt and pepper, Chicken, croutons, Parm Cheese, and romaine lett. It was delicious. Best place in town for a sub, hands down. I love the honey mustard chicken with the cooked onions. However, because this place makes great subs and good business, they sometimes feel that they should throw away customer service. Service wasn't very friendly... and the fact that there is no seating kind of sucks too. Awesome subs place close by where I live, I discovered it though yelp. The portions are huge, and the taste is very tasty and the prices are reasonable. The steak sub, and pulled pork subs are excellent. The only complaint I would have is parking is a little difficult since you have to park on the side of the shopping center, and they do close a little early my guess is because they carter to the MDC students from across the street. read more

This place is a long time favorite of mine. Huge delicious subs for a decent price. I have never waited for more than 10 minutes and they've NEVER messed up my order (and I've been a hungry bear fan for over a decade)! I always get the the steak and cheese, and it never fails to satisfy my craving. Every sandwich is made to order from the bread, to the cheese, and every little topping in between. Warning their sandwiches are huge so I suggest you share or go with an empty stomach. I've been coming to this place since I was a little kid. It's a local hole-in-the-wall sub shop. Although my love for the place is unconditional I had to subtract a star purely because if you go to this place during a rush, it can be a frustrating, hot, and uncomfortable wait for your sub. Besides that, it is all made right before your eyes. Order a sauce or cheese with any chicken sub because the past 6-7 times I've gone my chicken has been ridiculously dry. The staff is very friendly and if it's calm it can be a very pleasant experience. No seating inside, you simply order, pay, and pick up. The waiting/ordering area can comfortably fit about 12 people and I've been in there with about 20 people during a rush. I definitely recommend. Although I don't eat steak, their steak subs come highly recommended. If you like yellow curry seasoning, try the curry chicken sub. read more

Not a huge sub fan, much less steak sub, but my husband introduced me to this tiny spot and that steak bomb is what I call THE BEST SUB I have tried. The fact that you can customize it is great. The only negatives are the fact that it is a tiny place and when you find 4 people wanting to order it becomes stuffy. BEST EVER. When I lived in the neighborhood growing up this was a diet staple. I've never found a sub that can even compare since moving away 12 years ago. I go out of my way to get food here when I visit family in Ft Lauderdale. Honey mustard chicken and teriyaki cheese steak are my favorites but I don't think you can go wrong no matter which menu item you choose. All are delicious and huge portions. read more

It's one of those hole-in-the-wall places but it's one of the best places to hot sub in town. The staff is great and their subs are to die for and are made right in front of you. This is definitely not an everyday kind of spot to eat at if you are at all health conscious. This is a once in a while indulgence that borders on almost sure regret for the amount of calories that you will force yourself to intake. The steak bomb is the best steak sandwich I have had so far. When I am craving a sub in Miami, I consider heading over to Hungry Bear in front of Miami Dade College Kendall Campus. If you didn't know about this place, you would pass it right by because it is definitely a hole in the wall. While it is small, this place makes excellent subs and does it quickly. I will usually get the "Monster" sub, and be full for the rest of the day easily. The staff is always courteous and efficient. If I had one "not good" comment about this establishment, it would be that it is the size of a closet and is usually filled to capacity. This place is amazing I enjoy subs very much and this place makes probably one of the best subs in Miami. Specially if you looking for like a buffalo chicken sub or maybe a grilled teriyaki sub. This is BY FAR the best sub shop I have ever tried. I was first introduced to HB by my husband and we now make this a Saturday tradition. I am a ham-and- cheese kinda girl, but their Honey Mustard California Chicken Hot Sub is absolutely incredible. My husband loves the Steak and Cheese, and also the Southwest Chicken sub.
