This truck was really hard to find among the crowd of hungry people, street vendors, demonstrations, and restaurants. I really wanted to try some Armenian food.... I'm glad we ended up finding it since it was one of my favorite trucks at the Eat Real Festival :) Their chicken pesto sandwich was delicious - yummy seasoned chicken, warm provolone cheese along with sundried tomatoes, avocado and pesto - all served in a warm crunchy baguette. I'm usually not a big fan of pesto because some places overdo it, but this one was just right. I'm glad I followed the cashier's suggestion. Their steak sandwich was pretty good too, but it doesn't beat the one I had :) I wanted to try some of their wraps; however, they were all sold out :( Portion was a bit small though, but I think a lot of the food trucks cut down on their sizes since it was crowded. I definitely need to hit this truck up again if it's around my area.

Since we have no cafeteria in our new building at work, we are having several gourmet trucks come during lunch. The Hungry Nomad Truck is the first of many. So the prices are decent. The main items they serve are pictured on their menu and look fairly simple. A majority of the items don't have meat in them except for the chicken pesto sandwich, beef pocket, and minced beef wrap. The had a special item posted for Grilled Sirloin steak w/ provolone cheese, tomato, lettuce, pepperoncini & tahini sauce for $7.49.(on the white paper) PHOTO (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hsM20IHRn0saeEOchD1GzA?select=GmtZj_ZtKLWpJWguVa8OJA) I ended up ordering the Za'atar Feta Wrap at $5.49 and a Tahini Cookie at $2.49. The lady asked if I would like Nutella, Peanut Butter or Jelly on my cookie... OOOH Nutella!! Hell yea.. PHOTO (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hsM20IHRn0saeEOchD1GzA?select=NDdgJfOBfCW8tivnOi0wMQ) Overall my wrap was good. It had plenty of flavor, but had too many seeds and was too tangy for my taste. (which the lady did warn me after I ordered). PHOTO (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hsM20IHRn0saeEOchD1GzA?userid=JXt_vd2l_SkhFZdablieUg) The cookie was "OK". My coworkers all ordered different items, so I had a chance to check out all the menu items. If I were to order from the truck again, I would try the minced beef wrap and Fattoush salad. Their fries are huge as well....

Beef Empanadas with yogurt on top of it, not my kind of idea of empanadas. Maybe I've so used to Argentinian empanadas, that this Armenian empanadas totally "blew" me away, not in a good way. I didn't want to even come back to try this anymore. The Beef inside the empanadas had good flavor, but beef and yogurt didn't seem to go together well in my palate. The potato salad was different, but not the flavor that I was expected, kinda sour. They kept suggesting the same food to order if you ask what's good, so what's the point of a menu if you gonna keep pointing to the same food over and over. In any case, I don't really like this truck, so definitely not coming back in near future.

My half-Armenian co-worker was RAVING about how we had to try this place so try it we did. Not a whole lot of menu options if you want something veggie. I picked the Fattoush salad for $6-something and then when I ordered the girl asked if I wanted steak with that...of course I immediately answered "yes" without contemplating the consequences on my diet and my wallet. There went my plan to eat no meat for the day...and there went $10...for a salad! The salad WAS pretty damn delicious though. Not too heavy on the dressing and plenty of lentils. For $4 extra you'd think they'd pile the meat on but it was kind of a paltry portion. Thinking about portion control though it was exactly perfect to fill my tummy but not OVER fill it. So, thumbs down for portion vs price but thumbs up for portion vs appetite. I also really appreciate that the food is served in "open-air" containers so you can just dig right in and start eating like on the walk back to my office instead of fumbling around with excessive lids or packaging or heaven forbid just waiting another 5 minutes to get back to the lunch room at the office.

Awesomeness. Total awesomeness. If I could, I would pay to have this truck parked in front of my house every night. If savory is one of your love languages (don't argue with me, savory IS a love language), go hungry for the entire day and then binge eat here. The smells of this truck will drive your hunger to zombie-frenzy heights. You'll have food on your face and you won't care. You won't want to offer your girlfriend a bite. You'll cut in line to get a second order of what you just ordered. I had the blue cheesesteak sandwich and I must have eaten it in four bites. I don't even remember chewing. I just inhaled it. And I made a concerted effort to not inhale my food years ago. Okay, so this review has a lot of hyperbole. But the Hungry Nomad has the kind of goodness that elicits hyperbole.

The Nomad Steak Sandwich is my meal of choice. Really good for the money. The seasoned fries are tasty as well. Another truck I can add to my list and they can count on me to visit them every time they are near the office. Until next time. **2 thumbs up**

Chicken wrap is usually a safe overall bet at any eatery, but for somehow the Hungry Nomad seemed to mess it out. It's most likely because their chicken comes out of a giant costco sized bag and seasoned a bit. I thought the whole point of food trucks is that they're innovative and fresh, I guess that was only in the beginning of the food truck movement.

Yay! I got the pleasure of eating from the Hungry Nomad Truck this evening at the UCLA Health Training Center. I had the Mediterranean steak sandwich and the bleu cheese steak sandwich with french fries. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! Big shout out to Isaac and Anthony for their over-the-top QUALITY service! This was a great experience!

I ordered two carne asada, one chorizo, and one al pastor. The condiment setup was also really good. Let me tell you, this hit the spot! I loved the grilled onions, serranos, hot sauce, and especially the curtido de habanero,so good. The carne asada was okay slightly on the tougher side but the chorizo and al pastor were really solid. Taco prices are fair, but the aguas frescas felt a bit on the expensive side. Overall, I'd definitely come back again.

Since we were there pretty early there were no lines and seemed like a good amount of vendors were already set up. We decided to look through all the stalls and then decided what to order. We got a ton of things and everything we ordered were less than $15. They included grilled squid body ($13), bbq pork or chicken skewers (10/$10!!), Laos sausage ($5), pandan and Thai tea buns (3/$6), longan juice ($5), Thai tea ($4), beef soup ($10), pandan and coconut jello ($5), and nam khao tod ($10). Everything was delicious! My favorites were the pork skewers (so juicy), the pandan bun (strong pandan flavor and not too sweet), the squid (came with an awesome garlic sauce), and the nam khao tod (so savory and goes great with the lettuce)! All the vendors were extremely friendly and suggested things to try or gave out samples. I think some vendors were missing at the time we went like the pandan crepes, crispy pork belly, and seafood so I would definitely come back to try them but also get some of the same things! It was super cool to be able to experience this because there were a lot of items that I hadn't seen before or as often in Thai restaurants in the US.

The place is Alejandra's, and the creation is some of the best quesadillas you can get in LA. Coming up to the stand, you eye the menu and make your order, $8 dollars each or $10 for a dual topping type. There is potentially a bit of a wait due to every meal being freshly made on order, but it is a good and worthwhile wait, the staff, clientele, and food being most hospitable. At your order, purple dough is flattened to a blue corn tortilla, each tortilla freshly pressed and grilled in front of you. You watch it sizzle and rise brown, flip over, and continue its cycle to grow crisp. Topping highlights for me include squash blossoms and pork, which is chicharrones with a surprising crisp and crunch better than almost any other I've had, the ring of each bite echoing autumn leaves crunching under my feet, its condensed jerky flavour hemorrhaging in the still present sweetness of a meat once juicy. The stand provides a salsa bar with red and green sauces available, and other vegatative essentials- onion, cilantro, and pepper- serve as a lush and fresh forestry for the surprisingly substantial spice of the salsa to lick upon; piled upon the mountain of food and flavour, the green and red splatters evoked the Hollywood Hills, the red salsa smokey and particularly burning like the fires of last year. It's an addicting taste well worth the visit and short walk to sit and enjoy the meal in Echo Park. I'm excited to come back and try more ingredients for sure, very likely two or three quesadillas at a time to help expedite the process, as it can't be helped. 6.4/10
