Ok, so this is my last NYC review. The last night I was in town I met a friend at this place for apps. and beer. The beer was awesome they have Hogardeen which is my all time favorite beer. The apps I would not suggest but the beer and the ambiance were very nice. For a late night beer its right in the middle of Time Square so its a cool location also. read more

Have been here several times for drinks & dessert, and for dinner. Great place close to theaters for a quick bit before, or drinks after a show. I recommend the steak salad, and the soups are delish. The house drinks are usually pretty strong. Desserts are good. Wait staff is a bit overwhelmed sometimes, as it is a popular (crowded) place, but good. Go drinks but not for restaurant. That's the bottom line. Food service is marginal. Additionally, we pre purchased 3 adult 3-course meals thru NYCVP travel agency. NYCVP ensured all was set, but our vouchers were not updated to indicate 3 meals. Upon presentation, we were told only 2 would be honored not 3. Surprisingly spacious and not too touristy for times square. Bar downstairs and really nice dining room upstairs. Great for a bit to eat before catching a show. Food was just okay, wait staff was horrible. Went after seeing Springsteen on Broadway on Saturday. Waiter took our order, someone else brought our food out and we never received our soups or my mother's additional drink, received a less than sympathetic apology from the waiter once another person on staff checked on us and let him know - this was after we finished our other food so we no longer wanted the soup. Even though we were clearly done with our food, it took a solid 10-15 minutes before we were able to flag someone down for our check. read more

Hurley's is a fun bar with a great cocktail menu and fun eats. It's just off Time's Square but bartender Stephen is the greatest of all time!! We first met him a few years ago three episodes before the series finale of Breaking Bad. We were in NYC with our best friends. For some reason, our hotel did not have AMC. After walking the City for nearly an hour trying to find a venue that would turn the show on for us (one waitress told us she would not let us watch it because she was not yet caught up on the series!), we found our guy! Stephen not only opened up the entire second half of the bar for us, he treated us like royalty! We had the greatest night ever -- watching the show and the after-show. We drank. We ate. We took pictures. On our bar tab, he called us "Breaking Badasses." On subsequent trips, we visited Hurleys but never saw Stephen. We were sad to miss him. Last week, we went back to Hurleys with our friends again. Lo and behold, Saint Stephen was there. We thought there was no way he would remember us. He looked at us and said, "BREAKING BADASSES!!" This guy -- he made our night out so much fun! He treated all four of us, and our other friends, so well. He is amazing at what he does. So fun, so awesome, so fast. He is incredibly nice, hilarious, master of all flammable drinks. You HAVE to go to Hurley's. Ask for Stephen. Tell him the Breaking Badasses sent you. And, then tip him outrageously. The beer and food are cheap, the crowd is friendly, the upstairs indoor/outdoor bar is amazing on a nice day, and the Mac and Cheese Wedges are TO DIE FOR. An odd mix of theatre going tourists and office happy hours make for a weird crowd, but there is actually a decent amount of seating. The bartenders are friendly but a bit flaky as our tab was neither closed, nor apparently even charged. The sofas around are comfy and offer adequate seating for the crowd that seems to gather around the door. The place is such a classic post-theater hang out. A lot of the local Broadway actors come in there (and were eating there when I was). To top it off the service was great. Didn't have a reservation before the show and got seated for 4 by the super nice hostess. Our first time here so had no clue. We were seeing A Bronx Tale right next door. We dined upstairs near the front window. The wait staff was terrific and attentive. Food was fantastic. Best hangar steak in the city. French onion soup has never pleased me more. This review is based on a private party and not the restaurant per se, but hopefully this is helpful to some. I hosted my 40th bday party at Hurley's, and it was absolutely fantastic. The entire 3rd floor was available for my group of about 40 people, with our own bartender (cash bar or per person fee open bar), which includes an enclosed rooftop. The space was more than adequate in size and decor. We brought in our own music (when you're old like me, you want your own tunes, not lame club music that's pumped up so high you can't hear your own thoughts) and there were four tv's that were at our disposal as well. Our group didn't order much food, but the wings we got were excellent. They also allowed us to use part of the space for a slideshow presentation, and we also granted a private door so that my guests didn't need to walk through the restaurant to get to the party. If my girlfriend hadn't insisted we take a look at Hurley's as an option, it never would have happened. Theater district, Irish pub, tourists from hell. These are not the ingredients for a special event. But Hurley's delivered in a huge way and everyone was impressed. I would strongly recommend it for any private event. Cheers to Hurley's! read more

We got the chicken and vegetables, the chicken pot pie and the fish and chips; all very simple meals but absolutely delicious! This is one of my favorite bars anywhere. Last time I was in New York, I made sure to stop in twice. The beer is cold, its not so loud that you can't have a conversation, the other drunks are amiable (one of our friends even gave us surprisingly accurate directions to NYU from the bar) and the bartenders are actually nice.If Ben is there ask him how he feels about Campari. I'm not in love with the location because unless I am seeing a show I try to avoid the Time Square area as though it is full of lepers, zombie and the bubonic plague. read more

Celebrated my 30th birthday here last night. It was a private party room on the 3rd floor. I had the floor to myself. I had about 40-45 people. They have the equipment to bring a ipod or you can have a DJ like I had last night, FYI if you bring a DJ he cant blast the music as there are people having dinner on the 2nd floor and people live above the other floors. SMDH other than that the place is great. I order various appetizer...the vegetable crudites, wings and mozzarella sticks were good. You are able to have cash bar but the minimum to have the party is $1200. So basically if you don't reach the minimum then the you have to cover the rest. The drinks are about $9 and beers were like $6 or $7 dollars. You have your own private bathroom and bar with a waiter. I give this place 2 thumbs up!!! The manager is awesome. The Hanger Steak salad at Hurley's must be one of the best values in Manhattan. It's visually attractive with a broad selection of ingredients including fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and roasted red peppers. I've had it no less than 20 times at the bar. The steak itself is outstanding, and the balsamic dressing excellent. The price amazes me as well. read more

The atmosphere here is perfect. Cosy nooks and an old-timey pub feel. I liked it. I was told it was the best burger in the world, but I found it to be a little underseasoned and soggy. We went to an afternoon show. This was the perfect place to have lunch. The food was very good. Our group had Pizza, salads, and sandwiches. The decor is very old fashion and theater like. They have plenty of seating in the saloon and in the restaurant. We made reservations, but most likely didn't need them for lunch.
