Stopped in late on a Saturday night for food and drinks. It took a few minutes to be seated, since no one came to greet us. I'm not sure why that is. Once we were finally seated though, I noticed the place was really nice and the decor was great. The waiters were very nicely dressed, which I'd hoped was a sign our food would be great. We were excited to try the seafood Mac and cheese, so we ordered it, along with French onion soup, calamari, and a dirty martini. The calamari was good, as was the soup. My drink wasn't the best though. It definitely tasted watered down, and for over $10 a drink, that's a rip off. The worst part was when our meal finally came. As soon as the waiter put the seafood Mac and cheese down, I knew it was burnt. Not only could I smell it, but the top had burned spots on it. The sauce was also very runny, not thick like it should be. Very disappointing. The waiter did take it back, and he was very polite about it. My appetite was gone after trying the Mac and cheese, so I didn't order anything else. The waiter took it off our bill, of course, and we settled up and left. I don't know if this was just one bad night or what, but we probably wouldn't come back, even for the watered down drinks. The food was very poorly presented and prepared, garlic onion soup just having cheese and nothing else, a dry, over cooked piece of chicken, bland potatoes, a mediocre penne undercooked, food took way too much to come out; would not recommend for big parties, but the service was still slow and they did not give everyone on the table a potato with the mai course. read more

Stopped here for dinner before a show and what a good find this was. Delicious food and great service. Many comfort foods offered and a beer list that is vast - although the one beer that we wanted was out of stock. (Would have been great to start off with "we don't have these tonight." The service was great and the staff was accommodating (we asked to sit downstairs because someone in our group could not do stairs) and seating was comfortable. I would return again! read more

I just finished having an event here. A party for the 4 year anniversary of the Meetup.com group I run. I decided to use them after I went to a friends birthday party. Hurley's is so amazing and so helpful that I am afraid to write this revue and give away a secret. Hurley's will let you use their 3rd floor space for an event with no up front charge. Just make sure your guests keep eating and drinking. While there tonight, we had use of an input jack for our Ipod and control of the volume and the room lighting. The bar tender was cordial and friendly. The food came quickly and when we ordered group appetizers the waiters passed the trays around the room. They even provided plates and a knife for cutting a party cake. and i almos forgot, they even provided tape to help us put up decorations. They have a projector rig and pull down screen that we also made use of with assistance from the bar tender. The food itself is very good pub faire, but it veers on the side of being too salty. Overall, the amazing party I just came back from was partially to thank because of the efforts of the Hurley's staff. read more

This place is in business because of "location, location, location." Being in the theater district, it's easy to get a steady stream of first-time customers. I don't think they get too much repeat business. The price for a fixed-price meal is decent at $32, but there's nothing spectacular about this place. The food is average, maybe. Is that store-bought gravy on my veal? The garlic mashed potatoes are too garlic-y and clearly not made in house. And the presentation? It's clear they were spooned out and placed on a plate without any thought of presentation. The worst part of the meal is the "auctioning of food". If you're unfamiliar with restaurant terms, this means that the food runner brings your food to the table, and has no idea where anything goes. "Who had the salmon? Who had the chicken?" This is completely unacceptable in any environment, but you're a restaurant in the theater district of New York City. Show some class. My gosh, it's not that simple to correct this: use the seat number functionality from your stupid point of sale system so you know exactly where the items go. Come on, management. In short, if you want a meal that's edible and not overly pricey, this isn't bad. If you're looking for any sort of classy service and above average taste, this isn't it. read more

A pretty typical midtown pub. The clientele is mixed between theater patrons and (both from the conversations overheard and the decor) military personnel and firemen. It's big, crowded, and it has a nice, old-fashioned bar. Service was a bit slow, and the drinks selection was unremarkable, but if you're just looking to grab a quick pint before heading in to your Broadway show, this place'll do the trick. read more

It's one of the favorite places for a friend and I to go and we were happy that they were still open. Their wings are delicious, the mozzarella sticks was more mozzarella than breading but was good. I missed having their baked clams but maybe when things get busier around there, they'll put them back on the menu. The wait staff was very nice and they have a really good choice of beers. If you can't find it because of all of the scaffolding, no worries, there are plenty of banners and signs telling you where they are. Can't wait until they open up the upstairs space again. My cousins and I came here after night in the city. It was close to our hotel. Of course we had been drinking and we just wanted some food to sober up. My salad was good, my cousin had to return the spinach dip as she did not like it. The spinach dip looked like it had been sitting out for a while. My other cousin had the shrimp cocktail, she said the food was marginal, as well. Our server was excellent. I had to order a to go sandwich for my mother to take back to the hotel. I thought her sandwich was pretty good, it was a club sandwich. Nothing special about this place. Nothing bad either. read more

Five of us arrived here today for lunch and we all enjoyed what we ordered. My favorite items on the menu are the Steak Salad and Lobster Bisque Soup. Always my number 1 spot when I'm in Times Square. A great wrap around bar downstairs with the best bartenders in NYC. Just might spend St. Patrick's Day here with friends. read more

Very convenient location and very nostalgic building with a wrap around U shaped bar that that starts in one building and ends in the next. Wide beer selection and the burgers were outstanding. I am only giving two stars as we went in on a Sat night and the customer service was poor. One side of the downstairs was 75% full and the other side had just a few people. The help seemed plentiful, however, not everyone was working hard. Several employees gathered in front of the television including the manager. One bartender continually questioned why they couldn't close one side of the first floor down - it was 9 PM on a Saturday night and people were filing in - was like he never been out in the Theater District on a Sat night. Our bartender was working hard, however, she was the only one. The location is excellent, the food is good (especially the burgers) and the inside is cool - if they can get the customer service aspect down it would be a regular place for me. read more

We went to Hurley's after getting frustrated with the 1 hour wait minimum at any good restaurant on Time Square. There was a hostess outside working to get clients in. We ordered the soup of the day, a broccoli cream. Nothing extraordinary, a bit salty. We also ordered a spinach and artichoke dip. While it did taste like it was made with fresh ingredients, it missed a bit of flavour and was also overly salty. My chicken Penne in vodka sauce was average at best and my bf's filet mignon was also a bit salty but good. If a place has no line up when everywhere else has a one hour wait minimum, ask yourself questions. This place is pricey for the quality of the food that is served. We won't go back read more

Went to this establishment on Monday night after making a reservation earlier in the afternoon. It was next to our Broadway show "You Can't Take it With You" we were seeing that evening and was also conveniently across from our Hotel. Service was excellent, my wife ordered their Shepperds Pie and I went with the Chicken Pot Pie which had a Fresh flaky crust on top. Both dishes were not huge and were easy to finish before our show. Two glasses of wine and then coffee finished our evening at this nice establishment. Everyone around us seemed to enjoy the atmosphere and food, so give it a shot before you listen to some of the negative reviews in here. read more

We stopped in for a drink before seeing 'Amelie' at Kerr Theater. Yeah, this was a while ago. It was a little early in the day, so there weren't too many people. Nice atmosphere for a pub though, bartenders were pleasant. It was nice to get out of the heat and relax and enjoy a cold brew that day. read more

I held my birthday party in the Rooftop Beer Garden this August and it was wonderful. There weren't any room reservation fees and because this is in the theater district, we had a totally private room Saturday night. Staff was great to work with and the snack platters I ordered were served beautifully to my friends, not thrown on a table. The garden doesn't have a great view, but it's decorated beautifully with tons of flowers. Doesn't feel like you're in the middle of Times Square at all, yet everyone is near a train to get there. A lot of my friends will be having parties there now! read more

Food and service were both great! So convenient right before a show. We got the French onion soup which was excellent. Also tried the Sheppard's Pie and the Chicken Pot Pie. Both were very good! Chicken Pot Poe doesn't have a lot of "pie." Just a square of puff pastry placed on top, but the flavoring of the "inside" was very good!! another pub burger (or "room service" burger as i like to call them). it's the kind that you swear is the most amazing thing you've ever tasted after getting to a hotel and having it delivered to your fat face. but in reality it's rather paint-by -numbers. Hurley's is not a hotel. at least I don't think it is. i've only ever ordered delivery. the patty is thick but not too thick. the beef is an OK blend. a little gristly at times but overall tasty and fresh. the bun is a decent sesame seed number. the fries are basic pub fries. this burger is nothing spectacular but a solid lunch item or, i'm certain, a perfect accompaniment to 2 or 3 pints. read more

No wonder the downstairs was packed with people at the bar. The upstairs was completely empty. We got sat at the loudest table in the entire upstairs even though every table was empty. Our table was right next to a staircase that brought you down to the bar. Even though the upstairs was empty I couldn't even hear the person sitting across from me. Came here after going to the Attic. Looking for some fast food and some cheap drinks. We went there and got some shots and food. The shots were huge which was a plus!!! The food was piping hot and good. We ordered chicken tenders and french fries. Overall it was a good time. The music wasn't loud and the place wasn't crowded. We found this spot last minute looking for a place to get a beer after finishing our taxes. It has a large, long bar which had a lot of people so we thought that was a good sign. We were wrong, this is def. a tourist trap. This place blew, first I had to get the hostess to come over twice to get someone to clean the table. I still do not understand why she just could not get a washcloth and do it herself. She went in the back to get a busboy & a waiter. Our waiter seemed exasperated that he had to help us, he came over got our drink order, my husband's food order and then walked away. I never even ordered and ended up getting annoyed. We then moved over to the bar when 2 stools opened, thinking that had to be better service. The bartender had no personality, didn't smile, stayed all the way on the other end with regulars. Every time I needed something I would have to wave or get the hostess, it drove us nuts. Finally, my burger came but my husband who ordered 15 minutes before me didn't get this yet. I ate, finished & still nothing. I saw the original server & bartender talking, then the server came over, apologized that he never put his food in. The bartender didn't do anything, really didn't even care....I mean can we get a round of drinks on you. Hello..!?? After almost an hour waiting on a burger, we paid let, still left a tip (almost left a dollar) and said never again. Move on if you see this spot, there are some many bars who want your business around there and the bartender will be happy to serve you. read more

I was very impressed with Hurley's. The food, beer, and service were great. First the beer...Pros-they have a large selection of draft beers. Cons-a little pricey at $6.25 per pint, but this is New York City. Food...The Lobster Bisque was very good and had chunks of crab meat in it. I had the Yellow Fin Tuna, which was prepared exactly as I asked. My wife had the Tuscan half chicken, which she said was excellent. My son had the Berry Hill chicken, which I tasted, and was very good. The pricing for the food was way below what I expect to pay in NYC, especially with the size of the portions they serve. The total bill for our meal and drinks came to $99...2 soups, 3 entrees, 4 draft beers and a coke. Server... Our server was right on top of everything. We never had to wait for anything. If and when I return to NYC, I will definitely return to Hurley's read more

Ok, so this is my last NYC review. The last night I was in town I met a friend at this place for apps. and beer. The beer was awesome they have Hogardeen which is my all time favorite beer. The apps I would not suggest but the beer and the ambiance were very nice. For a late night beer its right in the middle of Time Square so its a cool location also. read more
