great place in Poughkeepsie!! good selections of beer and the tap beer is ice cold! good wings and apps........the shrimp and conch tacos are great. Good place to watch sports. This place would get 4 stars or maybe even 5, but when I place an order for delivery, it's a roll of the dice to see if I'll get my entire order in one trip or even at all. The food is great and the prices aren't the worst, buts it's not "cheap" so when you're charged full price and only get 3/4 of your order, that's not good. The place can do with better management as they told me I should of made sure I told them I wanted the side order that some with my meal. I'm a college student and me and my girl order food last week and it was delivery to us 3 hours later , the food was cold and soggy. We called to to talk to the manager and see if we can get a fresh order since our order was not Appetizing anymore. They said they would call back and never did so we called the next day and was told by the manager that they were sorry about that and they would call back again later to work something out. They never called back again , me and my gf have called at least 8 time trying to talk to a manager and get a hold of someone that can solve our issue but it seems like the management doesn't care and will put your issue besides them. The kettle cooked jumbo shrimp weren't exactly jumbo but were tasty. The crab and corn chowder was also very good but not the Manhattan Harbor conch chowder. The staff is very friendly. The waiter has checked on us several time, given the fact this is a new restaurant it is not surprising. We had the nachos as a starter; they were tasty and had just enough kick. The boneless wings were ok. Nothing special. They have a variety of sauces you can add to the wings or any menu item. Liking a sweeter sauce I chose the Honey BBQ. it had an overwhelming honey flavor, which was way too sweet. It was as if I was eating honey candy coated chicken. Ordered food from here to be delivered via grubhub. The driver went to the wrong address due to an issue grub hub had in their systems. When asked if they could redeliver it to the correct address, which was much closer to the business and probably on the driver's way back to the restaurant, we were told they didnt have time for us and we needed to sort it out with grubhub. Called grubhub and then grubhub called the restaurant. Grubhub tried to explain the situation and they were told that we needed to re-place the order at this point......yet the driver had our food and we had already been waiting two hours. Told grubhub that we wanted to cancel the order and so they did. We get food for lunch and eat and then 30 minutes later I had a delivery guy from the store outside trying to deliver that food, now 2.5 hours old. I told him no thanks. It is absolutely insane to tell customers who have been waiting too bad so sad, especially when they are near the business itself. Also, the business itself seems to be run with poir communication. I felt bad for that driver. We would have paid him more in tip for his troubles if we hadnt been made to feel like we weren't a priority by the restaurant. Been few times now . First time in place was packed on the great Outdoor patio and most inside. Huge TV screens all around and watched the first ranger play clinch against Peniquins. TV 's Some had close caption but non had sound. I thought it was pretty respectful for those that where eating. So I listened on my phone Radio broadcast. Food was great staff was pleasant and manager or owner not sure was greeting everyone and checking up. Second and third times. Food was ok service . Well I don't know if you would call it that sat at the bar both times . Took 15 minutes to get anyone to acknowledge our existence and they were not really as busy as the first visit. Took 30 minutes of completely done and finished just watching staff chat with each other or a few friends obviously at the bar who stopped in. Finally politely asked for the check. I have had generally very pleasant experiences at Hurricane. The food has been up to par and the staff did kindly take care of my order when there was a mix up. And excellent Margaritas. My most recent experience left a bit to be desired regarding my group's server. They never actually said their name and gave us hardly anytime to look over our menus. I kind of just shook it off. But they also kept trying to clear our table while we were actively eating our meal. Then as soon as we finished, while I was still drinking my full margarita they tried to clear our entire table, including my drink. It definitely felt as if he was trying to rush us out from the start. Then we asked for our checks and waited for our change, to leave a tip. Well he just took out money, giving us no change and gave us a look of disbelief when we asked for it. This was definitely one of my most unpleasant dining experiences, but it definitely will not stop me from coming back. read more

The food was delicious! The service was great! The decor was very inviting. The only thing we weren't crazy about was the loud music and all of the very large TV's. We could see about 20-25 with different channels (no sound) just from where we sat. If you like that kind of atmosphere in a restaurant, you will love this place. I was so anxious to try Hurricane Wings in Poughkeepsie, as this was close to my workplace and the menu looked wonderful. I stopped in at 11:30AM to order "to go" lunch because I did not want to get caught waiting for very long to pick up my food with the bulk of the lunch crowd later (only have 1 hour for lunch). Placed my order for mahi fish tacos and was asked if I wanted sour cream OR salsa. Puzzled, I said sour cream. While waiting for the order and re-reading the menu, I noticed that sour cream, guacamole and salsa came with the entree, so I questioned it to another staff member who told me that they all do in fact come with that entree. Why I was given a choice of two I do not know. The 10-15 minute wait time I was told my my order taker turned into 35 minutes. While waiting, a nice staffer came out to me a few times to apologize for the wait and for the condiment confusion. When the food was ready, I had to wait an additional 5 minutes because I was paying with cash and only one of their registers could accept cash at that time, and they were busy ringing up other patrons. No offers of discount for my excessive wait or trouble with order. I paid and left. Lets get to the food now.... When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was how dinky the two fish tacos and fries looked for $12.99. The second thing I noticed was that the fries were NOT the Hurricane parmesean/garlic fires that the fella who took my order said they would be. They were just regular fries, now soggy and rather salty. In addition, the side cup of sour cream was placed INSIDE the food box, so now it was nice and warm and separating. The fish tacos themselves were pretty bad. Overcooked and tough, with NO seasoning, I almost thought that they put chicken inside instead of the mahi fish due to the generic taste and look. In fact, the whole taco lacked any sort of seasoning and was a bland soggy mess. Even the gold rush sauce was very flavorless. So with the 10 minutes I had left to eat my lunch, I only took 3 bites and threw the rest out. Bottom line is I am somewhat turned off to this place now, but may try them again in the future, assuming that they are just getting their act together having been open for only a week. read more

Hurricane is a cool little spot in PK. Went to college over here so coming back to visit I was looking for a spot to eat with some friends. We went into Hurricane and it was very nice. Place was highly recommended so I thought I would give it a try. Big mistake. The interior is sort of like sitting in a nautical barn. The food is bar type food on the low end. The service sucks. The price is about average but they nickle & dime you for everything. If you want cheese or bacon or other toppings on your burger they are 79 cents each. All of the above could be corrected if you had management that gave a crap but they don't. Maybe if the owners of this chain would visit some of the stores they own they might put in new management. A few weeks ago a friend and I went to grab a few drinks and an appetizer and our bartender was Clint. He was awesome. The food was good atmosphere was great with the windows to the outside patio opened and the sun shining beachy feel. We went back because we had such a great experience the first time and were hit with an even better experience. Probably the best service I have ever had. The bartender came over right away and made our drinks. I wanted something different and without hesitation she offered a great substitute. Finished that and wanted another and yet again she came up with another awesome drink. Each time my friend and i couldn't stop commenting on how amazing she is! When we asked how long she had been there she said five days! Couldn't believe it! Savanah is truly amazing at her job. The manager and owner came over to check on us as they did the time before and we really like that it's important to feel appreciated when in a establishment and this entire staff does nothing but show you that. Come here for the great food and not much else. It's basically a beach themed buffalo wild wings. It is very hard to hear in there. The servers often have to yell for you to hear them. The alcoholic beverages/cocktails are disgusting. The service you get varies depending on when you go. Most servers don't even bother checking I.d. The location of the place is kind of weird. So basically the only reason they'll last is because of their great wings with 30 flavors to choose from. read more
