I'm not normally one to swoon over chain restaurants, but I have to say I was quite impressed with this Hurricane Grill!! Located inside the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge / Indoor Waterpark where we were staying, this was a convenient meal for us before hitting the road back to Long Island. Our last time to this hotel, there was a Johnny Rockets in this space, and they also have Tall Tales Tavern right near the lobby, which is pretty solid. Our server, Hannah, was incredible! She was sweet and patient from start to finish, answering questions about the food, and even bringing out a flight of sauces for us to decide how we wanted to have our wings! I wasn't expecting them to have a Bavarian pretzel on the menu but after seeing it come out a few times to adjacent tables and its sheer size, we snagged one as well! Based on the name I'm thinking a beachy cool vibe...blue tones, fiberglass shark and surfboards...island music. Cavernous, warm and humid, with a Miami Vice color scheme (but where the day-glo orange seating fits into that?) was somewhat disappointing - it shouted bland. But hey that's how I would describe the staff in the forest green shirts and the food. Don't get me wrong, the staff was friendly but clearly uninspired-maybe the fact that it was hot and humid outside and felt the same inside was weighing them down too. Drinks menu and beer selection were impressive. Menu was basically bar food with a nod to spicy. We ordered nachos ands steak burger. Apparently the intention is eating with your hands. We had to ask several times for utensils and plates. Good size portion of nachos topped with beans in a chili sauce, mystery melted cheese, jalapeños and chewy chips - it was there, we ate it and all you could say was it was okay. Ditto the bland burger on a plain bun with a little pile of standard fries - one bite and it was meh. Being in a tourist area the need to impress probably doesn't matter; there's always another new customer - at least during the season. $50 for nachos, burger, soda and beer. read more

The garlic parm wings were delicious. Perfect crisp! I got the nachos with chicken. The chicken chunks were pretty big so I cut them up. Plenty of everything on the chips!! My dinner mate got the steak and broccoli and fries. She ate the whole thing!! She said the steak was great. I tried the broccoli and the fries and they were both really good too. The beer was cold and helped me to drown out the children everywhere which is to be expected because the place is kid friendly and is located in a kid friendly environment. Ha, I really didn't mind. I have gone to Hurricane once before last year and that experience was pleasant. This one was not. I walk in with a friend and review the menu before deciding to eat in. My friend wasn't going to eat anything, just came with me for the vibe. We sit and it's a notable time but nothing crazy before we get our drinks, two waters. I put my order in, the mushroom burger medium rare with a house salad instead of fries, with italian dressing. The server confirms they have italian dressing. 25 minutes goes by and server comes over to apologize about the wait and that my food'll be out in a few minutes. Meanwhile the table directly behind me, 7 top, are complaining since it's been 2 hours since they ordered and only got a few meals served one at a time. 45 minutes goes by and by this point I'm hungry. It's clear that they were understaffed and I asked my server how long it will actually be. Keep in mind that it's no where near busy. Maybe 7 tables tops on the inside, maybe a few outside. As I'm waiting for "a few minutes," I overhear a different server greeting a new table and informing them that three people in the kitchen walked out. 15 minutes later I get my food. It's a burger and house salad, brought out by a different server. She asks what dressing I had and I said italian. They don't have italian dressing, and honestly I don't want to eat a salad with no dressing or the options they had, ranch, blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette, and one other one I believe. So I politely ask for broccoli instead when offered something else. I eat a few bites of my burger, so hungry I didn't look down. When I do, I see that it's raw. A different server than both previous ones comes over to soften the blow as I just ate raw beef. I tell her I'd like to speak to a manager, but she comes back herself and says that she had talked to the manager and comped the whole meal. Of course, I wasn't going to pay for an hour and a half wait for one entree that is raw. I didn't bring any cash to tip since I was going to do a credit tip. Then she tells me that she would have to charge me something for that to be possible. I thanked them for their time and left. Don't go here until they're staffed. We stopped in here not knowing what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has an open feel to it with both booths and tables. They have a bar area with a throw back vib of 50's counter bar and outside walk up ordering. It is open and we'll lit, and the tables are not on top of eachother. The food was outstanding and came quickly. Our server was Hanna G, and she was a top tier server, friendly and attentive (give that girl a raise, shes a keeper). The have a preety good selection of draft beers (and had my tradional Amber!!) with IPA choices also. Full bar. If your staying at their hotel, this would be a prime spot for dinner or lunch. The prices are reasonable, service great, food very good, and beer is cold... what more could you ask for? read more

Gary was awesome! Unfortunately the food was cold and took forever to come out. Somehow even after just spent two hours over cooking the fried chicken still came out mostly cold. There were only 3 other tables with people! We were waiting for about 45 minutes before the first food came. Then waited a while for the rest of the party's food to come out. We were already almost done before their food arrived. Total time for the 5 of us over 2 hours. The only reason for one star is Gary. read more

The booth seats were actually pretty comfortable which was great for how long you have to wait for your food to come out. Service was terrible, had to ask another waitress to get our waitress just to get drink refills. Also had to ask for silverware, and napkins...almost like I was expected to have just brought my own from home. Also the restaurant was 1/4 full...still a 30 minute wait that turned into a 45 minute wait...so if you want to eat here id plan on showing up an hour or two early. read more

Would have liked to eat here considering we were a family of five staying at the Great Escape Lodge. They pushed the Hurricane Grill as their new great restaurant. Hours don't match with what is advertised online and in house. The manager was very rude! And we arrived at 8:30. We were told the is an hour and half wait and it doesn't matter because they close at 10pm. So you should find some where else to eat. read more

Very clean very friendly staff. Food was good. I recommend the Bavarian pretzel with cheese. Good parking. Attached to hotel and indoor waterpark. Be prepared for people in bathing suits and heavy coats. read more

I honestly don't even know where to start. This place is a complete disaster from top to bottom. From the moment we walked in, we were met with chaos and zero hospitality. We stood awkwardly at the entrance for almost 20 minutes while staff clumsily prepared our table in a pretty much empty restaurant. When we were finally seated, it took another 20 minutes just to get a drink. The food situation was a disaster, followed by an employee sloppily mopping the floor right next to us. And if my appetite wasnt already ruined, the Fabuloso sealed the deal. The manager totally avoided us. No apology. No fix. Just indifference wrapped in attitude. The service was ok, the server was nice and apologetic. But it was too little too later. I left angry, hungry, and amazed that this place is still in business. Do yourself a favor: stay far, far away. Go to literally any other restaurant. Your stomach and your sanity will thank you read more

We love Hurricanes, but not this one. We used to frequent a Hurricanes on Long Island and it was our go to place. We loved the ambiance, food and drinks (especially the Margaritas!) We missed Hurricanes when we moved to Lake George and were excited to have one opening near us. We decided to go for my husband's birthday and we were so disappointed. There was no ambiance. It was a white room with NO decorations, no beachy, tropical, Caribbean vibe. The food was ok, but greasy. Fried food is usually served on paper to help absorb the grease. The dishes were plain white dishes that you might find in any cafeteria. The resturant was clearly catering to the attached hotel that caters to kids. We felt out of place. We will probably not be returning. We will drive to Long Island for a good Hurricane experience. read more
