Stopped by for lunch off-season. Plenty of tables and parking. Décor is typical beach tourism. Service was friendly and genuine. Lunch menu is expansive, but not overwhelming. I had fried shrimp, fries, and slaw. Meal took less than 10 minutes to arrive and hot food was hot, slaw nicely chilled. Fries are excellent, crispy. Slaw appears homemade, a nice plus. Shrimp were nicely sized, thinly battered (which is good; I'm here to eat seafood, not batter). 3 Sauce choices: red cocktail, tartar, and spicy tartar. Overall, an excellent meal. Prices are typical of OBX. I chuckle when I hear folks complaining things are too expensive here. Think about how long it took you to drive here. Your food comes along the same long roads. read more

We were back again this year, in time for the 3-6PM happy hour specials, including $0.15 peel-and-eat shrimp. We ordered 60 of those, plus the calamari, and of course, she crab soup. The soup was as good as we remember, and the shrimp were tender and cooked to perfection. The calamari had lots of the "little guys," in addition to the rings, and was good, but nothing special. This is by far my favorite laid back restaurant in the Outer Banks that is really close to the beach and has the best Happy Hour! (located at mile marker 4) The island theme of this family friendly restaurant is hard to miss with the huge ceiling mural and they also have a covered outdoor deck bar that has live music some nights. They have a decent beer selection, good margaritas and you can get a souvenir glass if you ordered one of Mo's signature cocktails. Happy Hour: 10 cent steamed shrimp with butter and cocktail sauce $1.00 tacos-toppings are 25 cents each sour cream, tomato, salsa, onion and jalapenos or get that all for $1.00. 35 cent wings and a little extra for blue cheese, ranch or celery *You need to order a regular priced menu item to get the happy hour, even if it is just a beverage. The tacos are good but, I live in Texas so I usually skip them now. My favorite is the shrimp and the wings, the shrimp is fresh and cooked perfectly so the shells peel easily. The wings are always crispy and the flavor is good. I have also had the She Crab Soup and Crab dip and those are two of my favorite regular menu items and the seasoning in both of these dishes are completely unique to this restaurant. You can really taste all the seafood is fresh caught and homemade. The staff is really knowledgeable, friendly and quick to get you drink refills and cash you out. Went here tonight for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised with my experience. From the outside the place doesn't look like much but the food is fantastic! We got the crab dip and shrimp quesadillas and the crab dip was phenomenal, one of the best I've ever had. For dinner I had the mahi mahi meal which was served with coconut rice. The whole meal was very flavorful and filling. Our waitress was also so friendly and was full of great recommendations for dinner. Come here for happy hour! Wings are delicious and the shrimp is fantastic. We come here every time we are in OBX...Be warned though, our waitress refused to split our 7 top happy hour checks. We ordered regular entrees as well as happy hour items. So just keep in mind apparently you can't pay separately for what you just got as far as happy hour goes. Hopefully they changed that, going there in 2 weeks, will update review accordingly. Otherwise it's great and the service has always been prompt. read more

My wife and I came here for dinner on vacation. This is a fairly standard neighborhood beach restaurant/bar. Not particularly great, but not bad either. For an appetizer we had the chips and salsa, which was exactly what you'd expect. We each ordered one of their cocktails - I had the Hurricane Mo, a tropical rum and juice blend - and she had a Funky Monkey which is a banana chocolate cocktail. Both of these were pretty good. My wife had the "cocomo mahi" which is a dolphin filet marinated in coconut rum and lime juice. Having never eaten dolphin before, we were skeptical but pleasantly surprised. I can't really explain how it tastes, but it was very flavorful. They had a few other dolphin dishes on the menu too. Meanwhile, I opted for the blackened fish tacos - which were also pretty good. Our waitress was keeping busy, but we asked twice for water right at the beginning, and she never brought it. My wife finally got tired of waiting and walked up to the bar to get two glasses of water. The total was about $60 pre-tip, which is a reasonable price considering 2 fish entrees, 2 alcoholic drinks, and an appetizer, in a vacation town setting. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here again, but if you happen to be there, it might be worth trying out. read more

We had a great time here we had a party of eight with a lot of kids and they were very accommodating. We had a kid with a peanut allergy and the hostess must have checked with me six times to make sure everything was okay. The seafood was amazing. The oysters Mo are a must. I got the fried seafood platter and very much enjoyed it everyone in our party enjoyed the meal and the host and the waiter were very good. one thing I would say is the bartender's seem to care less when I went to the bar to get a drink, but once they got to me it was good. read more

When I went to Hurricane Mo's, I was greeted by the host and seated promptly. I had a very friendly waitress and they have Robert Mondovi wines as their house wine and they are really good. I ordered the crab cakes which were tasty along with a baked potato and vegetables that were really fresh. Their chocolate peanut butter pie is a must try. I wish I could give it five stars, but I felt that it only earned four stars and I will tell you why. I was seated by myself because I was traveling alone. They said that the entree came with fresh bread. Well, I noticed that tables around me got bread, but none came to me. When I asked about it, the waitress said, "we only give bread to tables with two or more entrees." She did bring me bread, only because I asked, otherwise I would have given even less stars. The point it, I feel that's they are penalizing people who dine alone for whatever reason and only give fresh bread to those who have parties of two or more. If they are going to do that, then they need to indicate that on their menu, but I really think that's discriminating against those who may come have dinner by themselves, such as business people who travel alone and may dine there. I probably will go there again because I do like the food and was treated decent when I was there, but I don't think it's fair that they bring bread to you as long as you are a party of two or more. They need to learn to treat customers the same, whether they are a party of one or a party of ten. read more

Ok...read about dollar tacos and decided to give it a go...so lets get this out there...the hard shell taco was good. I'm not too into soft tacos but they were both good size and not skimpy. Now, i do Mahi sandwiches. Its my thing...this one is in my top three. The thing that made this memorable was the cajun seasoning and Jalapeño coctail sauce. That stuff made a delicious mess! Dont worry though there are more than enough fries to clean it all up. The Chicken sandwich was "the best I've ever had" from another in my party, and the quesidilla was cheesy and packed with chicken. This place is pretty decent... Can't give it 5 stars for couple reasons... 1. Fish Tacos - only good part was the fish. The fix ins to make the taco yourself were not your normal fish taco fixins. I've never had shredded cheddar cheese in my fish tacos. Although the sticky coconut rice was amazing 2. The waitstaff is not to be desired. They had many loud conversations right near us about all kinds of topic (super unprofessional) didn't feel like we could have our own conversation at our table. It was very odd and not appreciated. With everyone yelping so positive, I believe that most of the time, this place is pretty good, which is the reason why I gave it 2 stars. 3 of us tried to eat there on Mother's Day around 7:00 pm, and a really tiny shrew just had no intention of getting us seated, even though there were several clean and ready tables available. Very disappointed for a few reasons. 1) wing sauce was horrible 2) Cesaer salad was inedible 3) crab cake had a very strange flavor and couldn't finish.
