I can't stand places that deep fry dumplings. The Mongolian Beef was good. A little sweet and the beef melted in my mouth. Service was fast, friendly, and sincere. Good group of people here. My buddy lives in the area so I stopped by to grab some takeout on a Sunday for dinner. Hu's Garden is located in a large shopping center so parking won't be a problem. I went with the sweet and sour pork with fried rice and is listed on part of the menu that comes with an egg roll, crab rangoon, and shrimp toast. Plus a cup of wonton soup to round things out. Wonton is my favorite Chinese soup and it hit the spot with a tasty, clear broth and dumplings. The sweet and sour pork was alright. It's a generous portion with plenty of fried rice (you can also go with steamed rice) plus a good number of sweet and sour pork and your sweet and sour sauce. Sweet and sour is a dish that is pretty similar everywhere since it's fried. The rice lacked flavor. What I'm not a fan of is that their menu is deceiving. 10 or so entrees come with a complimentary appetizer. This was my first time and it was why I ordered the sweet and sour pork. Were it not for the free app, I would have gone with something else. It wasn't until I ordered over the phone that I discovered that the free appetizer, as is indicated on the menu, is not your choice of appetizer. It's the egg roll, crab rangoon, shrimp toast trio I mentioned earlier. The menu should clearly indicate this because as of now, they make it seem like you can choose whatever app you want. read more

While I was eating my food, a large cockroach ran across the floor right from the kitchen! I'm a bit surprised that Hu's Garden doesn't have higher ratings! I guess we've been luckily spared from the bad service aspects mentioned in other reviews. This is our go-to for Chinese takeout and they've always been very quick (I do think they overestimate delivery time so they don't disappoint, ha ha) and competent in delivering the correct orders. The menu is pretty darn expansive and I will caution that if you are a vegan or strict vegetarian, you will have to clarify whether the seemingly plant-based appetizers and entrees are actually suitable for you. Because you know chicken broth and oyster sauce are apparently "vegetarian" when it comes to many Asian restaurants, sigh. My to-go order is the tofu and vegetables in white sauce. Admittedly, it isn't the most flavorful, but it's safely vegan and I usually dress it up with some soy sauce and chili paste at home. The vegetable dumplings are also vegan and quite substantial and delicious. The husband often orders a whole slew of things - vegetable Lo Mein, broccoli and beef, Kung Pao chicken, etc. Hu's Garden will occasionally throw in a box of doughnut-like pastries with our orders, I assume because of the large volume orders we often place (don't judge, life gets too busy for home cookin' sometimes!). The husband and I actually finally dined in recently, sort of spur of the moment and it was actually a pleasant experience. We were a tad apprehensive because the restaurant seemed deserted, but I assume take out and delivery is a significant portion of the restaurant's business so they perhaps don't see too much foot traffic actually in the restaurant? The service was lovely, the staff was very attentive and polite. Prices might be a tad on the higher side than some other Chinese restaurants, but I've never been disappointed in the food quality and service. This is a great place for a simple and easy lunch or dinner! The food is good and prices are very reasonable. It's always nice to have a good Chinese joint in the area so I'm glad we tried this one out. We went around dinner time and they tend to get a little busier then so service was a tad bit slow but everything else was great! We got the sesame beef (extra spicy) and yess they got it just right! I like when the cook makes it spicy while cooking! The portion of rice that comes with the entree is definitely way too small. We also tried the combination lo mein which was very good! We get take out from here all time. I am a fan of their veggie shrimp with asparagus. If you eat this, your pee will smell funny (asparagus). The shrimp actually tastes fishy like real seafood even though it is some sort of soy protein product. They have a large selection of vegetarian dishes. Just simply put and I didn't save a picture as I was so disgusted be AWARE!!!! In one order of shrimp fried rice was a extreme amount of hair!!!! It was a two person sharing at first I did not notice the hair as I was eating but my fiancée became hesitant and begin picking at her mouth, before disposing of the meal it became more sickening when we begin to stir the rice and seen there was even more hair. Of course they were closed for the evening. They was maybe one of my worst experiences, I called in a simple order for a large shrimp fried rice as I had previously picked up some boiled seafood and usually I like to pair it with the fixings of the boil( it allows me to eat to a satisfactory point without over indulging in the boil) sadly all of the food was thrown away as any appetite we had was GONE!
