I was craving some crispy fish and really enjoy the garlic fish fillet dish here. It comes in a tangy sauce with cabbage, baby corn, and mushrooms. It's a very nice portion and pairs well with the steamed rice. We got the sate chicken for an appetizer and it was fresh, hot, and tender. I wanted some noodles so I got a tofu pad Thai. Unfortunately I found it to be overwhelmingly sweet. Even adding plenty of lime and chili did not balance it out. Next time I'll try a different noodle dish. The restaurant is on the smaller side but has a decent amount of seating. The servers are nice. One thing that stuck out for me on this last visit was that the soda sucked. Got a Coca Cola at first and it was very flat and tasted watered down. Then got a sprite and it just tasted off. Overall this is in and enjoyable, chill Thai place in the Bellaire area. read more

This is my first time trying Thai food! I can with my family to have lunch and we saw this place passing by. We were greeted by our server who was very friendly and also spoke Spanish which was great for my parents! The inside is very cozy and nice! The music was at a good level too! I ordered the lunch special Pad Thai with level 3 spicy and it was very good! The spice level was tolerable and delicious! It came with the option of a soup or salad, I got the salad that came with a veggie roll! I ended up getting another order of veggie rolls! As a family, we ordered the spicy basil friend rice with level 3 spice. All of the prices were reasonable and the portions were big! The pad Thai can probably be shared with someone. I think this place is good! There could be better places, but for a place that's in the loop and close by, you can't beat the food and the convenience. I have been here a couple of times and always get level 3 spice, which is like a fun spice level for me (and I love spicy food). This time, I decided to do a 10 because why not? I have to say it wasn't that spicy. The delta in spiciness goes down as the number goes up. Mathematically, if the magnitude of spiciness is Y, the slope goes down as the spice number (X) goes up. We came in during lunch time so we ordered off of their lunch menu. Each entree came with a starter soup or salad & fried spring roll. Been coming to Thai Cottage on and off for years. Recently more off then on due to a move. Found myself in the area and decided to get my regular staple from them- Yellow Curry with Chicken. Typically their curry is on the sweeter side, and the perfect texture, not water thin and not goopy thick. This time, I got more potatoes, carrots and chicken then curry itself. I didn't mind this too much since I hate when places don't give enough potatoes, which I love. I would preferred more curry but I could live with it. Until I had the chicken. It was pink, and rubbery. I noticed every piece of chicken looked off in its coloring, more pink then anything, and figured I'd try just a small tidbit of one piece to see what was going on. It was so rubbery and chewy I spat it out. Was really disappointed that they would serve that to a customer as it didn't feel safe to consume. I ended up ordering the beef Pad Thai. Good amount of noodles and meat ratio. I thought it was good at first, but as I continue eating, it started to get too salty for my taste. It's in the most random alley/street in Bellaire but it has big portions, decent prices, and yummy food. It's clean here and has plenty of space. My family and I got pad Thai, pad see ew, and drunken noodles. I also got a Thai tea (very rich and creamy, on the sweeter side). The pad Thai was perfect, the pad see ew was lacking in noodle (had more toppings than noodle and was a bit burnt), and the drunken noodles had a great kick to them. Delicious as always, this is my first time at their loved location across from HEB. It's much bigger than their old location and I love the light blue and white colors. Service is always on point and the food is always hot and fresh. I orders my normal favorites: Thai Tea, Wings of Paradise (crispy fried chicken wings with garlic in special sauce, garnished with fried sweet basil) and Yellow Curry (Southern Thai style yellow curry paste in coconut milk with choice of meat, firm cube potatoes, carrots and red onions) with Chicken. My friend ordered the Papaya Salad (Som Tum) with shredded green papaya and carrots with dried shrimps, roasted peanuts, tomatoes and garlic in lime dressing. She also ordered the Pad Woon Sen with stir-fried silver noodles with sliced meat, onions, tomatoes, carrots and egg in light brown sauce. Both were great. Picked up my food and didn't notice until i got home that it was burned. The fried rice smells, tastes and obviously looks burned. The cashews are burned as well. I'm super disappointed that they would put this in a to go order when it was clearly burnt. Today i walked by the trash can and thought one of my appliances was burning. I used to frequent Thai Cottage at their original location. But years have gone by and I just hardly think about this restaurant. I needed to get lunch food to go for my Mom & I, before I dropped her off at relatives and I called in a to go order for easy pick up. I recall they get orders out quickly. I emphasized "NO peanuts" as my Mom is highly allergic!!! I even said please let the kitchen person preparing this order know ASAP as a double precaution! When I returned home with the to go orders, I opened up Mom's "Pad Thai" selection and I was shocked - yes there was tons of chopped peanuts! I find the person taking my order, as well as the kitchen person preparing it, both at fault! I quickly called the restaurant and I really made a big deal! I told her how serious this was and I reiterated that she took my order and I said "no peanuts!" She said sorry! I demanded an immediate refund, as I tossed both our to go meals in the trash! I just could not take a chance of cross-contamination! I noticed on-line, that I was only given a refund on my Mom's order. I now have to call and deal with this again. I realize this pandemic has worn out a lot of food establishments and they are short of help, but there is absolutely "NO excuse" not hand walking a called in order with a serious "peanut allergy" properly! Beautiful decor! I came here once when it was where the new H-E-B is located and loved the food. I actually did not realize it had moved just across the street. It's pretty well hidden if you are not driving through that back street. We came in on a Saturday the customer service was great. My mom had the pineapple curry with shrimp and I had the yellow curry with chicken, we ordered the fried egg rolls the veggie ones, everything was delish! We ended our meal with the homemade coconut ice cream and sweet rice we loved it. We will definitely be returning. Ordered take-out from their lunch menu (available even on Saturday). The food tasted amazing - the old neighborhood faithful still impresses! The lunch specials are of course a smaller portion than usual - if you want larger portions you can order from the full size regular menu. We had red and green curries and the sticky rice with mango. The Tom Yum soup that came with the lunch special was delicious (note that it's a soup of the day so the lunch soup may be different on other days). However, fried spring roll that was also part of the lunch special was mostly devoid of filling! Nevertheless - our main entrees were so yummy I shall give the full 5 stars. My family and I have been going to Thai Cottage bellaire for years. It's definitely the best of the Thai Cottage locations. I've tried other locations around Houston and the dishes lack flavor. The staff is delightful, especially Miss Angie. She's so wonderful! She gives the best recommendations and always remembers my orders. I've tried most of the dishes but my favorite ones are the Red Curry Beef, chicken princess Siam, Drunken Noodles, Wings of Paradise, Cashew Beef and shrimp Tom Kha Gai soup. Honestly everything is delicious! Make sure you get everything level 3-4 spicy so you can really enjoy all the flavor. Their Thai tea and sticky rice with mango are also a must. Miss Angie will always let you know if the mango is ripe and in season and if it's not she'll recommend something just as tasty. read more

I think that was why I got a glass of water on the side. The soup had a very strong after-taste and it had so much beef with little liquid. Was I their last customer? It was accompanied with a salad with peanut dressing and a spring roll. The roll was tasty though only lukewarm. The peanut dressing on the salad was good, though it was only squirted on the top of the lettuce, so you are left to toss the salad yourself in the dressing.
