    Baby Shark Platter

Great lunch date! Upon arrival, we were greeted and the staff explained the menu. The restaurant was clean and located in a plaza with plenty of parking. For appetizers, we ordered the new 6pc crab bites. They were flavorful and accompanied with a house made dipping sauce. Our entrees were the Baby Shark platter and fried shrimp and oysters basket. The smoked Gouda grits were delicious but the Mac & cheese missed the marking. The portion sizes were good and the pineapple mimosa was tasty. Great place if you enjoy seafood!

I went to this location based off of a recommendation from a family member. This setting is nice and had plenty of seating inside and outside. There's a sign near the front entrance that lets you know to go place your order in the back. I got the flounder basket (1piece) with 1 side. I got a kid's hamburger with fries and a baby shark (flounder and shrimp) with 1 side. My flounder was ok. I did not like the mac & cheese. It could been one that's prepared for the seafood version so if that's the case I think that should be noted on the menu. I don't feel the taste of our food matched the price. I don't mind paying for good food, but it has to blow me away especially if the portions don't match either. They have a few different types of hushpuppies so I got regular & cinnamon crunch. Overall, I wouldn't plan to go back.

We visited Hushpuppies on Valentine's Day, and it was our first real outing since having our daughter. I was newly postpartum and still adjusting to being out in public--especially with a preemie--so I was definitely on edge. But we decided to adventure out, and I'm glad we gave it a try. The food was fresh and tasty--classic seafood done right. It did feel a little pricey for what you get, but the quality was solid. I ordered a shrimp and grits and everything came out hot and well-seasoned. One thing I really appreciated as a new mom: the high booth walls. It gave us a sense of privacy and protection from the crowd and germs (yes, I was that mom, and I'm not sorry ). The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Just a heads-up--it's not a traditional sit-down restaurant. You order at a window, and someone brings the food out to you. That part threw me off a little, especially for a date night vibe. I'm not sure we'd go back for a full meal, but I'd definitely swing by for a quick bite or takeout. Overall, it was a good experience for what it is--fast casual seafood with a local twist.

Ordered takeout today because I was craving a fried shrimp basket. It was absolutely delicious! Cooked perfectly! My husband got the buffalo shrimp po boy with Mac and cheese and he loved his as well! Food was ready when he got there to pickup so there was no wait time. Service was good and the restaurant appeared clean.

Ordered a to-go Shrimp Po boy and Sweet potato fries because I didn't feel like cooking. The order was ready within 5 minutes. The shrimp were good, and the roll that they were placed on was very soft. The sweet potatoes fries were a thicker cut and I liked them quite a bit. Customer service was not overly friendly, but was certainly efficient. The interior appeared clean.

We stumbled on this place by leaving a desert spot we wanted to try. The service was really nice. The cashier explained everything to us, from the sauces to recommendations. It's a cute and cozy space. Ample seating for big parties. It had a cute spot to sit outside as well. They were out of oysters for the day but other than that, we enjoyed ourselves.

Hot honey shrimp & grits W/ fried flounder hush puppies & a nice cold Corona!!

First time here and they did not disappoint! First the food came out HOT & Fresh!! The fried flounder was my favorite & I am really particular about eating fried food out because I can't digest food fried in "old grease" but this was great! I also tried the hot honey shrimp & grits. It does have a kick to it so be sure to order a nice cold Corona to wash it down . I will definitely be back to try other menu items soon!! They are jammin all the old R&B hits so I literally sang all of the songs while enjoying my lunch! Good times with me myself & I!! NOW OPEN ON MONDAYS!!! You better get you some!!

We tried Hushpuppies by accident because the restaurant next door was closed. But I'm glad we did. We started with the seafood croquettes, fried balls of crab and shrimp with pimento cheese. Then we split their flounder sandwich. I'm glad we tried the croquettes, they were good and unique, but I'd pick another appetizer next time. The flounder sandwich was really good. The fish was deep fried just right, and came with lettuce and purple onion on a soft bun. The service was outstanding. You order at the counter and then return to your table. In a jiffy they bring your food directly to you, and then they checked back to ask if we wanted more drinks. I'll be back.

Being located close to the Atlantic Ocean has its advantages such as local, fresh off the boat, less expensive seafood. Hushpuppies hits on the first too but you are paying for it for sure. Hushpuppies is a stand in line, order at the counter, food brought to the table restaurant. During our experience we started at the door upon arriving standing in line and 40 minutes later made it to the front for ordering. With as few parties as were in front of us and two registers going, this was a long time in my opinion. The seafood wallpaper was a neat touch that i had not seen before that added a fun element to the dining experience. A drink and sauce station is available for self service as well as your utensils and napkins. The food was prepared and arrive about 10 minutes after ordering. I ordered the shrimp and hot honey grits. It was a nice twist of a classic Charleston dish. The shrimp were nice sized, just enough honey to sweeten the dish but not over power and the heat was spot on. We were never checked on after the meal was dropped off until they wanted to turn over the table and move our empty dishes to move in new patrons. Only reason for the rating is for the pricing, its over priced for what you receive, the 40 minutes waiting in line to order and no table service. Just my opinion.

My husband and I came in for dinner and sat at the bar. We started with the cheese fritters & bacon jam. We initially thought the bacon jam was missing, but the fritters were great so we just kept eating them! When we got down to the last one, we both realized the "odd looking fritter" in the bowl that we were both avoiding, was the jam (oops!). It was a similar color and shape to the fritters but we both just laughed about avoiding it. For my entree, I was sold on the "award-winning" shrimp & grits that were featured on the Today show (as per their menu). Surprising that this meal made it that far as it didn't taste like anything special to me. It was not bad but very basic/plain; so basic that it felt like something was missing. It was the same case with my husband's meatloaf. However, I would still recommend checking this place out and deciding for yourself if you like it here ;)

This time we climbed to the second floor to find a table at what I would describe as the most inviting bar in the South due to the eclectic decor and the appearance of the bar itself with dozens of upside down bottles hanging from the ceiling that at first I thought they were there just to decorate the place but nooo! they actually poured the specialty bourbon we ordered which BTW was very good and was only 90 proof which was a very nice match to my Yingling, we spent about two hours there and not because the service was slow but because we were having a good time, at times was a little loud but my out of town friends truly enjoyed the kind of place, they said that next time they come to town they would like to come back to the very same table. The conversation and good times is what kept me from taking a picture of the dishes I ordered the Cajun Pasta, was absolutely delicious and will order again the next time I go back, wife ordered the Pecan pork chops and said it was made with her cravings in mind I won't be waiting for out of towners to come in order to go back, this has become my most trusted and preferred Southern restaurant in Chucktown/Summerville area, no questions and way better than any distant second best that we have been, make it 8 stars! They have a few unique items like their sweet tea which is called swamp water and is infused with lemon, lime and orange. It didnt really seem like it was infused. More like they just poured in various concentrated fruit juices. Too bad our waitress wasn't as informative as the waiter serving the table behind us. She failed to indicate that they have off the menu items, and specials on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. It was kind of hard to choose since I had been eating seafood all week leading up to this visit and also trying to avoid fried foods this year. I ended up choosing the mussels and bowl of gumbo, along with a sweet tea. The tea tasted fairly similar to a lipton sweet tea from the soda fountain and not really something homemade and infused with fresh juices. Mussels - these were really good. Even if half of the mussels fell out into the broth during preparation. Gumbo - this was kind of questionable. My colleague also saw the redish hue of the liquid and said he was glad he didn't order it. It was filled with a lot of seafood, but the liquid was just too creamy. My colleague also commented on the etouffee that was being brought out to other nearby tables and supposedly it looked too dry. I also ordered a to go dessert. The bread pudding. It ended up being pretty decent though.
