I have a hollow feeling inside me, must be from the Hollow Bistro. But it's better than being Kevin Bacon (Hollow Man). I lived right next to this bar and restaurant for several years but did not visit until recently and it's really nice. It does good American fare with a little bit of ethnic and East Asian flavour and its own by the same awesome people from Simon's - the deli-convenience store right across the street. My wife and I joined our family here to celebrate a birthday. Very nice interior, comfortable atmosphere. The service was very good, especially for the size party we had. I got the steak lo mein, which was good, nothing extraordinary, honestly I feel it was a bit overpriced. My wife got the angus burger, ordered it medium rare, but in fact it was raw. All in all the place was okay, not too sure I would return, so many other restaurants in town which are much better and not as overpriced. read more

We had a dinner here during the local restaurant week, didn't expect that much however the experience was quite amazing. This place is fabulous and well decorated, that really impressed us. We were quickly seated and ordered based on the event menu: steak, haddock, and kids get their fries and chicken fingers. Food came quickly, and were delicious, for all of them!! Asian broiled haddock is especially good, very juicy and tender, paired well with the sauce and rice. Overall, We really enjoyed the meal and experience, will return for sure. Came here on New Year's Eve. I will start with that because I know how busy of a holiday it is. The food took over an hour to arrive and because of that, our first round of drinks was on the house. It seemed that the restaurant was not busy enough to account for that kind of a wait but again, it was a major holiday. With that being said, I was very disappointed with the food itself. We were given bread as we wait for our food but it was comical how small it was. With four people at a table, everyone got one small slice of bread and a tiny bit of their cranberry-vanilla (I believe) butter. It was so good but I wish I could have had a little more. It was a tease! I got the beet and black bean burger and was very disappointed. I have been to places with beet burgers that were out of this world but this one was flavorless and fell apart. The side of chips was very bland and way too hard. I would have preferred them thinner with some sort of seasoning. The server was fine but didn't really come to check on us much during the wait so it made the wait feel even longer. It was fine but for the price, I would choose somewhere else next time. read more

Just really disappointed. From the outside, the place is beautiful. When we waited almost 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us at the reception desk, we should have known better. It was a Saturday night...we were patient. Because we didn't have reservations, we sat at the bar. Yes, every seat was occupied. However, it was not overwhelmingly busy. There were two bartenders. The bartender who served us was a HOT MESS. If I heard her say "I've never seen it so busy and I've been here since September" one more time, I was going to say something. We waited almost 10 minutes for drinks. My husband ordered a Long Island iced tea. He waited an additional 10 minutes...you couldn't drink it. She obviously didn't know the drink. We ordered spring rolls...they were okay. I ordered a cauliflower pasta---meh, no seasoning. He ordered steak and Lo menu---over sauced. Food was edible, but we won't return. I will say the second bartender knew customer service and how to work under pressure. read more

We were sorely disappointed with the food here. The black bean burger was charred and looked like a flat charcoal briquette. We sent it back and the server was happy to let us order something else. The cauliflower penne primavera had about 2 bites of vegetables and was way overpriced. The only redeeming aspect of this place is we could take our dogs who sat on the patio with us. The traffic was noisy, the music coming from the outdoor speakers was some type of weird and cheesy lounge music and was too loud. My friend and I came here a little before Halloween after visiting Antique World. We'd never heard of this restaurant, so we didn't know what to expect. We were truly delighted by the food, service, and ambiance. We were greeted by a friendly hostess the moment we walked in. My friend and I rarely go out to lunch together, so we were pretty excited to be seated. We were also quite hungry. We started off by ordering white wine sangrias that were, in a word, perfect! I've never had a better one anywhere else. That alone will have me coming back. They were the perfect balance of sweetness and the depth of flavor was unparalleled. I drank mine a little quicker than I should have, in all honesty. I would've ordered another, but my friend was paying and I didn't want to skyrocket the pricing on her bill. The food was also excellent. I ordered a beet and goat cheese salad with candied pecans and red onions. It came in a giant bowl as a generous portion. Once I tried it, I knew I loved it. The beets were at the bottom too, so I was able to avoid those entirely. I wasn't even expecting the salad to be that good, but it was one of the only gluten free options on the menu. I was so pleasantly surprised that it boosted my mood throughout the entire day (the sangria helped too). I fully recommend The Hollow the next time you make it to Clarence. Lunch here yesterday was absolutely awesome. Such an interesting menu! The place is beautifully decorated, but we opted to sit outside on the patio to take advantage of every last bit of summer sun. Our server Amy was great. Offered to give separate checks - always a plus. During lunch there is a small selection of wines at $5 a glass. Double plus! My only criticism was having to ask the prices for the verbally recited specials. All our food was delicious. My seared salmon BLT wrap (minus the "B"), was mm-mm-good. The salmon was moist, and the sriracha aioli added just the right amount of heat. Companions thoroughly enjoyed their wonton soup, potstickers, sesame chicken and cubano. Potato addict that I am, I usually don't care for housemade potato chips, but these were tasty. Crisp, not oily, just the right amount of salt. Two of our party shared a blueberry cobbler and pronounced it "to die for". My Spanish coffee hit the spot. Lots of other menu options that I look forward to trying. Enjoyed dinner here before a Clarence High School play. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was fantastic; very friendly waitress. The menu is diverse and unique. I wanted to try a lot of different things and it was hard to make a decision. I landed on a cup of french onion soup and the portobello salad. The French onion soup was nice because it was a cup size and there was cheese streaming over the whole thing, check out my photo. The soup itself was tasty, yet not quite as dark a broth as I prefer. The salad was good and included quite a bit of cheese. We each ordered a cocktail and they were both nice, but not quite as unique tasting as I'd hoped. The food was good, but not quite as good as I had hoped with regards to the uniqueness of the menu. Would give it another shot. Definitely thought the service was fantastic. read more

Stopped in for a random date night and I couldn't believe how great our experience was. Monday is also BYOB (wine) with no corking fee. Our waitress was honestly the best. She was super helpful, bubbly, and attentive. We started of with a cup of French onion soup was which good not the best I have ever had but it was good. Our meals both came with a salad and the salads were huge!!! I didn't even eat mine because I wanted to enjoy my meal and the waitress wrapped it to go. I got the chicken French which was very good it came with spinach and mashed potatoes, delicious! My husband got the Cajun salmon which was on special. The piece of salmon was huge!!! It came with risotto and mango salsa. Both meals came with crisped carrots and the display was amazing. Stopped in on our way home for a nightcap. We had been here for dinner almost 5 years ago and haven't been back because we were not impressed with the food or menu. So we figured just stop in for a drink before heading home and see how it looks after the big remodel. They have a very small drink menu but I did find a drink that sounded good so I ordered it. When the bartender gave it to me, I took a sip. Right away my taste buds were not happy. I asked the bartender what kind of vodka she used and she tells me it was Burnett's! Are you kidding me...bottom shelf liquor for a $11 drink?? We also decided to order a dessert to share. None of them sounded that great but we went with the apple crisp. It was terrible. They use canned apples. We each took a bite and left it there. I will say the bartender was very nice and friendly but we will never go back. read more

This is a classy neighborhood spot with a good beer list and pretty good food. I came here with four people and we sat at the bar. I ordered two local IPAs and both were delicious. The drink menu has a nice martini list. They even have a list of nonalcoholic "mocktails," which I've never seen before. The food menu was mainly American, with some Asian options. For an appetizer, we ordered the potstickers. They came with an Asian cabbage-based slaw. The pot stickers were just ok but the the slaw was actually really tasty. The portion was decent. My sister ordered the French onion soup. I had a few spoons and it was delicious. It had a cheesy topping and a tasty piece of french bread that soaked up the broth. The broth was really tasty and not too salty. My cousin got a burger with a fried egg. I tasted that as well and it was really good. The burger was well-seasoned. The burger was served with toasted pretzel bun. The egg was yolky, the way it should be. It was a delicious burger. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails. I highly recommend this place. There is a nice dining area, and a bar with over 15 seats. The servers are really nice too. I would recommend this spot for dates and large groups. It will not disappoint. read more

Cute place in the Hollow of Clarence. I was here years ago for restaurant week and it was okay. It was also tight quarters and stuffy back then. Not anymore! The remodel is lovely, the new dining room is quaint and the bar is roomy! They have a lovely set up for summertime and I am looking forward to going back just for the patio and outdoor fireplace! Tonight's meal was good, nothing special (a little on the cool side for a steak) and it took well over an hour to be served. We dined with friends so the delay was tolerable since we had a lot of catching up to do. I don't know why it took so long for food prep as no one really ordered anything that would take extra time to prepare. The waitress was very sweet and told us a few times the meals would be right out... not so. Anyway, I plan to stop in again for the patio once warmer weather arrives (will it??!!?). Give it a try, everybody has an off day, but do it when you have no deadlines ... just in case the kitchen is delayed again. read more

Went to dinner with my husband and a friend. We planned to go to listen to a band in the neighborhood but wanted dinner beforehand. My husband and I shared the linguine jambalaya and the wild mushroom ravioli. Our friend had the almond encrusted salmon. I like the ravioli but the sauce was very rich so I was glad I was sharing the dish. The linguine jambalaya was spicy and full of shrimp, chicken and andouille. I had the goat cheese and cranberry turkey burger with homemade potato chips. It was good, but probably would ask for no mustard next time. My husband has an ahi tuna burger. What a great place to go for Dinner. Me and my grandma discovered this place while we were on our way to Akron Falls Park for a walk through. After our walk we got over there (even thought we waited 40 Minutes for my Uncle to show up, cuz he just got out of Work) but we were sat down in the back, a nice small Place though (15 tables, I believe). We then ordered, for my Appetizer I got the Pork Potstickers (even though they looked like Dumplings) with Asian Red Cabbage Slaw and 2 Dipping Sauces: a Soy Scallion and Spicy Sriracha (Nice Contrast of Salty and Spicy). My Uncles Appetizer he got their Homemade Tomato and Mozzarella Soup (Rich and Creamy). Me and my uncle ordered a 2nd Appetizer: the Asian Green Field Salad consisting of Cucumber Noodles, Alfalfa Sprouts, Water Chestnuts, Mandarin Oranges, Fried Wontons and a Malted Soy Vinaigrette (Really Good Salad). For our Entrees: My Uncle ordered the Chargrilled Salmon in a Lemon Beurre Blanc Sauce with Sautéed Green Beans and a Bacon-Mushroom Risotto. My Grandma got the Pork Porterhouse Chop glazed with Mustard and New York Maple Syrup and Whipped Sweet Potatoes on the Side and for Me I got the Hong Kong Seafood Stew (Lot of Seafood like a Cioppino) Salmon, Calamari, Mussels, Shrimp with Asian Vegetables, Crispy Wontons, Rice in a Lemongrass-Seafood Broth. To finish off the Meal we decided to get some dessert so we Split a Homemade slice of Rum Raisin Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream. Kids had enough of the sitting around so we ordered two apple crisps with ice cream to go. Waitstaff comes with the dessert and the check. Drops both off walks away. Time stamp on the check 6:33pm. Had to flag the host down to get them to swipe my card. Didn't sign and walk out until 6:49pm. Literally 16 minutes for them to check out... if you have young kids waiting, you know how long that is.
