My family and I have been devotees for years, but something happened after the owner replaced Tempo with Angeline; he trusted his fate and reputation with people not as invested or committed to excellence as he was. We ordered several small dishes, bottled water, and drinks, but we were unhappy with the food. The kale salad was overdressed and super tart. The ribs were unpleasant. The Jambalaya pasta was over-reduced, and super salty, and the escargot was pure butter, not worth re-ordering. I remember the food being excellent, although the short ribs were underwhelming. If the owner is going to devote time to a new project, he must ensure he has people inserted in the Hutch's kitchen to execute his vision. read more

Took my girlfriend out for her birthday. She picked Hutch's as her meal. Hello wallet. We made reservations and were seated right away. Our waiter came over, started conversation, took our drinks and apps. The night from here was up and down. We get our first app and drinks we ordered, steak tartare. Delicious, the nibbles on the sides brought out that rich flavor. Delicious. We also ordered the plate of bacon. It never came. A person came over to change our silverware, we said we have another app coming thinking it was separate. Finally we call over the waiter and someone messed up. We get the bacon, amazing. Maybe top bite of 2023. Get it. They bring our mains out then before we're done with the bacon. Whatever. Change everything get it over with. Steak Frites, delicious. Short Rib, delicious. Great food. Waiter comes back, we order round 2 of drinks. Tables get seated around us. They get all their drinks, we wait 30 minutes. Not cool. Finally our waiter comes back, and gets our dessert. Grand Mariner Cheesecake, amazing. Our food, so good, old school steakhouse delicious. The service, sub par. Our waiter had like 8 tables, and was struggling with an on call bus boy. Average service at best sadly sucks when I get a +200+ bill. I've tipped 25-30% at places like this when it matters. I struggled giving ours 18%. I recently had a great dining experience at Hutch's. I made a reservation for my fiancé's birthday this past week and I'm glad I did because it was relatively busy for a Thursday night. There is parking lot but the two entrances off Delaware are a little tight. I wish I checked this page prior to going because that would've been helpful! We ordered the Thai calamari to start and it was pretty good! The calamari was crispy but the portion wasn't that big. There was a lot of fluff in it like black beans, corn, and slaw. I ordered the jambalaya pasta and he ordered the NY steak. My pasta was absolutely delicious. The waiter said it was spicy but I didn't think it was spicy at all. The portion was decent and there was a good amount of chicken, shrimp, and chorizo. My fiancé ordered his steak medium and he said it came out great. I don't care for red meat so I didn't try it. Our waiter was attentive and came by multiple times to make sure we were doing okay. We also got our waters refilled frequently. I deducted one star because the food took relatively long - 45 minutes. read more

Last night was only my second time at Hutch's but my partner is a long time fan (of everything but their leopard print carpet ‍). Anthony was our waiter and we loved him but shout out to all the support staff - the hostess who indulged our seating preference (we were given a lovely private table but wanted to be where the action was), the "water girl" who complimented my dress and made me feel like a million bucks and the attentive staff who made sure to hit us up with all the rosemary faccacia we could handle - they have other bread but you don't want it, you want as rosemary focaccia as you can get. It was our anniversary and how auspicious, it was Anthony and his wife's 15 wedding anniversary as well. She was celebrating at the bar with a couple celebrating a birthday - clearly Hutch's is for celebrations. We ordered the lobster and shrimp bisque, the escargot and the tuna tartare - the stand out for sure was the tuna. Cassava chips, jalapeno and other garnishes went spectacularly with a generous tower of tuna. He got the prime rib with truffle butter and some truly spectacular fries - I only like fancy fries to be honest. I had a "small plate" of the eggplant Napoleon and thank God I didn't get an entree - that was huge. We finished it off with cheesecake and the almond lace tart and they were both spectacular. In celebration of our 4th anniversary both had candles - my partner was praised for not blowing his out ("everybody does!" Says Anthony. Haven't been there since before the pandemic and the remodel. I've been going there for over 30 years. It fell far below expectations and memories past. Took my son for his birthday. Had calamari appetizer that I've had dozens of times and it wasn't like I remembered, with the corn salsa on top. And the bottom of each piece of calamari was actually cold. Ordered the barbecue spare rib appetizer. The sauce was slapped on the end. The ribs were not fresh at all. It was warm. I ordered. I believe the black grouper in a Malaysian curry with scallops. My fish was completely raw. I couldn't even cut it with a fork or a knife. Server was phenomenal. She took it right away. The maître'd came over, apologized and asked what we could do to make it better, and they made me another one which was very good. My son had steak frites. It was OK but not worth $72 or whatever I paid. I would expect a cut of meat in a restaurant to be at least an inch and a half thick, to retain some flavor. Ordered desserts because it was his birthday. I had a sorbet which was fine. My son had a Chocolate something which he thought was good. They took $10 off each dessert to make up for the bad appetizers and raw entrée. I'm heartbroken because I used to love this place. We were there on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. I want to go back to see if that was an aberration. But I may never go back. It's changed so much and for the prices they charge every dish should be perfect. They had four hosts. Somebody should look at each plate before it leaves the kitchen because three out of four dishes should not have been put on the table. It was a $250 bill with one beer. Delightful meal. I was a guest at Hutch's this week. It's really hard to do business when eating, but Hutch's talented waitstaff were so aware of their diners, we had a great dinner and a great conversation. I had the salmon and it was perfect. I really cannot use another word. I honestly ate it all first because it was so elite. The side dishes were also great but the salmon was the star of the show. I know nothing of Buffalo's food scene but clearly there is one. I'll be back soon and I will NOT miss an opportunity it's to dine at Hutch's again. Copying this from my google review: Girlfriend made a reservation for me here for my birthday. We got a notification our phones to remind us of the reservation 30 minutes before the time, we arrived 10 minutes early, and was told by the hostess that she forgot she had another (us) reservation, and gave our table away to someone who showed up early. We were told we will be seated in 20 minutes if we want a table, then asked if we wanted to sit near the bar. We answered her yes, but her eyes went right back to her screen. This was our first experience here, and the bar was nowhere in sight. So we stood at the entrance awkwardly for a minute or two before we asked her if she could direct us to the bar, which was in another room. Bar area was crowded, with no seating available. So we stood next to it between the restrooms, and waitress station. Almost 30 minutes later we were seated in the same room directly in front of the bar. Food, and drinks were brought out in a timely manner, but nothing really wowed us other than the crème brulee. Steak was cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor compared to other restaurants at this price point. Our server was very nice, and attentive. We didn't feel rushed at all. Really wanted to like this place, but overall experience was mediocre especially for the price point. Will not be back. read more

My first time dining at Hutch's was a 10/10 experience. I started with a half a dozen oysters and shrimp bisque which both were amazing. The oysters tasted very fresh and the bisque was a creamy delight with chunks of shrimp and lobster in it. I also had their homemade bread which there were three types and the balsamic olive oil dip which was a great treat. My main course was the bone-in Tenderloin, recommended by my server Mike. Mike's advice was spot on and it was so delicious! I ended the night with a peach upside down cake and that was delicious! My mom has the best taste in restaurants to celebrate her birthday at! I had never been here before and was curious based on all the rave reviews. I will say they are definitely well-deserved! Our server was very attentive and everyone who helped us was really great. Definitely top-notch there! We didn't start with any appetizers but the bread service was great. There were three different types and the ones I tried were great. My brother and mom each got a salad which they both loved. I opted for the yellow fin tuna special for my dinner, totally out of left field for me. I am so happy I chose it! The tuna was so tender and dipped in the soy sauce, it was so flavorful. It came with sides of roasted potatoes and green beans and they were both great too. I stole a bite of my boyfriend's dinner (Cajun pasta) and my dad's dessert (the almond lace cookie cup) and both of those were fantastic too. If you're looking for an upscale restaurant with fabulous service and a consistently delicious menu, I'd say go to Hutch's! read more

My first time won't be my last time! Had a wonderful meal at Hutch's. I looked at the menu prior to our reservation, but still went in undecided. I got the stuffed poblano appetizer off of a recommendation from a coworker. It had a lot going on, but the ingredients all paired well. I did end up peeling off a lot of the breading because I thought it tasted floury. My boyfriend had the bacon on a plate. The bourbon sugar glaze was amazing. Wish I could have gotten more than one bite from him! We both ordered steaks for our entrees. I had the tenderloin and bf had the prime strip. Both cuts of meat were fabulous and cooked to perfection. The brandy cream sauce over my steak was out of this world. Standard mash came with my steak and we both liked those more than the red smashed that came with the strip. We didn't have room for dessert, but after hearing what was available, we took a piece of the malted milk ball cheesecake to go. It was a glorious round serving of cheesecake covered in a cookie crust with pieces of malted milk balls topping it. They even packed a small chocolate sauce in a to go cup! Do yourself a favor and order this dessert next time you visit Hutch's. You won't be disappointed! read more

What an excellent meal. We sat way in the back room, which was perfect. Very romantic. Cool that they bring a huge basket of breads for you to choose from. I had the focaccia bread with bits of sundried tomato, basil and onion. But for the soup, I had the lobster/ shrimp bisque. So smooth, so creamy like velvet sliding down my throat. I asked for a gallon to go. For my main, I chose the 18oz bone-in tenderloin. Spot on! Perfectly cooked. I didn't care when i picked up the bone to get every piece of succulent beef of of that. It was THAT good. Finished off with an apple craisin crisp with a scoop of cinnamon gelato and a cup of coffee. Thank you Shannon and the Hutch's crew for the excellent meal. We recently had dinner at Hutch's. We were extremely pleased with everything! We grabbed a drink at the bar in the back, which has great ambiance! The bartender was excellent! When our table was ready were escorted to our table! It was in the back which was perfect as it was nice and quiet! Our waitress was excellent. She stopped over but we were ready to order yet. She was attentive but not pushy! We started with shishito peppers and a half dozen oysters! Both were excellent ! I ordered the Berkshire pork chop with mashed potato, green beans and a delicious gravy!! MMMM Good! Cooked perfectly medium! My wife had the Salmon special and she loved it!! So disappointed. I grew up in Buffalo and have loved Hutches for 30 years. I have lived away in NYC for a long time, but recently took my nieces and nephews there (all in their late 20s). They've been wanting to go, but now it's too expensive for them, so I was excited to take them! we spent more than $700 on dinner--and it was an awful customer experience. I was so surprised. one of our steaks came out the wrong temperature (server confirmed it was very overcooked); replacement came but was wrong steak. so by the time we got the right steak, we were all basically finished with dinner. the food was great, and the restaurant vibe is nice. but the flow of our dinner was completely ruined--AND our server, while professional, clearly did not care at all; too much time passed until anyone came over and apologized... our server kept saying "we took the steak off your bill" --but to me, that's a given? why are you taking credit for that--you kind of ruined what was a big night out for us (we don't have this kind of money to spend on dinner). our wine person/somm , Chris, and busboy (Wolf!) were awesome. very nice. but the server and I guess the manager? (he came by for 2 mins but really did nothing and was clearly in a rush to other more important tables--he made us feel like a nuisance.) we went out of our way to be polite and so appreciative. as a woman who's grown up in Buffalo, I felt slighted and disrespected. if this were a table of 4 old white men with grey hair, they would have been falling all over themselves to make it up to us. these are first world problems so we all felt bad complaining...but c'mon! we all made the best of it and had a nice time and tipped 20% (which really bothered me) despite the awful customer service. but I'll never go back--and never recommend this place to anyone I work with. do not go here--there are so many other great places in Buffalo. I hate to give this review, but I felt really bad about the night after spending all that money. read more
