Bambada - Big Box Signature Steamed Seafood Pot

My family enjoys coming here for Bambada's shareable plates, about once a year…read more BIG fan of the clam bibimbap; if I'm visiting, there will always be an order of it for the table. Bossam is served with a fun variety of sides like tofu, pickles, and radish. The deep fried oysters + pancake options (seafood and potato both) have not let us down, though the pancakes are a little small for the price imo. Have only had their signature seafood pot once; it was fresh though not memorable enough to be something we gravitate towards.

Solid seafood place near Coquitlam Centre…read more Parking is available in the lot in front of the building. The place looks nice and modern. Comfortable cushy chairs, and wooden trim. Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

We had a reservation but it still took about 10 minutes to be seated. We had a nice seat by the water in the main dining area. It was loud but still a nice ambiance all around. We both started with soup, me the lobster bisque and him the seafood chowder. Both were delish. Side bonus was that I really loved the shape of their soup bowls! They were very ergonomic and just the perfect shape for eating soup and then angling the bowl so you could enjoy the last bits. Only disappointment was that we weren't offered any bread until our soups were almost done. The bread was crusty and served piping hot with whipped butter. Next up was the sake glazed salmon for me. It was part of the three course menu for $55. The salmon was cooked to absolute perfection and served with grilled veg and wild rice which was slightly dry but otherwise good. He got the halibut fish and chips which were also devine. Perfectly cooked and battered fish with beautifully seasoned fries that are reminiscent of their pan fried potatoes served at breakfast. The coleslaw has some kick with horseradish but overall a really great meal. Lastly, my meal came with crème brûlée for dessert and it was the perfect mix of creamy with a crunchy top. A nice finish to the meal. The service overall was okay, our server was super kind, friendly and chatty, but her timing could have been better - like brining us bread with our soup. But it was pretty busy in the restaurant, and we've absolutely had worse service. Will definitely return to this location.

I gave this place several chances as the location is nice and the view is lovely. Unfortunately,…read morewhoever they've got in the kitchen simply cannot cook food. One time, I ordered the halibut. It was overcooked to the point where it had the texture of plastic. Tough, chewy, not a whisper of seasoning. Another time, I had the salmon (which is mighty pricey, I might add). The salmon wasn't fresh. The mash it came with was, again, completely unseasoned. Not even salt? Come on. What capped it though was a Caesar salad my partner ordered that came absolutely drenched in salad dressing. You couldn't even taste anything else. Just salty, cheesy, soggy stuff. The prices they charge for this are downright criminal. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Edit: Parent company, Landry's, appears to be US-based (Texas). Anyone who is choosing to #BuyCanadian needs to be aware.

A little bit on the saltier side. Definitely a solid dish. Phoenix claws - the naming says it's their house special sauce which tasted different than normal spicy black bean sauce. Was not a fan. We were first customers to enter, and be greeted, but joined by others before seated, and by a good many more, soon after - the restaurant was more than half full in a very short time. We chose a table by the long window - all window seatings were 4-seat tables, so perfect for us. The larger, mostly round tables, were located throughout the central area of the restaurant. Table service was friendly, quick, and very efficient. We had a dim sum menu at our table, and an additional lunch menu was brought with tea service once we were seated. Our food order was taken as soon as we indicated a desire to order. Food arrived from kitchen to table rather quickly, and the dishes nicely sequenced. Presentations looked good, and definitely tickled our senses. Preparations were all nice and hot (yeah .. the way they should be!), and provided some very interesting and distinctive flavours and tastes. Dishes ordered as shown in the photos. Overall dining experience -- quality service, with good food preparations -- a much-enjoyed dining experience.
