My only suggestion is to add a bit more to the portions. Only reason I did not give five stars is the service was quite lacking & they really were not that busy.

Nice ambience with the white tablecloth in the building looks very nice. Now for the food: I'm afraid it fell short all around. We split the meal and the roasted lamb shank unfortunately was not hot, only warm. The bowl that it was presented in was extremely hot and Kelly warned us. I needed to send that shank back to be warmed up, which she pleasantly accommodating my request and apologized. When it came out, it still was not very hot, but she tried. Our roasted beef salad was average, the vinaigrette was tangy, but not overpowering, the cheese may have been fresco or cotijo. The pine nuts could've been roasted, just a few seconds longer for flavor. Big disappointment was the French onion soup. Only because I've had French onion soup in Paris, where it was amazing. The soup was also not hot! French onion soup needs to be hot... The cheese was not melted or toasted. The croutons were below average the caramelization of the onions was good, but the broth was again only warm. If you've ever had French onion soup, you puncture the cheesy sometimes bubbling top and it is like a volcano. Not here. There you have it.

Best chicken I've ever had! We visited twice during our last trip to Taos, and I couldn't pass this up both times.

My wife bought me a silver shaving bowl for our anniversary at the Tabasco shop. They sell Pepsi products. The difference between the large vs medium margarita wasn't that much of a value. Erika B was a very nice server. She had a nice smile. Portions on people plates seemed very adequate and looked yummy.

For convenience sake, we decided to go despite some of the negative comments. I'm glad we did. The young man who seated us was also our server. He was extremely polite and welcoming. He gave us excellent and attentive service. The food was very good. I had the chile rellano. My wife had green chile chicken and enjoyed it. We asked for green sauce on the side and it was also very good. Sides were very good...pinto beans, rice, posole. Each meal comes with a giant sopapilla and honey. It was excellent. Came out hot and fresh...and huge. Not sure why the negative comments, but everything is subjective I suppose. Again, I'm glad we went and highly recommend. Finally, it was obvious that most of the diners were locals which is a good sign.

Don't get me wrong, we love Mexican food, but nothing can beat our TexMex! Beware they are open 7 days a week for the holidays until 5 Jan. They open at 4:30. When you come in, it's beautifully decorated for Christmas! They have a fire burning where you can wait and not definitely had a rustic feel to it! They sat us next to the fire which was really nice for it being cold outside. Our server was very attentive, nice and knowledgeable. The menus were pretty spiffy too as it looked like an old newspaper clipping! They had a variety of steak and also had different animal options like elk & bison. The prices were a bit steep but given the quality and how well they executed the meal, I would say it was well worth it! You are offered a pretzel like bread with butter while ordering. Our waiter was on it and he continued to fill our drinks before we could even ask for more! What we ordered: - Bison ribeye (medium+): this was a gem! If you've never had bison before, don't get scared! It tastes just like cow only it's better for you! The cook was perfection and the seasoning on point! My 13 year old ordered it and devoured it! He had initially asked for A1 sauce but because it was flavored so well, opted not to use it. He said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had! - Ground Elks (medium) w/ chile and grilled onions: it comes dry but our waiter suggested adding green chile and onions to it (beware that's an $11 up charge). It was flavored well, cooked well and tasted amazing. My husband never had elk and said it was really good. Tasted just like ground beef with just a hint of something different. - 12 oz New York sirloin (medium): cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly and topped it with a garlic/butter compound. My daughter, who rarely eats anything more than a 3oz, ate more than half because she liked it that much. - 10oz ribeye (medium): cooked and flavored to perfection again!! On top of that, it was so tender and melted like butter in my mouth! It was so smooth, and just an amazing quality I hadn't had in such a long time. While ribeye comes fatty, this was utter perfection! I typically only eat about 4-5 oz, but ate the entire thing! If we decide to come back to this area, we will definitely stop here! If you want a good steak, go here!!!
