Third time! The Beacon Hat Trick!…read moreOur 2nd but old water heater started spraying - leaking profusely and were pleased to hear that the Beacon team was avail. They dispatched Giovanni and team. I was thoroughly impressed by the responsiveness and then when showing up the professional workmanship carefully planning to getting the water heater replaced and making sure there was appropriate quality testing. From Dispatch to Giovanni and his partner / Thank You Team Beacon!

I was definitely freaking, and I did call Beacon (after another "24 hour emergency plumber" told me…read morethe soonest they could get to me was tomorrow. Yeah right, I'm literally sitting in my bathroom emptying buckets of water every three minutes!!). I was concerned about how much Beacon would cost, since they have money to pay NFL stars to advertise for them, but I was desperate to be free of the bailing, so I called. The operator was a little cold, but in about half an hour (or 12 buckets of water dumped) Gio and Josh arrived, and they were so kind and warm. You could tell they actually cared about their job, and helping people out. They had everything fixed so quickly, were funny and personable (ask Gio to see a picture of his cute dog!) and brought and put on the protective shoe covers, which was unnecessary but very professional. The fix came in under what I had mentally already spent, so I'm thrilled. They should take more of that Seahawks money and give it to these guys... but I guess the advertising worked, because they were the first thing to pop in my head when the water started pouring. Thank you for saving my night!

Their staff (phone staff and on-site plumbers) are professional, communicate well and get the job done. I should call out though that you might be able to save a few $ if you went with an independent but that's kind of the case for most home repair/servicing companies. I've never used them for Electric and/or HVAC so I can't speak to that.

This company has changed. And not for the better…read more A week ago I called to schedule an appointment for a leaky faucet in my house. An AI voice answered the phone, asked me why I was calling, told me it was going to look up my account details, said it had a problem and that someone would contact me to follow up, and then hung up on me. A few hours later I got a text from "Cameron". I complained to "Cameron" about the experience I had from the AI phone answerer. "Cameron" apologize and told me that such an experience would frustrate him too...then "Cameron" decided to be transparent with me and tell me that he was in fact AI as well and "his" real name was "Carson". We went back and forth about 6 times to explain the problem I was having and to set up an appointment. Then "Cameron" told me that the time we worked out wasn't confirmed yet and that someone would be calling me to confirm the time. Thanks, "Cameron". This was Friday around 4:00PM. THE NEXT MORNING, a human being (I think) texted me from the same number to confirm the appointment. After I let them know how unhappy I was with the AI scheduling service, a human (I think) did call me and apologized for it. Then, on the day of the appointment, the technician arrived an hour and a half after the 12:00-16:00 window we had set up. I had to call them at 16:30 to ask if the technician was coming and they told me he would be there soon. When he did arrive, in the middle of me making dinner for my family, he told me that the faucet would need to be replaced and that it would be $750 (!!) in labor to fix it. Then I was charged $83 for his time (which I guess would be rolled into the service). So, in the end I still had a leaky faucet and I was out $83 with the option to pay $670 to replace a faucet (plus the cost of the faucet itself). For that price, I'm just going to do it myself. Then the spam texts started coming from "Cameron" asking about the estimate. I got one every day until I told it to stop texting me. This company used to be great but I'm going to be looking around the next time I need a plumber. Please ditch this stupid AI system. Please don't charge your customers if you're extremely late for your own four hour window - especially if the diagnosis takes five minutes and is "I can't fix it - replace the faucet".

I had them come out to inspect and "tune" the system when I moved in, but any mention of the noise was just met with condescension and redirection (they were more interested in selling recurring services). Shortly thereafter, I had a different company install an air conditioner and after they rebuilt the air handler there is barely any noise when it runs. Fast forward many years, BelRed just installed the pictured heat pump next door and it sounds like a dump-truck idling right against our bedroom wall. I looked up the manufacturer and evidently there are lots of people that complain about how noisy these heat pumps are. I have 3 recently installed heat pumps, 4 if you count the refrigerator, and none of them make anywhere near as much noise as this thing does, and evidently after many years of complaints the company actually INCREASED the published decibel rating from 60dB to 70dB so they could keep saying, "That's normal." So the end result is that BelRed is selling and installing a system that by definition violates the city noise ordinance of 60dB -- how wonderful for me. On the installation side, I would caution anyone getting a heat pump installed to be very particular with how the contractors setup the handling of the condensate (water). Heat pumps make a lot of water, so there should be well designed way to deal with all that water that will work effectively in both the summer and the winter. So definitely ask questions about how the system is going to drain when temperatures are below freezing. From the picture (taken from my yard), you can see that instead of using a drain line, this unit was just put in the middle of a drain pan with a length of PVC pipe across the walkway. Aside from the obvious trip hazard, since drain pan pipe fittings are on the side (above the bottom of the pan), there will ALWAYS be water in this pan, and since it is out in the open, it will always have leaves, debris, mold, bacteria, and mosquitoes growing in it. So my recommendation is to look for alternatives instead of using BelRed.
