This is a wonderful lovely nail salon on Main Street. They are very friendly and took me as a walk in this morning. It was very busy but they graciously welcomed me. I picked out a color and had a comfortable chair. Nancy was incredibly gentle and did an amazing job on my feet. This was long overdue but she was very careful. This was a relaxing and wonderfully pain free experience. Highly recommend and definitely ask for Nancy. She is wonderful!! I especially love that they focus on the client and otherwise let everyone completely relax. There isn't a lot of chatter or jarring surprises. Just a very clean and gentle experiment. The last place I would be looking for a Top Tier Nail Salon, having grown up in East Bay and mainly going to other Nail Salons in South Bay, but I'm fortunate to frequent this one in Downtown Los Altos. I love that Downtown Los Altos is so relaxing, a great place for a walk around window shopping, some coffee or errands. Downtown has this gem of a nail salon, maybe just missing a Day Spa with a Sauna or a Dessert Shop like Europe and they may be set. Anyways, my previous nail salon next to my Home changed ownership, sadly and service went down. Also I noticed the acrylic material would not last at my old Nail Salon more than two weeks but NOT the case here at Hygia, their acrylic lasts forever to me and I'm known to do heavy work and house work with my hands. Also the color that goes on top of the acrylic, usually that chips off too at other places and so far I'm still good. Jenn was my last Nail Tech but all of them are so nice and comforting, as well as talented. Sometimes there's no consistency in end product but here the experience has been great. I really love this Nail Spa. The place is spotless and they always do an perfect job on their pedicures. Everyone who works here smiles and seems glad to see you come in the door. They always offer hot tea or water and a bit of a treat if you are in the mood Each foot basin is used with a disposable liner which makes me feel confident that I am not going to pick up some sort of foot fungus. Lots of top of the line less toxic nail colors such as OPI to choose from All their tools are sanitized. They also offer ear piercing in case you need a place. I found myself in Los Altos about 1 1/2 hrs u til my hair appointment. I went in and they assured me i had time for a mani and pedi. I loved that my nails were soaking as my pedicure was started. I had two ladies working on me to ensure I would make my appointment. Time was ticking and another lady started working on me as well! To achieve these looks, it requires extra time and filing- which most salons don't and won't want to do. Nadya is not only talented, she's very kind and friendly. Each time we go there is a long wait. This time we had an appointment but they asked us to wait 10 minutes because some some else was 10 min late. I asked them if it would really only be 10 min (because they looked like they had about 6 people not even started and only 4 people working) and was assured it would be 10 minutes. 25 minutes later we are still waiting. People who had an appointment 15 min after my daughter were seated at the last manicure table so I had no idea when they intended to start her's. After about 15 minutes of waiting they started working on all the people who looked like they had nit been started when we arrived. Which means we would have to wait maybe 45 minutes to even get started. I just can't spend 45 minutes waiting in a nail salon. read more

Everyone here loves these ladies and I can see why! They're so friendly, professional, and they genuinely care about their customers. I walked in with a problem and they addressed it quickly and compassionately. They didn't charge me for glueing a broken gel nail back even though I didn't get my manicure there in the first place. Hygia is my "go to" spot for pedicures. Everyone who works at the salon is really friendly, the place is always clean, and I get great service. My favorite part of the deluxe pedicure is the leg massage; a great way to pamper myself. Getting a pedicure on a regular basis has really helped the calluses on my feet, especially the hot wax treatment that helps moisturize my feet. I would give a shout out to my favorite technician, but then I probably would have a hard time getting an appointment with her. (I reality, ALL of the technicians at Hygia are great!) For a nail salon located in downtown Los Altos, I expected a TOP NOTCH experience. But unfortunately I got the exact opposite. 1. They overbooked their appointments so we had to wait for our service even though we had an appointment for 3 princess manicures and 2 regular manicures. 2. Only one of our girls received a princess manicure, and the other 2 girls received only color, and they tried to charge us for a full princess manicure price. 3. I was badly cut on my left middle finger. The manicurist then put a solution on the cut which stung extremely bad. She then had the nerve to tell me I had too much skin and I should put oil on my nail bed to minimize the skin growth. REALLY?! 4. My nail color changed color under the heat lamp and they tried to say it was the color of the lights, when in fact the top coat was burnt from the heat and change my white nail polish to a toasted marshmallow color. The manager told me to come back tomorrow because they were too busy to fix it now! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I WILL NOT GO BACK!!!!!!! read more

I went there a lot of times, because I believe I received the best nail service (pedicures) until the last time that I needed to get it done right before my Maui trip. First, I selected (by mistake) the color that turned out to be completely different on the actual nails. Since I explained it is a wrong color and should be changed to another one, the process was not stopped and eventually the color was just painted over, creating a beautiful, but a different shade. That's not why I am writing this review. My skin was cut by accident under the nail (picture attached) and I was in pain for the entire session. I came home with a red, swollen toe and immediately made a doctor appointment to make sure it is not infected before my flight to Maui. I understand it is a one time off, but my friend told me that the same way she had to rush off to the ER on Maui, because her nail was infected and eventually cut off. This is not what I expected and I am not sure if I would ever come back. I paid $75 + 20% in full for this experience. I am honestly disappointed. When you go in for a mani/pedi and request a 30 min massage please treat it as if your client is expecting a relaxing experience. By no means is it relaxing when your feet are pulled in one direction and your arms are being stretched to opposite sides for filing, soaking and the gel curing light every 2 mins. When someone wants a massage- take off your GLOVES. There is nothing relaxing about latex gloves and oil. When your client asks for a 30 min massage please use some effort and not just rub one spot over and over. Nothing special about their services and was basic and rushed. Anyways- I cut it short and couldn't wait to leave. Very disappointed as this was my first time trying this place. Ugh! read more
