We arrived for the appointment and was greeted warmly, like you were visiting family! I was also able to have a very nice conversation with Dr. Ismail. He was very personable and I enjoyed chatting with him very much! I would highly recommend this dental office to anyone that wants to have a great experience at the dentist! What I can say about Mark is that he knows how much many of us fear their profession, and he is the kindest, most thoughtul, patient and thorough dentist taking his time to keep you relaxed and fearless. When the work was done (fillings, crowns, spacer, etc) there was almost no soreness and nothing that interfered with basic foods over a short period of time. This dentist is absolutely wonderful. There's a doorman at the entrance and you also get a feeling of safety going there and one is not too far from Main State Street for shopping or easy access across the street to the Michigan bus to go to Watertower area etc.

Dentists are a difficult professional to recommend to others, since the work they do is quite intimate. I think this affects our personal choice of dentist, more so than other medical professionals except maybe ob/gyn doctors. The staff at Northwest Dental has remained largely the same since we first started coming here. Our hygienist Linda is almost like an old friend. She seems to remember every little detail of our lives, our kids, even our infamous "the cat's on fire" incident. (PM me for that story). Same goes with Dr. Pappa. When I first came to see him, he did a very thorough dental exam, probably more detailed than any other dentist I saw before. He reported on the sad condition of my gums and their "pockets." After a rather tough scraping under the gum line procedure, he got me on the road to better dental health. His people did a good job explaining to me the right way to floss on a set of fake teeth, which was something I've never actually had demonstrated at a dental office either. I've been coming back with "gold star" clean teeth since, except for maybe a few fillings over the years. Dr. Pappa has a partner named Dr. Prosniewski. He's a stickler for detail too, but lacks the charm and warm personality, tending to be strictly business with his approach to dentistry. We always make sure we "come to Pappa" when we call for an appointment. Parking is usually available on the Elmwood Park side streets near Belmont, though the office does not have its own dedicated lot.

I've had 3, 4, maybe 5 root canals from Dr. Proctor, She'll remember your teeth without looking at the chart -- I could probably call her right now and she'd know. Her "chair-side" manner is unparalleled. She's exudes confidence, knowledge and is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. I've never had one issue with a root canal she's done. Always perfect and exact. You want an endodontist to do your root canals -- I'll never ever let a general dentist do it again. He "missed a root" and I had to have it all done over again. Dr. Proctor's staff is amazing too. Everyone is extremely friendly and they've all been there a long time -- that says a lot. Do yourself a favor and see Dr. Proctor.
