The kitchen staff were friendly. Our large order was completed quickly. The presentation left something to be desired as well as the provided utensils were not up to the task of the steak. We ordered Entrana ala plancha with black beans and yellow rice. It came with a green salad. Everything had a great taste though the steak was too tough for the plastic fork and knife. Tostones huge portion and well cooked Picada great value BUT the way it was packaged made it hard to tell what was what. And the steak became overcooked. However the chicken was moist and the portion was generous. Pineapple juice fresh squeezed and worth a trip on its own! A ton of empanadas, I think we ordered everyone that wasn't spicy. Good ratio of dough to filling. Well cooked. The Stanford were the Romeo and Juliet (in a bad way) and the Bombay, Cuban, and desayuno in a good way. I'd come back but probably to one of the sit down locations instead.

(This replaces a review I posted mistakenly for an Arepa Express in New Jersey yesterday.)…read more Deli Arepa Express, a Colombian food truck parked on 46th St. near Fifth Ave. (a.k.a Little Brazil) on weekdays, is popular among both Colombianos and non-paisas -- and it's not hard to see why. The food is fabulous! Pros: - Colombian style arepas (very different from Venezuelan arepas) can be ordered with either sweet corn or white corn masa, which came beautifully griddled and generously filled in my case with stretchy white queso. - Colombian empanadas, a personal favorite, are made with corn masa, beautifully fried to a crisp (but remarkably not at all greasy) and probably gluten free. The beef and potato filling we chose was moist and very nicely seasoned. - Papas rellenas were crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside, and came filled with tender, juicy, well seasoned shredded chicken and hardboiled egg. - The truck sets up tables and chairs in the somewhat sheltered area on the road between Deli Arepa Express and the next food truck down, for those who want to dig in immediately. It's surprisingly nice for literally on-the-street dining. - The business accepts credit cards and staff are very patient and kind. Cons: - Be prepared to wait. And wait. And wait. I killed some time by walking a few doors down to Pavé, standing in the long line of folks there, and picking up a baguette for my family. (The bread there is excellent.) When I returned to the truck, my food was not yet ready, so I killed some more time by popping into the dollar store like place across from the truck, browsing the surprisingly comprehensive selection of spices, and picking up some annatto / achiote, which we've been using in homemade sazón. My food was still not ready despite the fact that 2/3 of the items ordered (the empanadas and papas rellenas) were pre-prepared and sitting in the hot case. Luckily it was a nice day to queue and I enjoyed talking to other customers in line, almost all of Latine, if not Colombian, descent. - I almost never check my to-go bags, but thankfully did this time after walking about a block, since the bag felt suspiciously light. My order was missing two items. The folks at the truck remedied the issue, but caveat emptor here. It seems that the food can come with a generous sprinkle of chaos! Am I coming back? Absolutely -- but maybe at an off hour next time.

I was walking midtown and a guy hands me a card anouncing  'Deli Arepa Express'  so I think why…read morenot.  I expected a Deli store and I see a big food cart instead.   They sell Arepa sandwishes , Empanadas, hot dogs, coffee and small bite size breads along with other items.   I saw Chicharron, on the menu only it's in a Arepa with Queso,  a combo I never had, but I guess it's time for something new even if in the past I found Arepa to be dull and plain for me.   Well they added avocado and onions to my Arepa with special mayo saurce and I got a Manzana (Apple) soda too.   The Chicharron Y Queso Arepa Was very testy and the the Aprea was made with sweet Maza and grilled, so it was not dull at all. The only drawback was the  Chicharron was on the dry side and so more chewy but it still had the fried pork belly taste anyway, maybe next time I go for the Chorizo.
