The bun bo hue had a decent flavor of lemongrass and surprisingly came with mam ruoc on the side (a particularly unique and... stronger fish sauce essentially bc it's shrimp paste I believe). The Bun Bo Hue was decent. It was lacking the flavors of bun bo hue, but it wasn't too bad. It was enough to satisfy my cravings. The portion was big. It came with a pork hock which was a huge plus. I'm surprised it was not busier when I stopped by today but I was having a late lunch. Had the Bun bo Hue here and let me tell you, I'm Vietnamese myself so I always appreciate it when the restaurant gives you mam tom (shrimp paste) and sa te (chili oil) with it. Came here for the first time for a warm lunch on this cold afternoon, I have tried a couple other places in town for Pho, but this place knocked it out of the water. Our plates were HUGE, DELICIOUS, and FLAVORFUL. We also got some of the rice paper spring rolls (pictured below) and I think i could have ate 10 of them easily. I'm sorry but..... I don't love Pho.... At least not this one. I do not usually give one star reviews but just one totally tipped the balance. I think pretty much the whole experience in general is why I must have gotten them on an off day. Wanted to introduce some co-workers to Vietnamese food here to get them to come over to the dark side, so it was just the worst place one could think of. First of all the heater was not working so prepare for your food to be lukewarm for at least 5 minutes and then you are on your own from there. The service was okay at first but once the food is dropped it's kind of like runaway run far away and try not to be seen. Got up to ask for shrimp paste for the bun bo hue I was told they do not have any again (this is my second time in a year here). The bun bo hue that I ordered tasted nothing like traditional and not even the traditional hock piece that usually goes in there, you get sliced up pork which is very untraditional. The bobas that we ordered or decent except that the type of yoga was pretty much either old or not cooked long enough, kind of like eating a tapioca with consistency of Tootsie Roll without the flavor in the middle. The "shaken beef" if I could tell pretty much that it was not going to be very good just by looking at it when it came out, and surely it was not very good but it was not terrible. While you are busy freezing your butt off because the heater does not work you will also be accompanied by a whole slew of dirty tables around you, we sat there and wondered how long it would take for them to bus tables which are in half an hour average and would only be cleaned as people walked in. I'm pretty sure they must have been short on help or something. The pricing, let me tell you about the pricing! Definitely overpriced. $53 without the tip for just three people what kind of have you wondering why didn't you just go to a cheap steakhouse or even a seafood restaurant, I know apples to oranges but you get my drift. This is one of two places here in Lubbock that I definitely would not recommend you to take a first-timer to, time to explore around. read more

I love this local eatery. The food is authentic and bangin'. The service is attentive without being annoying. The ambiance could use some work but I can't ask for much more. There is a lot of seating, great condiment options (including this amazing garlic chili oil that is made in-house). I recommend either the Combination Pho or the Pho Tai Chin. This was my second trip to I Love Pho, and just as with the first time. I loved everything about it. We started out with the crab rangoon and they are incredible. I got the P4 which consisted of Tendons and Flank and the meat, while highlighted on the menu, is not the main star of the dish. The broth and what you're able to do with it is. With 4 sauce choices in the table there a multitude of ways to personalize your dish and create what you want. I've never actually tried a bean sprout before I came to this restaurant and I've never realized how incredible they are until I got them in my dish. We were in Lubbock that day and were craving some good Pho so we decided to try I Love Pho after seeing some good reviews. We started with the nem nuong cuon- which was really good. We hoped that we would get a good bowl of pho then. However, after getting our bowls of Pho, they were not good at all. There was some chemical taste in the broth that we couldn't figure out what that was. Being Vietnamese, we are used to having a lot of MSGs being put into the food; however, this wasn't it. My fiance got really sick that night when we got home because of eating that bowl of pho. Also, for the price, there isn't a lot of meat in our bowls- just a few thin slices that wasn't even good. Tried this place today. Takeout was super fast! I got a vermicelli dish, which was great. The pork was really, really good; it actually tastes like legit Vietnamese BBQ pork, which often isn't the case at most restaurants. The shrimp also had nice grill marks and tasted clean. My only critique is the fish sauce that came with was kinda sad and neutral. Better fish sauce (e.g. like a three crabs) would punch up this dish even more. I love pho will always be my Pho place here in Lubbock. I love it so much, I originally tried it in California and this is the closest I could get to that. The service here is wonderful, I'm not sure the servers name that's been helping me, but he's wearing a Lubbock high basketball shirt. Very polite and made sure I had everything I needed. My sister ordered Pho but even by the look of it the broth was so oily and greasy looking it didn't really look appetizing. So I tried her soup and there was way too much oil in it. Their PHO DAC BIET is the best that I've had in Lubbock. What make a good bowl of pho is the broth ALWAYS ALWAYS THE BROTH. The clarity of the broth and the rich star anise flavor of this broth is what makes it legit. They skimp on the meat which is depressing considering other pho places load it on for the same price. The pho my wife and I ordered yesterday is so small that a kids size pho from other restaurants are larger than these. Very little beef and very small quantity of noodle. Soup tasted are very average. The salt lemon soda we ordered also tasted terrible. We would say this is the worst pho we have ever tasted in Texas.
