Recently my wife and I had some friends bring us a pie from I love pie Bakeshop. I was pretty amazed at how good the pie was. I stopped in today and I picked up a couple of pies. Best thing I could think of to do on a rainy Friday afternoon. The lady who serve me was very nice and they are very observant at wearing masks and social distancing. I ordered 2 8 in pies for a birthday. I could not have been more disappointed. I was embarrassed when I opened the boxes. They looked small and they tasted fair at best. The cream filling was about a 1/2 in high which they tried to enhance by using spray whipped cream . The pie was more whipped cream than cream filling . 2 pies @$70 !!! We had some little tarts that were great so I decided to order the eggnog pie and the banana cream pie. The eggnog pie tasted extremely rancid at the first bite and I was sick all night long. I was leaving for a trip and made contact with the shop, pre-ordered and pre-paid for a couple of things. She went in the back and she was trying to figure out what to do. She came back out and said she would see if she could call in a baker to come in and make my order. I was very impressed by the way she handled a difficult situation. I did pick a couple of pies- lemon curd and banana cream. The pie was good...but the crust was to die for! Tasted great and they were light and flakey! Today I see that I received a refund of my original purchase...I just wish that it was proceeded by a phone call. I would have never requested a refund as I was given 2 pies and would have been fine with the money going towards them. This place is an amazing hidden gem in Sacramento for great pies! They are kind of hidden in a corner of a grocery store parking lot and they offer curbside pickup options for COVID. They always have an assortment of fresh pies and cheesecakes, my favorites are their fruit pies, especially the salted caramel Dutch apple pie and their mixed berry pie, but the chocolate cream pies and coconut custard pie are to die for as well. I'm happy to have found a place that offers all the goodness of fall all year round and I'm even happier that they have been one of my new favorite go to places during qurantine!
