This place has some great sushi!! Mind you, I got, probably, the most basic sushi roll ever. In fact a lot of people won't call this real sushi. But I've seen some places kill this, and not in a good way. I was hungry and craving something light and fresh so I decided to get some sushi. Luckily I came across this place on yelp. Since I was ordering to go, I wanted to get something cheap in order to not risk being super disappointed if it was bad. I got the California which is probably their most affordable roll. We have ordered sushi from here several times and while we have other places a little more this place is pretty good. Sushi we have ordered is fresh and they have excellent tempura. The tempura is by far the best of any sushi joint I have tried. My orders have been accurate and well packaged. We have not dined in here so can report on the dine in experience but the delivery has been fine thus far. Definitely worth checking out if you want to try a sushi place. I am impressed overall. A small, enchanting sushi restaurant with a very wide variety of choices of sushi, fried rice, tuna towers, and anything else you could imagine. (with a good price) I've eaten here twice so far -- once from takeout and once dine in. Both times my meal was absolutely delicious and I received great service! When you dine in, you receive miso soup with your meal that is DIVINE! The atmosphere and food is absolutely perfect. You really start to understand why it has the name it does. When deciding my star rating, I thought I should give it four stars, because I don't really like sushi. But then I thought well, this place makes me love sushi (get it) and for that reason they deserve 5 stars! Throughout the years I've visited quite often, and even more so that I've found a roll I really love. I've had a few rolls here I wasn't found of, but once again that's mostly because I'm not the biggest fan. I've even come in just to have some of their delicious miso soup! I've always received stellar customer service here, it seems like everyone here really love their jobs and are proud of what they do. One time I accidentally spilt my drink, and they were so quick to help me clean it up, without publicly shaming me in the process. Any of their veggie rolls are really good, and such a great price! I don't really mess around with any appetizers, because I find the food comes out pretty quickly and I'd rather order another roll as opposed to an appetizer. The last time I went in the person next to me ordered a bento box and it looked awesome! I will be trying next time for sure! But the real star of the show, the roll that stole my heart, is #99 the Genji roll. In the past, when I've had baked rolls I was never a fan. Almost always was their too much mayonnaise or something and the fish being so warm felt odd. But oh, the genji is totally different. It is a spicy tuna roll that is topped with baked salmon, and then covered in the most delicious sauce ever. The spicy tuna in the middle is life changing and the salmon on top is heavenly! The atmosphere is small and quaint. The service is always good and the owners are always there to pick up any slack. The food always comes out just the way it should. I live in Denton County and have traveled to many states to get some good sushi. I have not been fortunate to travel to Japan and taste the true delicatessen. I have to say i am very disappointed. We ordered the volcano roll and some of the shrimp, scallops, or salmon; whatever it was was raw. Also, I have had many volcano rolls and never had whole onion diced pieces, carrots, and who knows what else in a volcano roll. I won't even attempt to eat the sexy rolls that we ordered at this point. $100+ later. I wouldn't waste your time. read more

I have to say, I love this place. My daughter and I come here nearly every Saturday to see our favorite and attentive waitress Morgan (my daughter's name is Morgan and she gets a kick out of this). The owners are always so kind and polite to wish us a good day. They are prompt and accurate, and just a good bunch of people... HOWEVER, I came yesterday by myself to go about my usual Saturday routine, and I didn't see our favorite waitress... but another gal who looks similar. I couldn't even tell you her name because it was scribbled on the menu and on the check. I have NEVER waited so long for service: a menu, food, or a bill... I put my card out with the bill and waited forever for her to pick it up. Finally I paid in cash and left. Unfortunately, she was more concerned with cleaning off tables than to check on her current guests. Perhaps she's new? No bid deal... I will still come back. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Decor is very cute- paper cherry blossom lanterns and lucky cat decor. Ordered gyoza and spicy bulgogi bento box. Dumplings cooked perfectly and crispy. Bento box came with tempera shrimp and veggies, rice, miso soup and a salad. A lot of food for a lunch special... however it was priced at around $13. This is such a homey restaurant. Although it's a bit small, the people here are incredibly friendly. The servers were great and pretty attentive despite how busy it got. I walked in and was immediately seated. There were also miso soups to start us off! Ordered the Volcano Roll and the beef Yaki Udon. They were both flavorful and delicious. Although I didn't particularly like the big pieces of chopped onion that were on the roll, the roll itself was still good. Sushi-holics beware!!!! Cute atmosphere but the sushi was atrocious! Very little fish, and LOTS of rice on all their rolls, and sushi. I felt like I was at a all you can eat sushi buffet. What really set me over the edge and prompted this review, is their firecracker roll... jalapeño in sushi should always be freshly grilled. Instead they put pickled jalapeño on ALL their rolls that unfortunately mentioned the word jalapeños. Also got the Spicy Bulgogi roll, and even after water boarding it in soy sauce, it was still extremely dry. Honestly, not the best sushi place in Denton, but it is quite decent. They give you very good portion and customer service is always nice. One of the waitress there didn't really know her stuff or what she was doing, but she was nice so its okay. I had the soft shell crab bento, which was very different from anything I have ever had. The sauce is very important for these dishes so I think it could've been better. Tempura and gyoza were very hard, like it was frozen and deep fried many times. Most other sushi places in Denton is alright making me drive to Carrollton to eat good sushi but this is my new go to spot now. I originally went to a different restaurant down the street for dinner, but didn't have a great experience. I was so disappointed because I had wanted to try that place for years. I was having dinner with my yelp bestie and she recommended this restaurant. It was so close that we just walked over. We were immediately greeted at the door and seated.
