My husband and I have been coming here for years now! Our favorites are the dinner combinations, basically an extra large bento plate. It's a smaller more intimate space so the service is very excellent. You'll be greeted as soon as you walk through the door. The complimentary Miso Soup is very tasty, the perfect amount of salt and seaweed. We also really enjoy their salmon sashimi, it's a generously cut portion and very fresh. We could honestly just eat plates of it. All of their sushi rolls are assembled beautifully and taste wonderful. Their "plain" maki rolls are honestly just as good as their specialty rolls. When you come prepare to hear your neighbor's conversations, but you'll quickly get used to it and it's just you and whoever you're having a meal with. The wait staff was very nice and attentive, and the reason I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars. We love sushi and coming from California we had an abundance of restaurants with fresh fish. With that said, we had 5 different rolls all with various types of fish, 2 with jalapeños. First, jalapeños seemed to be canned as they were pickled (not an item to use in sushi), fresh jalapeños only. Secondly, not sure of the 5 rolls we ordered was the culprit(s) but will tell you they all came out with a vengeance. We were both sick for 2 days. I Love Sushi is the best sushi place in Denton without going to (or paying for) Keiichi. Everyone there is also nice and the owners are always there and always welcoming everyone with open arms. While cheaper than Keiichi, it's still pricey enough to be more of a special date or splurging kind of place. The rolls taste so fresh and the not too saucy ones are definitely the best. One of my favorites is the sexy roll, wrapped in cucumber. On the heavier side, the Chef's Special is a deep fried, jalapeño and cream cheese-filled roll that is guaranteed to please if that's more of what you're looking for. Cheap prices on house sake and soup served with every meal are the icing on the cake that make this place special. I want to give this place more stars because it's good but i'm sure they don't charge people dining in for siracha... it's a sushi place. The environmentally friendly fish-free 111.Green World Roll here ROCKS! Rolled with soy paper and filled with asparagus, cucumber and avocado... it's delicious. Try it with Sriracha! The miso and spring rolls here are also very good. The spring rolls are rolled with cucumber and filled with greens, which is unique, but tough to keep together. Definitely need the Sriracha and a fork with this one. They also have an avocado sushi that goes great with the Green World Roll. All 3 are vegan/gluten free. Love this place, and the fact that they offer us OPTIONS! They also have a sweet tofu Nigiri sushi which is unfortunately not sans gluten. Yum yum. read more

We had high hopes given all the good reviews, but we were disappointed. Had to do a to go order due to the Coronavirus... We ordered 2 rolls and a Tokyo Tower. The rice in the tower was old and hard and came with no wasabi or ginger. Got a Hawaiian Roll and it was not what I expected, they used canned pineapple and just thrown in the box in the middle of the rolls. (Did come with wasabi and ginger though). 3rd roll was a volcano roll and we are certain there were no scallops on it... It had a very strong fish smell and taste, that we aren't used to on most volcano rolls from other places. read more

Let me start this by saying I really enjoy the food and the owners are great people. But. Our server Jonathan, did almost the absolute least but it did not bother my group. After we got done eating, the check came out all together. To help out the server, we payed cash so he wouldn't have to split it again. We got off on counting and planned on giving Jonathan a tip of ~$12 for a ~$65 meal, but we were $10 short. Let me just say this was a complete accident. As we went to leave Jonathan stopped us on that way out and told us that "if you're not going to tip, don't bother coming back." If that's what you want, you got it Jonathan. You'll never get a dollar from me again. It's so sad for one business to be ruined for me because of one person but I understand that these things happen. I Sushi, please teach your servers that tips are earned and are kind gestures, not included for spoiled little children like Jonathan. We liked the familiar, friendly feel of this sushi shop in Denton enough to visit and dine in multiple visits. While I feel that most of their menu are rather generic and standard, there are few options that stand out and are worth trying. I'm glad to see hamachi kama (tuna collar) offered on their menu. The portion I received was huge and meaty, big enough to count as an entree. It paired beautifully with the citrusy soy dipping sauce that accompanied it. Their tempura appetizers are also not to be missed: they fry their tempura up very crispy making for a very tasty app. They had some good tasting fish in the nigiri we tried: the smoked salmon was perfectly smoked without being overwhelming, the mackerel had just enough dousing of sauce to balance with the oily flavor. For the rolls, we found very little to complain about except there hardly any rice-less rolls that we could find. We found a crowd-pleaser in the Cactus Dragon with its mix of eel, crispy shrimp tempura and avocado. The Hiroshima was also tasty, though lacking in heat. The Volcano differed from other volcano rolls in the past in that it was heavy in its use of salmon and tuna, with very little scallop and shrimp topping. The Pretty Woman, though eye-catching in its use of pink soypaper was the only disappointment--very bland and unappetizing and the smallest portion of all the rolls we ordered. On other visits, we tried the peanut roll, which is one of the most unique combinations of sushi and peanut sauce I've tried. Another blackboard special worth trying are the spicy tuna nachos (though I forget the name) which makes for a good appetizer. Overall, a meal at I Love Sushi is always a contented one, with the added bonus that the staff makes you feel welcome at every visit. read more

We looked ahead on the websites to make sure it was open long enough where we could dine in and not be "those people" walking in last minute trying to get a table. We were denied dine in service and when we called them out on it they stumbled over their words saying "it depends how busy we are". There were 3 different tables with people eating. The husband is the head chef and 3 cooks beside him are probably his sons or relatives and all Japanese as well. The wife ensures all the customers are satisfied and help the wait staffs when needed. Despite the restaurant being completely filled (Saturday night), there was little to no delay for our orders. Our waitress was a bit questionable in her ability to multi-task, however. We never got extra napkins despite having to ask twice. The place itself is well-decorated, the noise level at maximum capacity was not loud at all to my surprise. The sushi was fresh and clean. I would prefer a better presentation, which I would have gotten if the place weren't fully packed I reckon. The wasabi did not have any kick whatsoever for some reason. The price was fair but a tad pricey, especially nigiri, in my most humble opinion. The yaki soba (6/10) was a bit over-seasoned. Absolute gem of a business. Every person who has a complaint with this restaurant showed up right before they closed, so I think that speaks volumes for it self. My wife and I stopped in to grab some dinner without the kids. We started with the seaweed salad and vegetable tempura. The salad was very flavorful and fresh. The tempura reminded me of tempura in Japan. Came out piping hot, great crunch, and not greasy! We had the beef bulgogi roll, the tower, and the Louisiana roll. The beef bulgogi was so good. Great spice, so much flavor. The tower was excellent. Fresh, and ample serving. The Louisiana roll was also excellent. Generous toppings on the roll. Great flavor. I ended the meal with Tamago nigiri. I don't know why I enjoy it so much, but it was excellent. Just the right amount of sweetness in the omelette. We were served by, I think Tyler. It's a great place to try seafood for the first time or frequent if you're a seafood lover. The staff is nice, the meals are delicious, and their seafood is fresh.
