    Titanic roll
    Liliane D.

Came on a Friday night, kind of late so the place wasn't overly busy. Very few tables where we were given a choice to eat. Servers wear masks while patrons can take theirs off while seated. Overall experience was ok, service wasn't the best. Some of the sashimi was super good while some them still felt slightly frozen. Freshness wasn't the best in my opinion, considering the climate of everything going on I'm sure sourcing isn't as easy. Titanic roll was good though! At $50pp for the boat we had leftovers and I was stuffed to the gills

One of our favorite spots to eat. Great customer service & there food is amazing. We usually get the the spicy sashimi salad. The chicken wings are amazing for appetizers.

This place is alright. We got here around 4pm so it wasn't really dinner time yet. There was one lady working in the restaurant. She was the greeter, server and chef. Our food came out slow, probably because she was by herself. We ordered 2 sushi rolls each. My fiancé's came out first, so instead of waiting, I let him start eating while I eat the fresh shrimp roll. Sadly, the fresh shrimp roll was not very fresh. The wrap was chewy so that means it was pre-made. It was a big disappointment. After more minutes passed, 1 of my rolls finally came and I started eating. My fiancé had finished his food already and I finished my first sushi roll before my second roll came. The rolls weren't bad. The last roll was the poke roll which was too spicy for me. Usually I don't see chili sprinkled on spicy tuna roll, so that just made it too much so me. Ended up not eating it. By the end of our meal, 2 or 3 more staff arrived, which was good since 2 more tables got filled. I don't think I'd come back here. Service was too slow even though they were nice. And I wasn't wowed by the food.

This is what Uni at $14 a pair should look like. For the man to look me in the eye and serve me the "SHIT Sandwich" is so unforgiving, I have no words. Beware this F-Fest of a restaurant. I'm not here to plug another sushi place.

Ton of onions on Mongolian beef when asked for none!

Food was terrible. Asked for no onions on my Mongolian beef, got a ton of them instead, gyoza smelled bad and tasted like rubber, sushi was okay, placed the order online just to get a call from the lady asking why no tip was included and if we were going to tip, and said since we were a few miles out of the delivery zone we had to pay 5$ additional for delivery. Definitely not a good experience. Food was pretty bad. Will not be back

Very pleased with my experience here. I've been to both locations and have enjoyed their sushi. Sashimi, sushi and rolls are all fresh and delicious. Many of the rolls are like ones found in other restaurants but with a different name. I enjoyed my calamari salad and spicy tuna salmon roll. I tried my friend's Wow Roll and liked the spicy tuna top paired with avocado, smoked salmon and toasty tempura outside. Be sure to get a cup of their tea! It's delicious. Large portions stretch your dollar! Moderate prices make it not a total bust to your bank account.

I LOVE, I Luv Sushi! Again, these strip mall restaurants are impressing me more everyday! The sushi is great and the variety of rolls is impressive. I'd like to try every roll one day but I can barely finish 2 rolls in one sitting and leftover sushi from anywhere is not my favorite. So don't over order and enjoy your first couple rolls before you go crazy and order a ton of variety. Law of diminishing returns is a real thing. The staff is friendly, I've never seen this place completely full but it does get busy. Their take out option is good too and they're quick with the order.

The Alaskan Sushi Roll and miso soup were really good and fresh. The service was also good.

Food was good but took almost an hour for simple dishes. Told it was a off day but not likely to try again at the cost.

Very tasty food. There was a mix up with the order, but the management made good with no issues. Definitely will be going back

When we arrived, the parking lot was pretty small and seemed like it could fill up quickly during peak hours. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to be cleared before we could be seated. Once we sat down, I immediately noticed how sticky everything was! The table, the menus, and even the soy sauce (or "shoyu" for all my Hawai'i people) were noticeably sticky! The booth seats were also cracked. Luckily I was wearing long jeans so it didn't bother me too much. Normally, I don't mind a little noise, but the restaurant was extremely loud. Everyone around us seemed to be talking at full volume, to the point where we could hear entire conversations from other tables. It definitely took away from the overall dining experience and vibe. As for the service, it was underwhelming. Our drinks were never refilled, not even once, and we had to go without refills for the entire meal. I also noticed some of the staff eating behind the sushi bar while they were still working, which I found a little off-putting and unprofessional. We started with the garlic edamame, which was loaded with garlic, something I personally love. Unfortunately, the edamame itself was mushy and overcooked. We also ordered a shrimp tempura roll, combination fried rice, and a bulgogi bento. The shrimp tempura roll was decent and ended up being the best dish we ordered. The bulgogi bento, was VERY sweet, a little too sweet for my preference. The salad dressing wasn't anything particularly special, and the tempura was just okay. Overall, I really wanted to love this place, especially because I'm always on the hunt for good sushi outside of Hawai'i, but unfortunately, the food and overall atmosphere didn't quite meet my expectations. There were some decent dishes, but I don't think this will be a spot we rush back to.

Very nice staff and attentive and judging by all the people that waited to get in at opening, they are popular. The atmosphere was pleasant enough, clean and good lighting. Back to the ramen, I know I said it was good but I've lived in Hawaii where there are many ramen restaurants and was looking for different flavor profiles for their broth that I have found on the islands perhaps. This is definitely a "me thing" as I have a couple of friends who absolutely love this place. I would come again since Anchorage's options are limited as well as I know I'll receive good service.

Overall SOLID 4 Stars!…read more There are about half dozen Japanese restaurants in Anchorage, and after reviewing them on Yelp, we decided to visit this establishment. Ambiance 4 Stars - The restaurant is quaint and has limited seating (about dozen tables) and 6 bar seats. When you entered, the decorum feels like you have been transported to Japan and are eating at a local restaurant for the average hardworking people. I felt comfortable and relaxed. Lucky for us, we were able to be seated immediately because when it gets busy, there will be line out the door. And in 20 degree weather, that's not my cup of "matcha" tea. LOL! Service 4 Stars - I believe the restaurant is family owned and operated. Limited staff but the friendly, fast and efficient. Our server recommended several dishes which we ordered on a cold night. Only "ding" to our server was she didn't ask about our drinks. We were served water but she didn't take our drink order which was fine because of the yummy noodle broth we ordered. This place specializes in Japanese noodles, so don't expect a Hibachi show or variety of different sushi options. Their sushi option is very limited and you are not going to order teriyaki chicken with fried rice here. The star of the show are Japanese inspired noodle dishes and Katsu (deep fried Pork or Chicken). Food SOLID 4 Stars - We ordered Four dishes 1. 3 Stars - Pork Katsu - deep fried panko coated Pork with a tiny accompaniment of sliced cabbage. The Tonkatsu sauce (made of ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, Worcestershire sauce, ginger, and garlic), was liberally squeezed on the top of the dish. It was good but parts of the meat was slightly dry and the panko had a slight burnt taste to it. Possibly it was left in the fryer a little bit longer than it should. 2. 4 Stars - Kimchi Pork Tonkutso Miso Ramen Kimchi inspired w Chasu (pork belly), bean sprouts, green onions, one halved hard boiled egg, garlic flakes and ramen noodles. The ramen were al dente, had a slight chewy texture and it was a great way to soaked up the Miso broth. The miso broth was light and clear. Not as fatty or heavy as some other broths can be but had a wonderful flavor due to the other ingredients in it. This dish is loaded with Kimchi, so it might get a spicy. The Pork Katsu was a great palate cleanser to the kimchi heat. 2. 4 Stars Shoyu Ramen - same ingredients as above without the Kimchi. Also, is it chicken broth with soy sauce. The broth is light, slightly salty, and darker due to the added soy sauce. 3. 4 Stars Naruto Udon - chicken broth, shiitake mushrooms, freshly ground ginger and garlic, seaweed paper, green onions and bean sprouts. The rice based Udon noodles were thick and slippery. At times, they are hard to use with the chopsticks. The chicken broth has a wonderful Umami taste due to the earthy shiitake mushrooms. If you want more a vegetarian meal, this dish is the one. Even though they serve noodle soup dishes, don't forget to try their Japanese / Korean Curry dishes too. I will definitely be back to taste their curry dishes or appetizers like Gyoza and possibly get the Pork Katsu again just to try one more time. Also, there is a Combo Option for additional cost. I combine the Pork Katsu with the Kimchi Tonkutso for an additional $7. Check with your server or look on the menu. The prices and dish items may change later on. Enjoy!

The room has a high-energy, lively vibe without ever feeling overwhelmingly loud, and you can tell why the chef earned a James Beard nomination. You definitely need a reservation; they have a few walk-in spots, but they go very fast, so you will want to get there right when doors open if you do not have one booked. The beverage menu is very well done, with great cocktails and thoughtful mocktails that felt just as crafted. For food, our starters set a high bar; the pork buns, pickles, and octopus were all flavorful and well prepared. The ramen itself was delicious and hits the spot in the Alaska weather, with deep, tasty broths and bold flavors throughout. The Dark Horse was especially good. We did not have room left for dessert, but the savory side of the menu more than delivered.

We came a little after opening at 5:15 and were seated at a table immediately. Larger groups may have trouble without a reservation. Everything was phenomenal. My husband had a couple cocktails and I had a couple NA cocktails. I was really impressed with the NA cocktails -- they were complex in flavor and not overly sweet. Husband was also impressed with his drinks. For appetizers we got the pickles, pork buns and takoyaki. In my opinion the pork buns are the way to go. I also enjoyed the pickles and there were a good garnish with other dishes. For ramens we got the dark horse and Tokyo rich tsukemen. Wow wow wow, they were simply excellent. The broths had so much flavor. The tsukemen was a fun dish with having to assemble it yourself and dip food into the broth. Pork belly serving was very generous. Some of the best ramen I have ever had. If you are in anchorage you need to eat here!
