I usually love this place but our pizza came out literally cold, and I asked for it to be well done. It also was not cut at all.

So I normally like to come here with my boyfriend every once in a while just kidding we go quite often. I usually order the chicken alfredo or the potato ranch but today i decided to go with thr classic mac anf cheese and branch out to try their new chicken and waffle pizza. it was fairly hot today and we decided to eat inside because it was so nice and air-conditioned. I personally love how they upped cycled once was a meth den into a cool hippie lounge. There was cute lights and posters all around and I think that it is a nice industrial aesthetic. The chicken and waffle had some sort of hot honey which we both enjoyed. But the chicken was OK I didn't really feel like it was complete I felt like somehow it was missing something. Felt felt lacking of substance I don't know what it was missing but I just felt like it was kind of bare. I went with the mac & cheese because it's a classic but honestly I've had better mac & cheese pizza from here before like sometimes it's more crispy and this time it kind of just felt like limp. The service was really nice and fast the cashier was very nice to us. I definitely would come back here again but I'm just going to get something different. Also I love the bathrooms they are so boujee and you can pull open the door with your foot and thats innovate. 8. 5/10 experience but a 9.5 overall because I do love the spot and I do have a punchcard. :) read more

The pizza is good, but the Caesar salad dressing is what this review is about. Like, somebody really know their Caesar salad dressing here. Their Caesar dressing is one of the best I've had in the whole wide world. You can also dip pizza crust and breadsticks in it. This is obviously homemade and please don't ever change your dressing recipe! read more

It's Ian's, so you know pretty much to expect for food. I tried out the Thanksgiving slice with cranberries, stuffing, green beans, and nor, and it... actually worked. Very pleasantly surprised by that. Yes, the order/pickup layout is a bit weird here, but ultimately what you think of it is tied much more to what you think of Garver itself. There's no physical barrier between Ian's and the rest of the cavernous first floor, so it can get a bit loud. However...you're not going to get as many drunks here - perhaps why it's safe that this location has a few craft beers on tap. read more

I have been eagerly anticipating the opening of this new location of Ian's as I live nearby and spend a fair amount of time on the bicycle path that passes right in front of the Historic Garver Feed Mill. In the past month there have been several times when I wanted to go grab lunch with family, but this location is closed until 3pm?! This seems to make little sense as this would be a perfect lunch destination for all of the bicycle path/Ohlbrich botanical garden patrons. This does NOT seem like a great "late night" spot. So I finally had the chance to visit yesterday for a late lunch, walked over there with my dog on a hot summer day, but when we arrived there was no water bowl outside for my dog, who was overheated and panting (temp yesterday was 80F). There was a hose outside but no bowl, so I went inside, ordered a salad, and asked for a bowl for my dog. The guy behind the counter looked confused, went in back to ask his manager, then returned and said "We don't have bowls for dogs yet, but we might have them soon." He then walked away without offering any alternatives. No plastic cup, to-go salad bowl, ANY receptacle that would hold a few ounces of water for my dog...I later asked another employee who was equally unhelpful. Ok fine, you don't have a bowl designated for dogs, you're a new business I get it, but come on! No problem solving skills to help a paying customer by two employees apparently. I do want this business to succeed, but I won't be returning until I hear that they're putting a bit more effort to accommodate customers with dogs who come in off the bike path looking for a respite from the heat. read more

As the anchor of a cavernous neighborhood gathering area I'd imagined they'd be able to bring themselves to open before 3 PM. Rode over today, a Saturday, for a slice and a hangout at 1 PM and was astonished to discover the ridiculous hours. Being closed Mondays is also a pet peeve, I always forget when businesses do this and end up showing up disappointed. When Garver was conceived I imagined a vibrant and bustling space, especially appealing during our long winters, full of vendors and atmosphere. Instead we have this gargantuan, mostly unused, hall with one place, as of now, that is closed during most of the daylight hours. read more

My son loves the mac and cheese pizza. And since you order by the slice we all don't have to eat it. Their salads are pretty good and fresh. Ice cream is a nice bonus too. It's easy to order a meal for a family and not break the bank. Nice outdoor seating area especially if you go on a weekend when the seat cushions are on the couches and chairs. read more

Great atmosphere and super kind and chill staff. I got the farr out salad which was really good. The pizzas looked amazing. I love how theres also ice cream and other things in the building. I have been going to Ian's for a long time and I have never, EVER, had a complaint and the food is sooo good! I eat a lot of salads, my favorite being a Caesar salad. And I'm very picky about them when I eat out. Their Caesar salad here was the BEST one I've had in Madison yet. Lots of lettuce and grilled chicken, and they actually toss the salad in the dressing like it's supposed to be done! Usually, restaurants want to put it on the side and they never provide enough They even add eggs to the salad here. It was just really yummy The pizza was very good, as well. Recommended by Madison residents. I definitely agree this is a great pizza place. The pizza is excellent. It is New York style and not Chicago deep dish style, which is a nice change. Thin and crispy crust. What's different in the set up of this restaurant? You go to a counter and pick your pizza by the slice from different flavor pizzas. You then pay, pick up your final order, and take your food to a table. There are no waiters. It's also located inside a newly renovated building that includes other businesses. A nice and modern atmosphere. The prices are also very reasonable. I highly recommend this pizza establishment. read more

I love going here and being able to order by the slice. 9 times out of 10 service is incredible. Ice cream is a great treat afterwards and the dressing you get with a side salad is THE BEST! The only downside is when they don't have cucumbers, which has happened 3 different times. :( read more

We've been excited about Ian's coming to the east side since the sign went up. I started to go to Ian's on State Street, before they expanded the first time to have seating. We went tonight and once figuring out how to get in (no signs, good thing out was still light out) made our way to the counter to order. We shared a Greek salad, and had slices of mac & cheese and buffalo chicken. This is probably the best place I know for salads and have never had a slice that wasn't yummy, with a crisp crust and just enough toppings. They also serve beer at a small bar next to the cashier and ice cream (Calliope, a local brand, and chocolate shoppe). Since we were celebrating my birthday, we were going to go all out and have dessert too. Walked over to the selection and the server was pouring beverages for a couple seated less than 5 feet away. She looked at me and went back to explaining how the space was going to evolve. I raised my hand to get her attention, just in case she didn't see us, to which she replied I'll be right there. She then ran the bill for the couple at the bar, and walked them over to the register to pay their bill, talking to others and still avoiding us. It appeared she had no intention of letting me try the lavender lemon or dirty martini ice cream. Not sure if it was deliberate, but those at the bar certainly got more of her attention, even though she knew we were wanting ice cream. Seemed like we waited longer than anyone would expect with a server, who knew we were there, a few feet away. Instead, I had French silk pie at Monty's, where we were served within the minute of sitting down. for the food and minus one for service. read more

Avoid this Ian's Pizza at all costs. I still love the brand but this location is managed and operated horribly. I will drive the extra 15 min to either downtown Madison location. They really need to do something about the efficiency at this location. So sad to see something with so much potential flounder on so many levels. I will never order from Ian's pizza again. I ordered two black and blue slices and there is no steak on either slice. Also this store needs to make sure their descriptions are updated. I ordered two of the italian slices thinking that I would be getting the italian beef that I was on the internet and it is two slices of pizza with a meat and banana peppers! We have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the new Ian's- and the pizza did not disappoint! The low review is because of two reasons: 1. The private event and 2. Organization of space. I headed there with my son on a Saturday night around 5:30. We waited in line for over 40 minutes just to order 2 slices of pizza. They had a "private" event happening in which every guest had to order their own pizza. As people not involved in the party- we had to wait in line with them to get ours. There has got to be a better system! Also- there was ZERO signage or postings that this was the situation. If we had known, we would not have come and gotten so frustrated! As for the space- it is virtually impossible to have a private event there. As a person who just wanted to have dinner at Ian's, we were surrounded by people at this event. I honestly felt we were crashing the party. I know this is new and working through kinks- but I think we will wait a while to return...which is a shame. read more

We are just down the road from this location which we are really excited about. The building is beautifully renovated and we cannot wait to see what it's like once it's fully occupied. This wasn't the same well oiled experience as the downtown location but all orders were as requested and quickly ready. Give them time and I am sure they will find their groove. Mixed feelings for my first time at Ian's pizza. Like the other reviews reflected, the menu and line was extremely confusing. I highly recommend looking at the menu online ahead of time, especially if you want to build your own pizza, as the menus above the counter do not list the available toppings. ***Also note, the line starts at the salad bar.*** Since the staff was so new, we had a hard time navigating ordering, which was frustrating to repeat the order several times. We came on a Sunday just after 4PM and they were out of both kinds of pesto...and they forgot to add our tomatoes to our order. I am thankful the bartender allowed me to try the beers on tap beforehand. Also thankful for the vegan options. If you are impatient, hungry, or the it's busy this place will be a struggle for you. Invite the family, and take your beer for a walk around the mill to read about the history. I'll be back to try the vegan pesto lol. read more

When you go to Ian's you know your going to get a lot of flavor profiles in the pizza combinations, some are better then others but it's always very good. What surprised me on my last visit was how good the fresh made salads are, Delicious ... goes great with the pizza. The room is really cool with lots of vintage artifacts around the perimeter of the building. Can get a bit noisy when crowded. Can't wait to go back. read more

Hmm. Decent pizza but poor service. It started when the counter guy had an attitude toward my hearing-impaired friend. We should have turned around and walked out. But we didn't. Then he actually asked us for a tip--tell me why, when we are there in person to get our slices and can of soda (he didn't even have to pour our drinks), why should we give him a tip? Especially when he was such a jerk and, after giving him a 20% tip, it still took him 5 minutes to get our slices, even though it was already done and all he had to do was plop it on a paper plate and carry it 8 feet. I don't know, maybe he's the only creep they have on staff, but he was nasty enough that I would think twice before going back there. read more

I waited patiently in line for a side salad. The lady who finally took my order had the warmth of an ice cube. She moved as slow as I've never thought humanly possible. I asked for two additional toppings on my side salad. Realized later I was charged for five and she only gave me one! I ordered a slice of pizza. I ate my salad while waiting for my slice to be ready. When I went to pick up the slice, the woman eek made my salad was there. I mentioned that she only gave me one extra topping and charged my four five. I want expecting anything, not even a refund. I enjoyed the salad as it was. When I told her about the missing toppings and overcharge, she asked me where the salad was. I told her I ate it. She said, "well that's not the way to handle that. " I told her I didn't need anything, just wanted to let her know. She actually started yelling at me while walking away!! I told another person at the counter about it. He said he'd tell the manager. Then I see him and her talking about it and laughing. My slice had the wrong toppings on it too! No apology from anyone. Bad experience. read more

I love Ian's pizza... the salads and I usually am not disappointed with my meal and service. However. When going too this new location, the pizza took about an hour. The server came out and apologized since the first pizza they made was burnt they needed to make a new one. The Pinot Noir was from a can. They ran out of our beer choice and didn't tap another barrel. Not sure why, at least 10 employees standing around. The staff handled food without gloves. This Ian's really needs better management. Disappointing but will go back and just have a slice of pizza. read more

Oh New Ian's @ Garver Mill... I wanted to love you so.... Now that I have entered your new store... You have me wanting so much more! 3 of the four signature salads were missing their signature ingredients. Although the cheery salad clerk offered creative suggestions to make up for the delinquent details... How about ranch dressing for your Greek Salad? You could try the Southwest Salad.... We are only out of the Beans and Corn for that one... And what's with the"bare" handed handling of the Pizzas?? Seriously?? I mean I know that you can wash your hands... But the staff that I watched shuffling the pizza slices never stepped away to wash after handling a multitude of other items before returning to shuffle more slices from pan to pan.... It left us wondering if both locations use the same process??? But because the State Street location is so much better organized we never had a need to pay that close attention? Although we will now. Hopefully things will get better . Until then... We will pass the pizza here for now ... read more

The slices available looked pretty sad and dried out when we stopped by on a recent Sunday night. This was a great disappointment. If you're only in it for the pizza, go now and go often. I had a fantastic salad and my pizza tasted fresh and the crust had that awesome chewiness. I was looking forward to this location being a better match than State Street location to bring my Dad. I envisioned better accessibility. My Dad has mobility and hearing issues. If you approach from the Olbrich Garden side you will be confronted with stairs. There are two handicapped spaces that I saw on the other side and they were full. There is a lot of walking involved to get inside, order, and pick up your food. The bathrooms are remote. It is LOUD. There are booths and tables. The tables have stools like you sat on in art class in grade school with no back. There needs to be better signage where to enter the building, and better instruction signs of what to do once you are inside. The couple ahead of me was very confused. Some of these things are fixable (more handicap parking, more comfortable chairs, and signage,) and some are not due to it being an older building. They are offering Both Calliope and Chocolate Shoppe ice cream. Staff was very nice and friendly. If you like pizza, are able bodied, and don't want to talk to your dining companions, this is an excellent choice. read more

Went last weekend hoping for a great place for slices of pizza. Nope! The one on State St. is much better. Garver was poorly planned and the signage wasn't helpful. Hard actually to find the entrance. Very large and noisy space. The pizza was luke warm and we and others there asked to have it heated further. I was given the stink eye by one of the male employee's (manager?) sure didn't need that especially when paying $4.50 per slice of cold pizza! Skip this place. read more
