Drunken Fried Rice Mango Sticky Rice Chicken Satay
    Sean C.

I've been to IB Thai probably twenty times. They even catered some food for my wedding. Everything is usually 15 minutes from phone order to pickup. The mango sticky rice and satay appetizer are excellent. And really, the chow mein is killer. I wasn't expecting it from a that restaurant. But also the orange chicken is also stellar. So yeah, Chinese food at the Thai place. Everything I've had is great, which has been a significant amount of the menu. It's fast, affordable, and tasty. So good.

Chicken Pad Thai level 4 to go

IB Thai is a local favorite with delicious flavors and friendly staff with the option to dine in a dimly lit and quiet setting, but tonight, we opted to get out Pad Thai to go. I ordered the chicken with a spice level 4 and the beef with a spice level 10. This is the place to go if you want intense heat without sacrificing taste!

Ordered delivery for lunch on UberEats and I got their IB Steak plate. It comes with steamed vegetables and a side of white rice! I didn't eat the rice, but for portion sizes, it was definitely enough for me. Other than no utensils, which was probably just forgotten in the bag, the steak was a bit hard to bite. That aside, it was so delicious with their steak sauce! It was limey, salty, and peppery without it being too much. I ordered spicy and there were lots of sliced peppers, but it wasn't a burn-my-mouth spice. It was nice to try this spot out for delivery, although, I cannot give a full rating for the dining experience. I did enjoy the steak plate and was satisfied for lunch.

I love this place. It's literally around the corner from my house. The food is always fresh. The staff is extremely hospitable. I always get the orange chicken or the Ib steak, and ask for extra sauce it is delicious!!!

Chicken Pad Thai, Peanut Sauce Salad, 2 Pork Gyoza

This is a small and affordable Thai place in IB with some respectable lunch offerings. I've been craving Thai food after trying it in Pacific Beach and I wanted some despite being down here near home, so I tried this place out for lunch on like a Thursday at 2:50 PM. I got myself the Chicken Pad Thai Lunch at spicy level 5, which comes accompanied with a salad covered in a type of peanut sauce, and 2 pork gyoza. Paired it up with some veggie rolls and my friend wanted her side of rice and we had a pretty hefty meal for only around 24 dollars with our drinks included. The service was also good as the guy was nice and patient with us which is always nice. I have to say though, that I didn't love the Pad Thai this time and the chicken seemed a bit dry to me. The noodles were also not my favorite and I'm not really sure how to describe why they weren't but the flavor, texture, and vibe was just really not there for me. I also just didn't love the veggie rolls because they had a very mild but still underlying wrong flavor that you get like when you buy those make at home spring rolls and they just don't hit like they're supposed to. The lunch deals are cheap and the food isn't bad, but it's not the best Thai i've had here in San Diego (55 Thai is still king) and I can't say I recommend this spot. I'm gonna change the noodle types and I'll be back for a second calling maybe I just need some Pad See Ew, but I really made me sad because I wanted this Thai food to be bomb soooo bad. It's ok thought, they were still very nice and acocomodating, and they have boba so maybe i'll try that too and see what else they have to offer. Also some reviews have mentioned it but this is most definitely a togo focused kinda place, and they gave it to us in togo containers without forks, he was almost surprised we had sat down and wanted to eat it there. People are mean about the interior but hey it's just another small restaurant, but yeah they totally have that togo vibe going on. To sum everything up tho, DO GET the lunches if you can make it before 3 PM because the price makes it worth getting the food every time i mean mann just look at the leftovers I had. DO NOT get the veggie rolls I'm sorry I hate that they were bad but they were not good. And outside of that try this place out once especially if you can catch the deals but do come in with some lower expectations. And I would drop my spice down to like a 3 it's not that I don't like spicy but I'm big on you can always add, never take out and 5 was just a tad bit too spicy for me. Outside from all that, it's DAYGOEATS approved but not certified.

    So yummy

This is by far my ULTIMATE favorite Thai place. I've driven all the way from Point Loma just to come pick up my order. Yes I'm sure there is other delicious spots in Point Loma area, but I get my money's worth at IB Thai. I actually discovered this spot on Groupon first. Groupon has a 15% discount and I decided to use it and after my first visit they had a dedicated customer. My husband even loves coming here and gets a huge smile on his face when I tell him let's get food at IB Thai. They are quick with your order and make sure everything is safe and sanitary when you come in to pick up your order. I highly recommend IB Thai if you love AUTHENTIC Thai food. Oh also their levels of hot range from 1-10 and level 5 is pretty freakn HOT!!! And that's coming from a person who regularly eats spicy food.

Absolutely love this place and the employees! The food is fantastic.. we haven't ordered anything we didn't even remotely love. Their lunch specials are really great and you get a decent amount of food for the price. Whenever my partner gets home from a work trip we always get to go-- our usual order is chow mein with chicken, chicken fried rice & orange chicken! We also love the coconut shrimp It's a lot of food for $30 or so, and we have leftovers!

Great food and really no costumer service. I ordered the pad tie and crispy chicken wings. 10/10! Definitely will be coming back.

The pad Thai seemed to be missing something, the orange chicken didn't pack the punch it should but it was ok. Their Thai ice coffee 10/10 was awesome. I got the appetizer sampler. It was normal American-Asian fried junk, but I kinda liked it. Well,…read morethe egg rolls were just okay. The texture was good, but they kinda taste like nothing. The cheese wonton things had a nice texture too. The shrimp were probably the best as I feel like they're usually less consistent, but these had a great crisp to it. The sauce was like a normal-ish sweet and sour in taste. However, I was not a huge fan of the spicy basil I ordered. I did not find this to be "aromatic." Rather, instead of spicy basil, it seems that I accidentally ordered the spicy onion, as every bite is meat and onion. I can hardly taste the tiny amount of basil. Their spice level goes from 1 to 10. I asked if the 10 would be an American 10 or Thai 10. He said it's "not 'that' spicy," so I went with 10. This turned out to be about right for what I wanted. On a 1 to 10 of Thai spicy, I would put this at about a.......4-5, so it is actually spicy. The flavor was still kinda lacking though. This dish is proof that just because something spicy, doesn't mean it has a lot of umami. Also, I don't like the rice here. I think it's not jasmine or short grain? It's long grain, right? Is it good quality Thai long grain or some cheap thing? I want to say I prefer it to be more absorbent enough for spicy food, but that's definitely not the main issue here. Or they don't use a rice cooker, but I'm not sure. What kind of brand is this? It sucks.

However, when I arrived to pay, the older gentleman at the counter informed me that they only accepted cash. It would have been helpful if that had been mentioned during the phone call so I could have come prepared. He told me to use the ATM next door, but I wasn't comfortable using a random ATM, so I checked my car to see if I had enough cash. Unfortunately, I didn't. When I returned to let him know, he suddenly pointed to the Apple Pay terminal, indicating that electronic payment was actually an option. As I attempted to pay, he repeatedly asked whether I wanted to leave an 18%, 20%, or 25% tip. I politely declined, but instead of processing the payment, he continued to pressure me, even offering me a free soda if I left a 25% tip on my $45 order. Not sure exactly how long they have been at this location but I seem to remember a not as appealing restaurant being there before. I'm used to having to pay before served, as that seems to be the norm these days in many placed, not Mae's I was told pay when I leave. That helps to cement in the true restaurant feel. Generous portions and you get a glass of water without even being asked. I did ask and was provided with nice bamboo disposable chop sticks to eat with. I had the Drunken Noodles with Pork. Hot scale 5, and yes it did bring a tear to my eye. Other restaurants can not bring on the heat and flavor. Mae's Thai Kitchen brought on the heat and flavor. I was a bit surprised that there was no hot sauce or soy at the table. Did not ask for any sauce either as was not needed. The noodles and pork were done to perfection. The mark of a good chef is no sauce extra or flavor needed. What came to my table was Perfect. Reasonably priced and could actually feed two people if you wanted. Look at my plate there was a generous supply of pork provided. Yes I'd recommend to friends and family. Hot scale runs from 1 to 5 (I said 100) Food was great!!!
