In 2013, Carlos DeJesus opened the BBQ in South Florida. He created his own version of the very popular "Churrasqueira" concept by adding a unique open-flame grill with a charcoal fire to complete the flavorful food. The grill was imported directly from Portugal & is believed to be the only one in Florida. Iberia marinates their meats in a signature Piri Piri sauce allowing the flavors to permeate & flavor their chicken, ribs & steaks. The outside needed a little TLC. Inside we were greeted by a knight in shining armor. The dining rooms were decorated with posters and photographs of Portugal. The restaurant was spacious and very clean. We were warmly welcomed by Carla, our waitress, from outside of Lisbon. Service was impeccable. We enjoyed the bread & olives while perusing the extensive menu. They were meat, seafood, and family meals. There was a drink menu with lots of wines and beer. There was a full bar with European soccer on the screens. We shared a pitcher of white sangria that got better as the evening went on. Four of us shared a tremendous paella with lobster, 8 baby lamb chops & and octopus meal, all bringing large containers home. The lamb chops were rare juicy, and very lean. There was a lot of seafood hidden in the moist saffron rice. The grilled octopus was fresh and perfect. Portions were very generous and prices were very reasonable. Stopped in with 11 of us. We tried some of everything. All the meals were amazing. We had the sardines and they were cooked perfectly. Also had the bitoque. Steak with the egg. They were cooked to perfection. Also had the Cameron mosembique and bife a Portugal and there where no complaints. The bacalhau grilled was also amazing. Hard some shots and espressos to finish it all off. Will definitely be back the next time in town. It's a little dark in here but the friendly staff definitely brightens up the place. read more

I grew up in an area with many Portuguese restaurants and Iberia nailed it with the flavors that I am accustomed to. I got Portuguese chorizo as a started and the charcoal bacalao as my entree. I cannot tell you how good this place it. It's dark, and cozy which makes you feel like you're really in tavern in Portugal. The place is filled with Portuguese people (not Brazilian's) and you know if they're going there it's authentic!! They start you off with complimentary olives, bread and butter. The olives were off the hook. They went so nicely with their Portuguese beer super rock. We went at lunch time and they have a "business men's lunch special" that's amazing. It's between 12-18 dollars. It includes beer or wine, an entree, soup and coffee. It's amazing value and truly big plates and flavors. The food here is loaded with flavor!! I got the grilled chicken breasts with a garlic sauce that was to die for. My dish was supposed to come with fries, salad and rice. I told them to remove the fries and rice and just give me more salad. They were very accommodating. My husband got the cod fish iberian style. I tried it and it was delicious. Our friend got the cod fish also, but it was done in a different form (I forget it it was roasted or grilled, but it too was delicious. I can't say enough good things about the food. The Portuguese wine was truly delicious too. They had 2 large tv screens and had the soccer game going, so my husband and most of the men there were thrilled to have it. It really felt like Europe with the men raising their voices Everytime someone almost scored. The only down side is, that the service does feel a little European. Almost non-existent. So, unless you flag them, they don't want to bother you or intrude (I think) and they wait standing behind the cash register. It's not that they're looking at their phone or anything like that, I do genuinely feel that they feel they're intruding on your family time or something. We decided to go there today, and what a great surprise! The appetizers (octopus vinaigrette and shrimp in a garlic sauce) were delicious. The white wine called Azevedo was great! Wow! This place turned out to be a wonderful find. We'd driven past here several times before. There aren't too many places that serve Portuguese food and I was intrigued. This is a small family owned business. Next to the dining room and bar is another larger room for special events and private parties. They specialize in barbecued items -- but it is more charcoal grilled like at a churascarria place than southern US style. Many of the tables were filled with large parties. They were sharing huge players of ribs and chicken and other meats. In addition the menu has a slew of Spanish (from Spain not Cuba) and Portuguese items. They brought out marinated olives to snack on while we were reading the menu; Along with a basket of two small loaves of freshly baked bread and butter. Although they usually serve pitchers of sangria, they were nice enough to make me up a glass. It was freshly made of orange juice mixed with red wine, apple and orange pieces, all over ice in a tall glass. Very refreshing. We decided to share an entree to start. We figured it would be a plate of small grilled fish and that would be a nice appetizer. Our grilled sardines were 9 medium size charcoal grilled whole fish along with halved boiled potatoes and roasted red peppers with onions. Thank goodness we were sharing! The flavor of the charcoal and a bit of lemon and salt on the fish were just delicious. This is not for the squeamish as the sardines came heads and all. It's messy but delicious. Even though we were full already, next came the two appetizers we'd selected. My husband's charcoaled sausages that came with pickled veggie, he tasted but wound up taking home. I managed to eat all my shrimp in green sauce -- lots of garlic and cilantro in a sauce over medium size shrimp. The sauce was perfect for dipping the crusty bread. Luckily it was only appetizer sized. Well, we just had to try some dessert. We had their Portuguese flan -- similar to cuban flan, but a bit firmer and not as creamy. It had a nice burnt caramel sauce on top. I'm glad I tried it, but it wasn't my favorite. This would be a great place to come with a group so you could taste and share dishes or have one of the family combo platters. Service was friendly. This is a GREAT and authentic Portuguese restaurant. At first I was skeptical as the dining room was completely empty on Saturday at 6 pm. Thankfully we decided to start with shrimp in garlic. It was so good we decided to stay. We ate for 3 hours. We had caldo con bacalao, fresh snapper, octopus and clams and pork medallions with clams. The portions were very generous. I was in the mood for some Spanish or Portuguese food so in a search this great Portuguese place showed up. We came by not knowing what to expect. Overall, we had a great experience. 1) Place was clean and welcoming. 2) Waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive. 3) Food was delicious: Ordered several to try a few different selections. The Steak on a stone (looked like a NY Strip) was excellent. It was a nice experience. I have had this before but at other places overseas. The Sausages, Garlic Shrimp, and vegetables were good. Found Iberia on Yelp and had dinner here last night with my family. Everything was excellent. We had Calamari and Goat cheese bruschetta for appetizers, which the table enjoyed. My parents had the Chicken with Garlic sauce while my brother and his wife shared the BBQ chicken (a plate full of happiness as he called it) both of which were great. There was so much BBQ chicken that he brought home at least another full meal. My wife got the Octopus and I got the Portuguese Sardines. We shared each others plates so we could both enjoy both dishes. For dessert the table shared some Pastel De Natas and some Port and Ginja drinks. Ginja has always been hard to find at restaurants and we were very pleased to find it here. The owner was by the table several times to make sure everyone was happy. I have been very anxious to have baccalau and what a variety I found at the Iberia! My grandma used to make this all the time and now that I am her age I really wanted some. And boy was it delicious! The portion size could have fed a family so I have plenty for the several days. My son had a dish with chicken and black beans and rice and it was enough to feed 4 but sorry he ate it all! I'm truly on the border of giving Iberia a 5, however I truly don't eat enough Portuguese food to be certain it's a 5. I can assure you that I absolutely loved my entrees. Iberia is a stand-alone restaurant on a highway and not a trendy area or shopping center. On the inside, it's really casual with tables and a bar in one room. There's another room with a stage, but was dark on my Sunday night visit. We had a reservation and sat down to a fairly empty dining room, which quickly filled up over the course of 20 minutes. My table got a pitcher of white and a pitcher of red sangria. Watching our server behind the bar, I noticed the base for both were the same and the difference came from the wine. The fruit was added at the end. There was a tiny sticker on my Apple...oops! The sangria was overall enjoyable though, but I definitely a little pre-made. We first received the bread; it seemed like it may have been frozen. Unfortunately, the goat cheese bruschetta wasn't available. The entrees were so large, it wasn't necessary. My husband did get the "chicken soup" which absolutely had the alphabet and was standard. The best part of my experience was by far the mains. The seafood eaters started with the garlic shrimp. Phenomenal! Of course it was heavily garlicky, but had a great flavor as well. There were about a dozen medium sized shrimp that came completely pre-peeled. We also got the seafood paella. They say it's for two people, but it could easy satisfy four people. It consisted of a full lobster, mussels, clams, calamari, squid and shrimp. I never saw the shrimp in this dish though and there were more clams/mussels versus squid. There also wasn't a ton of meat in our lil lobster, but what we got was good. The flavors of the seafood and rice played so well together. The rest of the group called ahead for a chicken and veggie paella. It was good, however I think having the mix of seafood in it added a little something extra. This could've fed four people as well. I left raving about my meal and it will be one of my favorites on my recent trip to Florida. My homework is to eat more Portuguese cuisine to see where this stacks up. Feb 14th 2023 Was hoping to find a nice local restaurant to recommend for a group of ladies that go out monthly for lunch, so my husband and I went to try try Iberia. I was told by the waitress they are unable to accommodate a large group unless we give our orders ahead of time. Terrible experience. This is NEVER bacalhau we eating in Portugal never EVER. My order take more than 20 minutes to arrives. I ordered that one in charcoal. The testy of the bacalhau I ordered was pure chemical. Easy to understand. For sure they defrosted the bacalhau and it took so long time for sale and the bacalhau starting spoiler, and than add some concervante chemical to keeping fresh but it was NOT. I opened the meddle of meat and the small was something started to spoil but I keeps eating and I feel in my palate a flavor of spoil bacalhau meat with something like Clorox something acidic. I farted all night long smelling chemical. This a really crap and danger place to eat. Everybody must be carful if you order bacalhau, I don't know the rest of menu but I will never show up there again even for free. I really recommend you go to Portugal to learn how to make bacalhau. You must review your food brother. Including the oil please don't use extra virgen olive oil mixed with vegetal oil. Come on. read more

Every once in a blue moon, I will go driving down a particular road and spot a new restaurant find. But it is even rarer when I actually try the place and it turns out to be a hidden gem. Thus, my curiosity will lead me to a new Restaurant Adventure that I get to share with my readership. This happened a few weeks ago. I was coming back from a cocktail guzzling session at Nara Asian Creations, when I spotted the Iberia Grill, in Greenacres, Florida. From the outside, it is an old-looking building, a place that had been there for several decades. Once you enter, there is an atrium area. There you are greeted by a Portuguese knight. Actually, it is a suit of Portuguese armor, without the knight. As I had come to find out, there is a very large area that is curtained off, containing a dedicated bar, a stage and a dance floor, all set aside for special events and private parties. The main dining area, while much smaller than the party room, comprises of several comfortable wooden tables. But the main attraction was the bar, a comfortably rustic looking old-wood counter that seemed to say, "Welcome, Senhor!" That's where many of the customers seemed to gravitate toward. And that's where I sat. That night, I ordered two glasses of Portuguese red wine from the bartender. The enticing smell of grilled meats permeated the air. And while I was there I met the owner, Carlos, a very hospitable and affable man from Portugal. After I had gotten this nice friendly reception, I just had to come back. On my next trip, I went for lunch. The place was fairly empty. I sat at one of the tables. I was promptly greeted by my food server, who brought me a plate of deliciously briny brown and green olives and some bread. For my first course, I had ordered the Portuguese kale soup. Served as a white broth, it was flavored with sausage, garlic and kale. I next had the clams in white wine and garlic sauce. As soon as I tasted my first of the tiny clams, I knew I had a winner. The broth was not only flavorful, but the clams were perfectly cooked, the meat of the mollusk soft and tender. (Cooking any kind of mollusk perfectly seems to be a rare talent among chefs in general. But apparently not here at the Iberia Grill!) Then when I was done binge eating the clams, I used a big spoon that was provided by my food server to allow me to enjoy the broth as a soup. As my last appetizer, I had Portuguese style spicy potatoes. As I perused the menu for my main course, I had trouble figuring out what was what. I told my food server that I wanted a mixed meat platter. But what I didn't know or realize was that it was a platter for an entire family. It was a generous carnivore's delight of thick slices of grilled pork belly, different kinds of grilled chorizo, grilled beef ribs and chunks of juicy, succulent chicken. It was accompanied by a platter of rice, golden house-made French fries, a bowl of black beans, a bowl of corn and a big side salad of iceberg, tomatoes and onions. So even though I was kind of full from the appetizers, I dug right into this mountain of tasty morsels, feeling very much like that Adam Richman guy from the "Man Versus Food" TV show! I scarfed down as much as I could, before I had to concede defeat. Although way too much food even for me, it provided meals for my wife and I for a several days after. I followed my meat feast with more Portuguese wine and a few shots of a Portuguese liquor called Aguardiente. Different than the anise-flavored Colombian version, the Portuguese version was much more like Italian grappa or Croatian rakija. Yesterday was my latest visit. I started with a prosciutto and manchego cheese plate. Served with tiny pieces of toasted bread, the platter also contained small wedges of brie, preserved figs and marmalade. It was nice to snack on this while sipping my glass of excellent Portuguese red wine. This first appetizer was followed by a plate of octopus vinaigrette. Served as a cold salad of tender, tasty octopus tentacles, raw onions and olives, it was a treat that was very much reminiscent of a dish that I used to enjoy in Croatia, called "Hobotnica Salata." For my main course, I had grilled steak, topped with prosciutto and a tangy brown sauce, sided with sunny-side up fried eggs and a small pile of very yummy homemade potato crisps. After this really delicious meal, I hung out at the bar with a few guys from Portugal and Brazil, where I had a couple (actually several) shots of aguardiente and espresso. It was a great ending to a wonderful Restaurant Adventure! Although I have experienced only three Restaurant Adventures there at the Iberia Grill so far, I like to think that this is only the beginning of my journey. Because I got such good "vibes" from the place, I have hopes that the Iberia Grill will become my new regular hang-out place and get-away. I have so much more of the menu left to explore! The kinda of place that's common in large progressive cities but is a rare experience in our area. Ethnic, exotic, authentic and good. A true dining experience! I had been wanting to visit this place for quite a while, but somehow I would forget about its existence or distance would present itself as an inconvenience. It became a "Wow, I could've had a V8" thing (Old commercial that was popular in the 80's). I'd be seated at a some cookie cutter kinda place and I'd suddenly say to myself "I bet that Portuguese place would have been a much better choice. Well, when I finally visited I was not disappointed. The place is true to its roots. Everything about it transports you to Lisbon. It's somewhat dark inside and has an old world feel. The menu had all the right dishes and we ordered a little bit of everything. We started with the grilled octopus which was fresh and flavorful and an order of fried calamari. The large meat platter highlighted the meal with steak, beef ribs, chicken, pork and chorizo sausages accompanied by potatoes and rice. For desert, I had the homemade flan and it was decadent. Every aspect of this meal, including the service was excellent, a great experience from start to finish. I can't wait to visit this place again. On my next visit I plan to try the Bacalhau (cod, potatoes and onions which is Portugal's national dish). In closing, and not to get on a soapbox with this topic, these are the types of restaurants that make a city or town interesting. We need to support these types of places or we will end up with a dining landscape that only offers the Carrabba's and Outback (Fake food) type of places. Convenience and budget are factors but as "they" say "It only cost a little more to go first class" read more
