Ice garden has been a family favorite ever since I was little. There are shave ice options for everyone, as the menu has a variety of toppings and flavors. Ice garden is my favorite shave ice place ever! The shave ice is always so soft and sweet. The balance of the syrup and ice is always on point. I especially love ordering the #7 with chocolate syrup. The #7 is pudding (flan), milk shave ice with mochi balls. The mochi is so soft and smooth, yet chewy. The custard is super delicious and greatly enhances the shave ice. The custard is definitely my favorite! The chocolate syrup is a nice addition to the milk shave ice too, as it's not too overpowering. Although the service is a bit serious sometimes, I would not describe it as bad. Instead I'd just describe it as neutral and straightforward. Recently I was struggling to figure out how I'd carry 3 shave ice bowls for my friends and I back up the stairs to the Aiea Bowl parking lot without help, and the worker at the window offered me a box to put it in! So even though I feel judged sometimes, I'd say overall the service is still good. The new buzzer system is also helpful. The menu is nice and simple with the pictures in the window, and although it's just window service and you can't eat inside like you used to, I think that's completely fine, as it's nice to enjoy shave ice on a hot day. I highly recommend going to Ice Garden any time you're craving shave ice! Be sure to get da number 7 with chocolate .
I'd rank this spot as above average. I do think the syrup is sweeter than most other places. I had the coconut and guava with ube ice cream and pineapple ($3) which came out to $13. They only take cash and they close at 5pm (closed on Wednesdays). It's a small window to order and there's not an inside area with A/C.
Had to visit this place because we were craving shave ice on a hot day. First of all bring CASH. Lucky I got cash on hand. They have so many options. I was able to share my shave ice with my son, we got the melona with lilikoi and mini mochi balls and custard with ice cream inside. It was yummy!!!! Definitely hit the spot. Yall need to come and check them out .
Hole in the wall spot with the best milk shave ice!! We got the #7 milk shave ice with mochi balls and double pudding. The two of us shared it but I wished I had ordered my own because it was soooo good, especially with the custard pudding. Service was fast. They're cash only. There are some outdoor tables nearby where you can sit and eat. Parking was easy and free.
Located next to McDonald's, in a large shopping plaza. We had the Shaved ice with Half Cotton Candy & Blue Raspberry, with Mochi Balls. Parking can be crowded in these parking garage, but we got a spot on the first floor next to Starbucks. It's just an order window and there are seats in two separate common area in the plaza. They give you a key to the restroom which is located in a separate building. The only negative is the service. The guy was just through the motions and didn't want to answer our questions. Overall, awesome shaved ice from a local business.
Yummy lowkey shave ice spot! I like that they have a large variety of flavors and toppings to try! They have an oatmeal topping that is super interesting and unique to this spot. I quite liked the oatmeal, it was a nice texture and had a good sweetness to it and paired well with the milk shave ice. The pudding topping is also pretty good, but this is the most expensive topping. Still good to try though! This is a walk-up window but there are some outdoor tables nearby that you can sit at. Otherwise there isn't really a designated place to sit to eat. They're also cash only.
Been to ice garden a few times and the pudding is one of the highlights. The ice is pretty fine and they have a lot of syrup and topping options! Service was pretty fast. There usually isn't much of a line. They are cash only tho! Unfortunately their prices just keep going up and while they have a bunch of other pictures with combos there isn't a price listed with the pictures so I didn't really know the cost until I ordered. For my boyfriend and mine 2 shave ice with toppings it was upward of $25 which caught me off guard for just shave ice...
We came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite a long line. My boyfriend and I made our own shave ice with the flavors guava, lilikoi and lychee and added mochi balls and the custard flan on top. We thought the shave ice was ok. The syrups weren't anything special, I think we had better flavor syrups at other shave ice spots. The mochi balls were average as well but the custard flan was really good! It was pretty pricey as well for one shave ice with toppings. We didn't think it was really worth the long wait too. At least the custard flan was yummy so glad we got to try it out!
I ordered the lychee and melons shaved ice with mochi and custard and it was so good. Everything was refreshing and not overly sweet. The custard was a surprisingly good pairing with the shaved ice. Prices are reasonable and service was quick. Just a heads up, it's CASH ONLY. It's a bit tricky to find. We parked in the grocery store lot on the lower level and took the escalator up. Look for the small order window. Definitely worth the hunt.
What a great find! We were at Keiki Kingdom with our grandkids and told them we would go get shave ice after. I did a quick search and the first spot was in the mall so we skipped it and came to Ice Garden. We got there and saw the line and knew it must be a hot spot. When we saw the first order come out everyone's eyes lit up. We searched the menu and picked out our choices. It was fantastic! I usually get a snowcap but they have milk ice here and it reminds me of the homemade snow ice cream I make back home. Delicious! Mine was topped with tapioca and custard. The boy taking my order asked if I wanted one or two custards. I said one but let me tell you I wish I would have said two!! So good. My grandson got strawberry shave ice with mochi balls and vanilla ice cream and a custard topper. He ate it all. The other two shared a cherry and blue raspberry combo. The bowls were nice sized. Every bit was eaten. We will definitely hit this spot again.
Where the ingredients from East meets West form a bond of consistently smooth, fine shave ice creations. Craved for a cool dessert considering humidity in the afternoon. Was it worth the wait of driving around one way for shaded parking 20 mins on a humid day? Yes. Was it worth my time spending every cent on delectable and edible creation? Absolutely! Was it worth leaving a tip for the hardworking and grateful staff? You bet! Was it worth my time and effort of standing in line? Heck yeah! Some chose to consume their preferred shave ice on rectangular and round tables outside within walking distance. While others indulged in the comfort of their vehicles. I loved how the consistency of fine and smooth shave ice with milk flavor took a long time to melt. #5 with double custard or taro, milk flavor, mochi balls, double custard tasted fabulous and refreshing! Not too sweet! Not too heavy with regard to milk flavor taste and tummy feeling great! Every single millimeter was covered with multiple flavors. I'm able to order a different creation with every future visit. Cash triumphed all other methods of payment. Some creations will run out quicker midway through the afternoon. I will not feel bored and find numerous choices fun with the plethora of flavors.
Been wanting to try their shaved ice but they've been closed for so long. Finally got a chance to eat here and their shaved ice is super fine!! Was told to order the custard as well and it was the best recommendation! Custard has great flavor!! Definitely glad they reopened so I was able to taste their delicious cool snack on this hot summer day. read more

Not sure why this place had a long line and wait. The ice was nice and fluffy but the flavors were too artificial and sweet. Wasn't enjoyable. Also both of our shaved ice didn't have enough syrup to penetrate so we were left with a lot of unflavored ice. No seating is available inside so you'll be sitting outside on some benches. If it's hot then it's gonna be unpleasant. read more

Wish I found out about this place sooner on my Hawaii trip because it's so good!!! The ice melts in your mouth and there were no chunky parts, which I loveee. I got the passion fruit and guava flavors with cream on it, and the flavors were delicious, but if I could come back again, I would get #7. I tried my friend's and wow... speechless. I didn't think flan would go with shaved ice but it does surprisingly. I recommend getting #7 because you can't find something like that at other shaved ice places! read more

I heard that Ice Garden had opened up again and was so excited to come back. Eating here brought back memories from high school! They're still located in the same spot, which is right below Aiea Bowl by McDonalds. This place is CASH only, or there is an ATM nearby. Service was really friendly and the owner warmly greeted us. They have a variety of pre-set shave ice options along with pictures to help you choose. Their prices are not written on these photos, but there's a small white paper posted on the wall near the register if you want to see their prices. I ordered their #7 which had two custard puddings with milk shave ice and mochi balls. Their pudding is so creamy and their mochi balls are sooo good! Their portions aren't huge, but it's just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a cool treat! read more

At the recommendation of my sis, my bf and I finally tried their oatmeal topping = DELICIOUSLY UNIQUE, but now we know that next time we need to get it with the milk shave ice to better balance the sweetness of the oatmeal. And of course, we also had to get our usual vanilla ice cream, mochi balls, and their signature homemade custard. Definitely recommend! read more

This was my first time trying out this place! It wasn't anything to be super hyped about. Although the shave ice did taste good. But it wasn't the greatest. I got the rainbow shave ice with condensed milk and ice cream, however I didn't really taste the condensed milk. The shave ice is decently priced. The owners on the other hand were really nice and friendly. I would go there again, maybe try a different flavor this time! read more

This place has been in this location for many, many years. The two older ladies that used to own the shop aren't there anymore, but their nephew and his family still take a lot of pride in providing a high quality product (like the original owners). My son always gets 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 plain with ice cream. I'm kinda boring and always get the rainbow with Mochi balls on top. My wifey always gets the halo halo and I always say "I'm going to get that next time!", but I always get the same ol', same ol'. Ha ha! There are other shave ice places nearby but their syrup is too sweet for me. Ice Garden's shave is easy to eat (soft) and their syrup is just right (not too sweet). Highly recommend this place for shave ice on a hot day. Grab a wooden bench inside the air conditioned hallway just outside the shop and enjoy this icey treat! This is the perfect dessert after eating lunch at the Alley Restaurant. And, yes, don't forget that this place is cash only. read more

What a great place to go on a hot day or if your looking for something refreshing. Shave ice is always a great choice. I tried strawberry with vanilla ice cream, mochi balls and custard. OMG I love the custard!! I highly recommend getting any flavor and adding custard. Service was really good too. The couple working there is really friendly. read more
Trying so hard to up my review count, I am resorting to digging deeeeep into my photo archives, obviously! Either I need fresh ideas for reviews or I need to branch out and visit more new and exciting places... I've been visiting this shaved ice shop for about a decade now since I found out about it. Because I'm a West sider, I never have been fond of driving to the North Shore side for shaved ice. Especially when I'm not even a huge shaved ice lover to begin with. So, annually since I have to bring my children to their Dr's visits right across the street, this has been their "shots treat". It's not only when they have their physicals that we stop in. It's definitely a great snack to have during the summer heat to cool down. The things that can be tricky with visits and enjoying your treat is sometimes parking sucks and sometimes finding a seat is really tough. I don't know about you, but kids standing up with shaved ice is not anywhere near a bright idea. Inside the tiny shop there are a few stools to sit at but not much room being that it's also the space to order. There are also benches outside but because the building has other offices, the benches might not be empty. The great things about this place is that the shaved ice is nice and fine how I like, the prices are unbelievably reasonable, and the toppings are awesome! They have your standard syrup flavors but the toppings are what make it for me. Custard pudding, taro and mochi are normally the ones we choose but I know there are many other variations of toppings you could get. As far as I can see there have mainly been 2 older ladies working this shop. Out of how ever many choices there are on the menu, they both know all orders by heart. Throw any number at them and they'll make it at the drop of a dime (more like 50 or so lol). I haven't been back lately but I know it's just a matter of time. I'm not sure if they have set operating hours but I know I have come in the past on random occasion and they've been closed for whatever reason. I know the ladies are elderly so I just chock it up to them being sick or what not. I just make sure never to go out of my way to visit to prevent being disappointed. I've been coming to this shave ice place since I was in high school. Although I miss the other ladies that ran the place, the customer service now is much friendlier and it is so much easier to communicate. I ordered my usual - strawberry shaved ice with azuki beans, mochi balls, and vanilla ice cream. Same great taste, but less shaved ice. Parking is also tight on the weekends especially because many of the stalls are taken by Aiea Bowl, so watch out for league days. Would've give it 4 1/2 stars but cannot so went down to 4 because of the amount given and the parking. read more

Had the Halo Halo with tapioca and custard! It was full of tapioca, young coconut, milk shaved ice, ube ice cream, creamy delicious custard, rice crispy and more. It cost $11.50, a bit pricey but I would get it again! I shared it with my sister because it's big, way too much for me to eat alone. Looking forward to sharing other flavors! read more

We tried the popular # 7 - shaved ice topped with sweetened condensed milk, a few mochi balls and pudding (leche flan). Ice Garden is my favorite shave ice place because not only is their shave ice delicious, but so are the toppings they offer. I love, love their mochi and pudding. I have yet to try a place that has better mochi and pudding. You can also get ice cream, azuki bean, taro, condensed milk and much more! The shave ice comes in one size, but with the extra toppings, the shave ice can run you $6+. The little old lady making your shave ice will also take your money and not wash her hands in between. But the risk of getting sick is totally worth it and watching the little old lady make your shave ice will make you want to give her all your money anyway. read more

Not sure if anyone remembers Gems but these two Cantonese ladies are the original owners from way back when. My dad took me there 25 years ago. The shave ice has never changed still the same homemade goodness. Prices are reasonable. Always a long line but so worth it! Get the pudding/flan thing it's so yummy and I also recommend the Mochi balls, Tapioca, oatmeal, omg now I'm drooling need to drive there pronto. read more

3.5 stars If you're from Aiea, then you know this is the place to go on a hot day! It's located on the second floor in Aiea Shopping Center. It's not the soft Waiola type or the ice junk type at Matsumoto's. I don't know how to describe it but their shave ice tastes like the kind you get at the crack seed store in the old days. I remember coming here years ago when I was in high school and it was run by two older ladies. I always wondered how did they do it since the place is always busy and when I say older, I mean older than your grandma! But they were so cute and sweet. I haven't been here in years but recently came back. I didn't see the two ladies, it looks like they now have different owners. The menu and flavors are the same, except now they have milk tea and the prices are significantly higher. They are Cash Only. They have a photo menu so you can order by number, but they don't have prices listed. We got two shave ice with ice cream and mochi balls, one with pudding and it was about $13. What I like about this place are the toppings. They have condensed milk, Azuki beans and mochi balls but they have unique toppings like taro and pudding you don't see at other places. The syrups are ok, but nostalgic for some of us. I do really like their homemade mochi balls. Ive been coming to Ice Garden for over two decades now and they still manage to be my favorite. Business is now run by the original owners nephew, and the service is still amazing. Theyve upgraded their shave ice machine but they still provide one of the finest shaved ice. My favorite go to is #15 with pudding. Which is Lihing with mochi balls and a custard pudding cup on top. So happy they're still open during the pandemic. I usually get the #7 (milk ice w/ mochi and custard), but wanted to try something different. So I got the #30 (milk ice, oatmeal, chocolate, and custard). I'm not usually a chocolate fan, but this was the perfect blend and wasn't too sweet. read more

I've been going to this place since forever! Never fails. They have the most delicious toppings and the shave ice is so soft and smooth. I like #29, my kids like #7, but I can't say which is the best because no matter which one you chose I promise you won't be disappointed. They only take cash, so keep that in mind. Parking can be an issue depending the time of day you go. There isn't much seating, so be aware of that. Owners are friendly and prior to covid 19 they'd give you free thai tea while you wait. I love this place, always have and always will. Been going here for 20 years and now I've introduced my kids to this place!!! read more

Have been coming to this place for years!! It was originally owned by these two Chinese grandmas/sisters! They were the cutest and always worked so hard! I believe it is now owned by their nephew? Either way their shaved ice is always on point! They do have set prices now (which is new from the older owners and it used to vary each time lol) which is fairly decent in pricing. My favorite is usually the #25 but when I'm craving the extra sugar, I'll get a strawberry shaved ice with ice cream! Oh and the add ons: mochi balls, pudding, and the evaporated milk. In my opinion, this place has the best mochi balls hands down! They are tiny, chewy, balls of deliciousness which compliment the strawberry syrup and milk. Perfect for a hot day or if you're around the aiea side! read more
