    Shave ice! Pineapple, coconut, lychee!

Review #500! Baldwin's is one of the only shave ice places that still feels like a mom-and-pop shop! Lots of other places feel like they're just churning things out, but Baldwin's gives you a friendly and memorable feel from childhood. They serve great shave ice (or ice shave if you're from Big Island like me). There's an aunty who stands outside and takes your order, and in a few minutes, your shave ice is ready. And there's a tent to provide some shade so you're not waiting in the hot sun. Prices are affordable, taste is ono, and the portions are big. You can also go in the store to buy crack seed, candies, and freeze dried goodies. I volunteer at a farm nearby, so Baldwin's is always an essential stop after a hard day's work!

We used to come to Baldwin's Sweet Shop frequently whenever we came to Oahu. We haven't the previous times visiting, so it was nice to drop in today. Good to see that they are still around and busy as usual. Sweets, Crackseed, & Shaved Ice.

Three and a half stars for me. Wanted some shaved ice after some Cajun food and came here. Wasn't my first time, however I never remember to Yelp it in time. They have an assortment of candies and local goodies inside as well as shaved ice to order in the front. Staff is very nice and it's pretty good. The prices, well, all prices have gone up and this is no business' fault but everyone has to make a living. If you do pay with credit card there is a 3% surcharge to your total so if you don't want that, pay in cash! The ambiance reminds me of a mom and pop shop so, excellent.

I have been a lifelong patron of Baldwin's Sweet Shop from the 80s! My grandma would bring me here at least once a week. I love this place so much. They've moved from one end of Waimalu shopping center to the other in my lifetime, but their ambiance and customer service have never changed. I love this local, family owned business. They are top tier, 100%, no ka 'oi ALL THE TIME! I'm a big fan of the snacks and seeds: dried lemon peel, li hing mui, and arare, but a HARD CORE STAN on the plain vanilla and coke shave ice! It hits the spot!!! The ice is shaved so fine. It's 'onolicious. It does not disappoint EVER. I recommend you visit here once if you've never been. You'll be a fan. They have a ton of flavor options and if my family of 8 can find their favorite flavors and toppings/add ons... so can you!

I'm a fan of this little Shave Ice Shop. I sometimes wonder if they're even open but if I'm in the Waimalu strip mall I will stop and pick up some of their crack seed or cookies or a shave ice. This is a very small shop, two workers behind the counter and only open six hours a day. A lot of their crack seed is under their own label and cheaper than other places. I usually come in for the root beer shave ice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The prices are lower than most but the quality and variety is the same to me. They are in between Chun Wah Kam and the corner ZIPPYS which is temporarily closed. Parking in the strip mall lot and I've never had trouble finding a spot. If you're in the area it's an old school place that deserves a try. Only open Wednesday through Sunday.

Located in the Waimalu Shopping Center, this shave ice and snack shop has been here for decades. A family run business for decades making da' best shave ice on the island. I miss the days of the iconic shave ice cone where the head falls off if you are a newbie. But the cup design makes sure nothing is lost in this refreshing treat. This is a takeout shop, so there's no seating or place to enjoy your shave ice or snacks. Service team is super friendly like a local owned family shop should be. I've been coming here for decades and will continue the come here as often as I can.

Walking into this store makes me feel like a kid again! Baldwin's has been around since 1978. The store offers one of the best shave ice on the west side of Oahu, and just about every local Hawaiian snack that you can imagine! Let's talk about their shave ice first. They've had 45 years to perfect it and they certainly have it dialed in. There are 4 sizes to choose from: keiki, small, large and pounder - all reasonably priced. The shave ice is fluffy like snow! They have at least 40 different flavors - some are unique local flavors such as cracked seed, blue Hawaii, ube, pog and even ume! They also have toppings such as mochi, azuki beans and snow cap, as well as creative toppings such as lemon peel powder and li hing powder! I always get the small rainbow with snow cap. I know... boring! But it's so refreshing on a nice hot day. If shave ice isn't enough, they have a huge inventory of snacks! There are rows and rows of seeds, candies, gummies and chocolates, to cookies, dried fruits, arare, senbei, peanuts and misc items like smoked tako, rolled ika and teriyaki marlin! They're conveniently located in the Waimalu shopping center in Aiea, where many other restaurants are located, which makes it a nice place to stop by after your meal. There's a shared parking lot, but it does fill up quickly during peak hours. Baldwin's is open Wed.-Sat. 11am-5pm, Sun. 11am-4pm and closed on Mon. & Tues. This is a must-stop for great shave ice and local snacks!

I don't know because everytime I stop by it seems they're closed. But, have been here before since we were kids over 30 years ago.

My cousin gave me some Lemon Strips to try that was bought here at Baldwin's. It was sweet and not salty at all so I liked it. Since we went to a restaurant close by, decided to buy a bag for me and my sister who lives in the mainland. There was another type of Lemon Strip with the same name so I also bought that one for my sister to try. As I was browsing, I found a Sweet Seedless White LiHing Mui...decided to buy that one for me. When I got home and took a picture, I then saw that the seedless one was $9.99 for only a 4 oz. bag...that's $40 a pound! Geesh, if I caught that, I wouldn't have bought it! Don't think I ever saw a li hing mui this expensive! I opened it to see if there was anything special...nope, nothing special so am I missing something here that justifies the outrageous price or was it maybe priced wrong? I usually go to a store in Chinatown "Wing Cheong" to buy this awesome seed named Seedless Sugar Plum for $18 a pound and I thought that was pricey. The plum one tastes sooooo much better than the two I bought for me (shown below)! Hopefully, my sister will like both Lemon Strips. I did find out that Baldwin's also sell shaved ice so we ordered 2. My husband and I did enjoy it so we'll be back for this but not the seeds. FYI: They accept credit card but will charge you a 3.7% fee so bring cash if you don't want to pay extra!

We love Baldwin's!! Small hole in the wall located in Waimalu shopping center. Closed Mon-Tues & open rest of week from 11-5. As soon as we walked up, we were immediately greeted & orders taken. Their shave ice is delicious! They are generous on their portions, the syrups are tasty & the shave ice is fine.

I've been coming here for decades and they have a great following in the Aiea-Pearl City area. Every neighborhood should have a family business like Baldwin's for their favorite snacks and some excellent shaved ice. Whenever I am at Waimalu Shopping Center I always stop by to see if some of my favorites are in stock. If you avoid the lunchtime crowd, which can be a challenge to find parking at the shopping center, it is worth checking the store because there will be something for everyone guarantee.

i just got a plain blue Hawaiian flavor with vanilla ice cream, im a picky eater and i loved this, they were really nice, they have plenty of stuff, go check it out !

Seems like shave ice is what people come here for, because they have a guy up outside just to take shave ice orders. My kids ordered two cups while I went inside to check out their candy selection. Lots and lots to choose from! They have my all time favorite gummies - Haribo Gummy Strawberries. Their prices are reasonable as compared to another snack shop in town that I have been frequenting. Too bad Baldwin's is so far from my home and work place (maybe that's a good thing - ha!). Good place to buy omiyage!

For diabetic reasons, does anyone know how much carbs is in a single gummi bear? Is it maybe 1-2g each? There is no nutritional info on their packaging and need to find out for my daughter who is Type 1.

For diabetics, the best bet is sugar free gummy bears. No sugar and no carbs, and they taste exactly like regular gummies. Longs Drugs sometimes sells them in their sugar free candy section. If not, Amazon offers a bunch to choose from. Enjoy!

They're a small kiosk inside Pearlridge, right next to TJ Maxx. There's usually a few minute wait since the popcorn is made fresh to order and there's only one employee, but it's definitely worth the wait! So far I've only tried the volcano, which is a hurricane mix with kakimochi and furikake. The popcorn is always crisp and evenly buttered with the perfect kakimochi ratio. They have 3 size options - you'll want to get the large because they're so good you could finish half the bag in one sitting. I had a friend try some of my popcorn a few days later and was surprised with how fresh it still tasted! In his words he said it was "to die for" lol.
