I stopped by for a late lunch yesterday while working in Florence. They have a $6.95 lunch special. The special comes with a choice of pork fried rice or steamed rice. You then pick an entrée from large list of items. I had the Mongolian chicken which was rather tasty. The pork fried rice was as good as any other standard Chinese pork fried rice. The lunch special also comes with a spring roll and two crab puffs along with your choice of soup or salad. The portion was large and quite filling. I will definitely be back again to try another entrée. read more

I had the house special and it was $ 10 for a huge plate . i had plenty for leftovers. Food was fresh and came out at a nice temp. The hot tea is good and so is the soup. Wait, good Chinese/Japanese food in Florence? Really? We were skeptical, but my husband was up for Chinese, and I'm always up for sushi, so Ichiban it was! The place looked a little forlorn, all empty on a Saturday night (8pm or so), but we went in anyway and were promptly seated by a very friendly server. We went for a mixture of Chinese (some kind of mixed meats dish), and a variety of sushi rolls. The result truly surprised us! My husband liked his dish a lot, everything seemed very fresh compared to what you usually get in Eugene Chinese restaurants. The meats were prepared well and tender, and the seasoning was unusually flavorful. Apparently they don't use MSG, and must compensate by adding more depth of flavor through spices. And that strategy pays off, we were impressed! The sushi was well prepared, came out quickly, and tasted fresh with well balanced flavor combinations. They had a good selection of typical American type sushi, regular nigiri and such, and some unique roll combinations. We'll admit that we laughed a little when we saw them advertise "freshest sushi in town", because as far as we know it's the only Japanese restaurant in town, but hey, their sushi was indeed very fresh! The only thing that was a little bit underwhelming was the egg flower soup. It came beautifully presented in a square box, with a lot of tasty looking egg inside, but ultimately we found it to be a little on the bland side. (I was secretly wishing for some MSG) I would definitely come back for more. And since we got some kind of scratch card that revealed a free cucumber roll, we'll have to go redeem that on our next trip to Florence. We highly recommend giving this place a try, it's probably the main reason we look forward to coming to Florence again. And not just because I loooove scratch cards. read more

Just ate at the new location. To start, the silverware was dirty. The waitress came promptly but was so abrupt and unfriendly that we would have appreciated her not putting in an appearance at all. Over the course of the meal she only came to check on us once and we had to search for her to pay our bill at the end of the meal. All of this when the restaurant was almost empty. About the meal. Mongolian beef, California roll, special yakisoba. The Mongolian beef was so salty that my wife couldn't eat any of the meat and picked at the onions and bell peppers. She gave up after about ten minutes and abandoned the plate as a lost cause. Furthermore, the cook had used so much monosodium glutamate (MSG) that my better half now has a raging headache, and she usually doesn't have this problem with MSG. The yakisoba wasn't much better. The meat was overcooked (rubber chicken and shrimp) and the whole thing was awash with some strange sauce featuring lots of sugar, curry, and MSG. I tried to save it by disguising it with some chili sauce with some success, but any time that I need to resort to that sort of tactic isn't a good outing. The one bright spot was the California roll. Expertly crafted and rolled with just the right amount of rice on the outside and then sprinkled with fish roe (something that I had never seen before). If we ever go back, it will just be for the sushi and the other side of the menu will be ignored. In defense of this restaurant, we did not complain and give the cook a chance to fix his mistakes. Had a large dinner with my husband here on our honeymoon. We liked the variety on the menu, especially the sushi. We order soups: egg flower and miso, both good and up to par with others we have had. We also ordered the appetizer platter and got a little of everything: tempora prawns, bbq pork with a nice spicy mustard, egg rolls, crab angels, and gyoza pot stickers, all came with a sweet and sour sauce to dip. A PARTY OF 10, room was prepared for our arrival. Waitress was considerate. We all ordered but orders were spaced up to 20 min. apart. First 6 meals, then 2 meals, then 10 min later 2 more. I am hoping this was due to lack of the proper help for a large order. I am rating my order of tempura, spider rolls and spicy tuna just OK. After we ate we were introduced to their bar, we should have sat in there to eat, the wait would have been moire fun. We will try some other places before returning for a late lunch. My husband and I got takeout. It was one of the worst meals we have had in a very long time. I usually love all the meals we get. This one was so bland and had no flavors. I don't know who was cooking tonight but they forgot how to make anything taste good. This place is solid! Huge portions, incredibly low prices and great service. Their honey chicken is devoured by all 4 of my kids before I can stab a piece. The rice is cooked well. I didn't like the subgum at all, but that is really hard dish to get right (in my opinion). It is usually too gooey, as theirs was. Texture was a bit off. The Salem Roll is another family favorite, as is the soup. Every time we head to Florence, I request to head here for lunch. I can feed my family of 6 for under $40, no joke. read more

We ate there for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered a California Roll, shrimp lo mein, orange chicken and started with crab puffs. Large portions. The crab puffs might be the best I've ever had. This place is pretty good for a quick meal. Service is fast and friendly. It's very casual dining but quiet and comfortable. The food is good. It's a Chinese/Japanese place so neither genre is going to be "the best ever", but they manage to cover both styles well enough that you won't be disappointed no mater which one you want. If you must find something to complain about, the spicy dishes could be spicier, the breaded prawns were done tempura style only, and they don't have any curry dishes. But overall a good place to eat. We went there twice on our most recent visit and both nights were very good and well worth the price. read more

Two over filled large plates with way more food than we could eat and I am a big guy Price was really good at $10.00 each and I could tell they cooked the veggies fresh as they were crunchy Over all the place was clean, great service and lots of food for the price. The nigiri here is always amazing. A little spendy, but you get what you pay for. $4.75 for a set normally unless you hit the sushi happy hour on Sunday from 3-5pm. Then it's $3.75 every order of nigiri (2 fillets on rice). I've never had anything else. Very clean tasting. I always eat the salmon and it never has any hint of 'fish' flavor. Was an okay place to stop while we were passing through town. The sushi chef was apparently on vacation for the week so there was no sushi on the menu and the food was baseline pretty expensive for the quality. I ordered the bento 5 and it was probably an okay bento at best. The food felt really greasy and fried and the tempura veggies tasted a bit fishy. Perfect timing. We were all hungry but how do you please three people with such picky tastes with food? Ichiban! Japanese, Chinese and Sushi! We have never been to another restaurant which has all three under the same roof. We all choose our favorites. Little Miss Picky ordered her Chicken and Lo Mein, "Very tender!" Mr. Picky ordered something hot and spicy... I can't even go there. He also ordered surf clams and said they were, "Very fresh!" I enjoyed the sushi, Salmon and Tuna! Also melt in your mouth fresh, clean and delicious. Can't wait to return. We've driven past Ichbans so many times while traveling 101 but we all agreed we shall no longer past them; we will stop and have our favorites. read more

Really wanted to like this place. Instead, very disappointed. Miso soup was too salty to even eat; egg drop wasn't much better. The only difference between the Orange Chicken and the Kung Pau Chicken was the color of the sauce - and a bit of artificial orange flavor in the sauce. The chicken itself in both dishes was tasteless and both had way too much sauce. The egg roll was greasy and flavorless as well. My husband's meal arrived 10 minutes before mine. Even the fortune cookies had no flavor and were stale. The only reason for 2 stars is portion size - more than we could eat. read more

New to the area, my neighbor took me to lunch at Ichiban for sushi, and May made us the white tuna hand rolls. I was absolutely amazed at how tremendously delicious they were and actually ordered another. Honestly, they are so good,so fresh, so well seasoned, that I think about them for days afterward. I cannot speak for the other menu items, but the white hand rolls? To die for. May was professionally trained as a sushi master in Japan....and it shows. Well done! Arigato! read more

Moved here from San Diego so I wasn't sure how the sushi would compare. I'm so pleasantly surprised. I ordered the volcano roll and it's amazing! The salmon and tuna in top is very fresh with that nice buttery texture. The service is so friendly as well. It's a bit on the pricey side for this little town but no more than I'd expect to pay in California. Looking forward to bringing hubby here so we can order more than one roll. read more
