Food was ok - tasty, the usual Chinese combo lunch flavors but a bit too greasy for me, enormous portions and reasonable prices. Service was quite good, waitress sweet, atmosphere comfortable. I'm from out of state and was staying in a hotel near this restaurant for the night, so I decided to get food to go. Their menu is extensive, so there is plenty to choose from. The combination of Chinese and Japanese food allowed for nice variety in my dinner. I called my order in, and the man taking it was very nice and made sure everything was correct. The food was ready quickly (10 minutes), and put into a box to make transport easy. The food was delicious and servings were generous for the price! Absolutely love it here, great selection of dishes . The sushi is excellent. Best I have had outside of the bigger city's. Service is always good, even when they are busy. I have been to many japanese/chinese restraunts and Ichiban is high on my list of favorites, the prices are extremely fair, the portion size is huge (i had the Beef Yakisoba and had to get a to go box, which made me pleased) the food tastes great, and the sushi is good as well (i had the Unagi roll). When i return to Florence next year i'll definitely be returning to Ichiban Restaurant to eat! read more

We Came for dinner and were extremely underwhelmed. We had great expectations after reading the reviews. I was amazed that so many people thought highly of Ichiban. This place is a Chinese restaurant definitely not Japanese. The fish was not fresh. Our illustrious server told us that the tuna was frozen, as we suspected by the odd pink color and off texture. Our rolls were sloppy and not rolled well they fell apart when you would try and eat them. They use a lot of rice which was very bland. Price was average but food was below average. Flavors were very bland and lacking any appealing presentation. Service was slow. I can't say we will be back. The crowd seemed pretty trashy and I felt like we were at a fast food restaurant, our table was sticky and the soy sauce containers were gross! We did not finish our food and decided to grab a bite in Old Town at one of the nice places...very glad we changed course. read more

Stopped by here for lunch today and was very disappointed. I was expecting it to be great since they have some great reviews! Shared the Kung pao chicken and California roll with a friend. The Cali roll was good but the Kung pao chicken was pretty bad, didn't like the sauce at all. Service wasn't great either, didn't even get refill on my water... Probably won't come back, if I do it I will only order sushi. read more

Best sushi I've had in my life. Created by a female sushi chef. It was perfect. Perfectly formed with the rice as a low-key background to the toppings. This was done by skillfully cutting back on the sugar and vinegar content. Such a wide variety of high quality food. For God's sake they had tempura-ed soft shell blue crab from the Chesapeake Bay! I used to live on that Bay and I never had such fresh well-executed soft shelled crab. What a rare treat! If the woman sushi chef is working, try the caterpillar roll. read more

Serviceable Japanese food. As with many places serving multiple Asian cuisines, execution is a bit confused. Tempura was tasty but batter not really tempura, more like any deep fry batter. Wow! Our meals were wonderful! Very fresh veggies, excellent flavors, great service, servings are quite large, and it's clean! The sizzling triple mushroom meal I asked to have without the chicken, which they obliged, and it was delicious. My husband had shrimp lo mein and it was also very good. We were driving by and happened to see the restaurant and could park our trailer close by. We walked in and saw the specials listed. It sounded good so we each ordered a special so we could share. The special was $10.00. We got our meals and they were huge. The rice was great, the bbq pork was outstanding, the shrimp was fantastic. Everything was really special. I have never seen such an enormous mound of bland food in my life !! Cleary says on menu that they would substitute soup for additional charge , which i was more than willing to pay . But when i asked i was told no they would not ??? It felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there . My husband who is not a picky eater took one bite and spit it out immediately. We read the good reviews and decided to give Ichiban a try while staying in Florence. We were warmly greeted at the door and seated immediately. We had just missed the lunch hour menu choices/specials,so we took some time to review the extensive menu. Ichiban has something for everyone - a wide variety of beautifully prepared sushi, as well as an extensive selection of both chinese and japanese cuisine. We were happy to see that the menu includes a Senior Meals section. For $6.95 we could get our choice of hot and sour soup or egg flower soup, salad, and our choice of two different entrees from the ample list. The salad and soups were all delicious, and our entrees were so plentiful we each couldn't finish all of it. All the food was very fresh, equisitely prepared, politely and attentively served, and all at the bargain price of $6.95. The tempura is delish, and I really enjoyed my pork chow mein. We would definitely dine at Ichiban again. The food, service, and prices are great! read more
