I've been coming to icicles ever since they open the one in San Jose ! I was super excited to find out they had open one near my house , so today me and my friend decided to treat ourselves to our favorite ice cream , and let me just say WOW the guy(young Asian with a combover) that made my ice cream made it sooo freaking perfect and rolled it up sooo quickly. After a nice dinner, decided to take my family for ice cream and found ICICLES close to where we were. Was very impressed with the ice cream, but very disappointed in the poor business model and service. Waited in line for 30 minutes before we reached the cashier to order and pay for our ice creams. There were only less than a half dozen people in front of us. Waited another 10 minutes before my name was called. The blond short-haired girl started making the ice cream and asked what I wanted mixed in. I said almonds and caramel; she said I could not have almonds because her station was a "nuts free" station and made me feel as though I should not get almonds since she had already started making the ice cream. I don't know why she assumed that. I insisted that I wanted almonds because that's what I wanted. So she scraps the order and tells the Asian young man to make my ice cream. The Asian kid who was wrapping up my wife's order, started making another customer's ice cream and told me to wait when in fact I was next and he knew that. This really upset me and I told them to cancel my order because I did not want to wait another 10 minutes before someone decided to make my ice cream. I was completely ignored. I honestly felt like punching this kid in the face but I am glad I did not. He finally made my ice cream, and I got it after my wife had already finished hers. I will NOT return to this place again because to wait 40 minutes to get a couple of scoops of ice cream, get pressured to have something other than what you want, get the silent treatment attitude, and get tempted to physically assault someone is just not worth it. read more

Kind of obsessed with his place! It is so fun to watch them roll up your ice cream right in front of you. It's always busy in there so if you want something quick, in and out, then this isn't for you. But you'd be missing out. Once u finally place your order (took 10min or more to have someone go to the register) then be ready to wait 30 min for your ice cream!! I've never been here before. We paid nearly $20 for two ice creams and then...we waited and waited. We finally asked one of the kids running the place how long we'd have to wait. Another 20 mins? He just looked at me and said "more". 30? Probably. After half an hour we got our rolled ice cream. My wife took a bite and said it was the worst ice cream she ever had. It's probably a good gimmick for the kids who like to watch the ice cream being rolled. But it's a long wait combined with expensive ice cream which isn't very good. Not worth the trouble. We could have bought a pint of Talenti at Safeway for a lot less hassle and money and enjoyed it in less time than it takes to roll some ice cream. read more

This place is great. I love the creaminess of the ice cream and the toppings are great my kids loved it too. My only complaint is It's a little hard to eat with the flimsy plastic spoons but it works. Maybe it would be better served with chop sticks or something. Went there last Saturday night & waited a little over an hour start to finish. Inside was insane. It was a little too much of a sensory overload for me & my kids. Very loud, people yelling, it's kinda confusing how it's set up. No direction. You order with the cashier, he asks your name & then you wait to hear your name called, that is-you wait for every one of your name to be called if you ordered more than 1. My daughters got lost for about 3 orders behind us til they finally called her. My daughter went to the website and asked for about 3-4 different ideas listed on the website and the cashier guy had no clue what they were or they were out of it so she got something pretty plain but liked it. At the end we were barked at by 2 girls trying to get my kids toppings and we were so confused on what they could have and what they couldn't that it was frustrating for us. It's expensive so only my 3 kids got it because I don't spend $40 on ice cream. My daughter made a cool snapchat video on it and probably got them some more customers but we won't be back until it dies down and the employees are more up to date. read more

A group of us showed up to get ice cream at 11:20 when they close at 11:30pm and an employee told us it was too late for them to make our ice cream and we had to leave while other customers were still sitting and eating their ice cream. very disappointing. read more

Nothing better than fresh made ice cream. You can actually taste the difference. Even went back and tried the non dairy pink lemonade. They make it in front of you that if fun to watch, you pick all the topping you can want. The lines can get long esp if very hot. You can even get a free ice cream on your birthday. Not the place for those with allergies. Although all the signs seem cheery and totally accommodating towards allergies, this place was anything but. I thought I'd try it on a slow evening since the allergy-thing tends to go over poorly when places are slammed. Placed my order. Watched as everyone in front of me got their orders. Watched as three people BEHIND me got their orders. Then watched as they shut down an entire machine to clean it. Watched as five more people got their orders. Finally got my ice cream made. Then the woman threw it over on the "toppings" counter and walked away. It sat there for about three minutes before I finally got the attention of one of the milling/chatting staff to get my toppings. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they understand the concept of allergies and are trying; a clean work area is a must. Clean utensils were great. When they mixed the utensils with the non clean ones, it totally defeated the purpose. And then it took so long, it wasn't even worth it. My 5 year old was happy because she got the full ice cream. My husband was happy because he walked down to the Pleasanton Dairy, got his soft serve, ate it in the park, then walked to join us just as we were finally getting our ice cream (he won the race, right!!). Moral of the story: they have good ice cream, poor service, and shouldn't cater to people that have allergies if they don't actually have the capabilities (really, we don't mind if you're just honest). read more
