funny enough i was contemplating the rise and fall of the rolled ice cream trend earlier today. got dinner with a friend and he wanted ice cream after so we came here. it's exactly what you'd expect. toppings seem to be unlimited. we should not have been trusted with this much power, we created an abomination. liked the mochi though. we ordered on an ipad, there was only one staff member diligently making ice creams - he was nice! there's maybe 3 tables to sit at inside.
Cute, very hidden but definitely a diffrent experience. My daughter and loved it. So good totally chill, good service.
went here last Sunday to have an ice cream! This was the closest ice cream which was walking distance from where we stayed! The one we usually go to ran out of base so we walked down to mission st! I ended up getting wake me up which was hazelnut coffee with pretzels and I forgot what else I got because they didn't have waffle pieces We went to have a seats inside their shop and finished our ice cream there Best alternative to the place we usually go to on Sutter call Ma but it would've been nice even though the sign said no indoor dining that the floor was tidied up at the least
Me and my girlfriend were out walking around downtown last night. Decided we wanted something sweet so I recommended icicles and ordered the strawberry fantasy It was really good and flavorful and finished.
I always get ice cream from here since Icicles is one of my favorite ice cream shops... but compared to the San Mateo location, this store is always very slow even if it's not a busy time. We waited for our order, then they missed one of our orders, then by the time we called the order up, they said they missed it and they even ran out of the topping I wanted for my ice cream. Some customers are just waiting in line, and the workers are just nowhere to be found...
Icicles is one of my favorite dessert places in the Bay Area. I love the unique way they create ice cream and roll them up kind of like sushi. The ice cream has a smooth creamy texture. I especially love the selection of toppings that's available that can add your own flavor to this amazing treat. Be sure to visit when you get a chance.
It's pricey but it's the rolled ice cream experience you're paying for really. It's fun to watch them make the ice cream and roll it in front of you. $11 for a bowl is a lot but you do get whatever toppings. I got the berried in mango sorbet with strawberries, mochi, blueberries, popping boba, and lychee jelly. I thought it was really good and there was chunks of raspberries in the sorbet that I really liked. You can get as many toppings as you want which I liked because it made the whole thing better bc each bite is different and fun. There's no indoor dining and it's gets busy just because they have to make each ice cream right after you order.
hands down one of my fav dessert place in sf. SO SO GOOD. def would be coming back fr. service was good too! wish the place could be bigger tho.
Rolled ice cream is amazing. I absolutely love the ice cream from here. The people who work here always do a good job. The only downside is the actual location isn't nice and sitting and eating your ice cream there isn't ideal due to the loud sounds of them preparing the other people's ice cream orders and the street noises. There's a park nearby though.
I was excited to try these delicious Ice Cream rolls. So, I had this unique fun experience in my last time in San Francisco. I tried three different kinds of them! Strawberry Fantasy is one of my favorite, it tastes fantastic. I love Nutella, so Nutella & Chill is blended with bananas, graham crackers and Nutella.This one is wonderful. My last was Gotcha Matcha, we can taste the delicious flavor of Matcha green tea. I also tried their craft tea, so delicious. I highly recommend this spot :)
This place was a pleasant surprise! We came after dinner in hopes of getting some rolled ice cream, which I wasn't too excited for, until now. They have slaps going on, and the vibe is friendly. Let's talk about their menu, they had A TON of curated flavors and options to choose from. The only downside was they ran out of strawberries as a topping. I got girls just wanna have flan, and it had cheesecake bites crushed into the ice cream. I was in HEAVEN! Talk about a mouthgasm of flavors. I just know If they had the strawberries to top it off, I would've been even more in love. I'm now a fan of rolled ice cream because of this place. Too bad, I'm not from the city. We also got the Thai tea matcha, which was so cool because you can see the different flavors rolled up, aesthetically pleasing. Lastly, the strawberry banana was also delicious! Will return when in the city for sure! Must try!!
I love icicles! I'll always make a chance to pass by whenever in the area. It's a way to end the day w/ something sweet & fun before heading home. My most faves are #Girlsjustwannahaveflan & #Strawberryfantasy and you can get unlimited toppings.
Good but pricey! $9.25 for any bowl. It's not very clear but you have to order at the window way on the right, separate from the windows where they prepare the ice cream. They were busy but there was no line to order on a Friday around 9pm. FYI you get unlimited toppings, but they do tend to rush you and make you feel a little guilty if you're getting several things. * 5) Oreo Blast - 4 stars Ice cream was delicious. Rich and creamy. All the toppings I got were great, but the Lychee Jelly was a little hard, and Mochi was a tad stale. Toppings: Blackberries, Lychee Jelly, Crushed Oreos, Cheesecake Bites, Mochi, White Chocolate Drizzle. Next time I'll have to add Roasted Marshmallow to the toppings! read more
YUM. Even during the winter, the ice cream here is delicious. I ordered the Red Velvet Oreo with lychee jelly, coconut flakes, and mochi. I chose these toppings randomly, but they all made sense!! Amazing flavors for sure. Side note: The store doesn't have great smell.. maybe we came in at the wrong time or whatever, but it was not pleasant. The interior is nicely decorated, but I wouldn't stay for long. Just quickly grab your ice cream :) read more

Best roll up Thai ice cream place so far that I tried. That's just two places. The first place I went to in the Sunset District, it just didn't do anything for me. But this Icicles has a nicer layout with one easy ordering window and the cashier help explain to me how the process worked and told me popular flavors and when he pointed to the holiday flavor, pumpkin , then he had me sold! So thank you Yelp for the $1.00 off for the Yelp Checkin! Yah! :-) So I went to the first window, where I waited and then my cashier guy was going to be the same person to make the ice cream. He prepared the ingredients onto the freezer pan and soon he started mixing, crushing the graham cookie. He made it pretty quickly and then went over to the topping station. I like the Asian and American toppings like boba balls and cheesecake bites. Tasted pretty fresh with me and I had to add the whipped cream, strawberries and drizzle of Nutella with sprinkle of nuts! seating area was a bit strange, but I guess it's a way to make a large space for big groups to stand around in. There were only two tables to sit and a long lounge area with no tables where people can sit, chill and chat. So there isn't much of sitting area. All in all I had no complaints here excellent Thai style roll up ice cream with good flavoring. I would come back on a hotter day. After I ate it i was cold, but hey I am glad I went here! If you're looking for a late night, indulging treat this is a great spot. I absolutely love ice cream and so does my partner. Unfortunately, I guess as you get older dairy starts to not be your friend anymore -- boo! On the plus side there are several options for non-dairy flavors! Such a sweet surprise. The coco-nana had a creaminess that is similar to regular ice cream. I also tried the strawberry-lemonade flavor (the 2nd time we went), it was a bit too tart/sweet for me but it might work for someone else. Yes, $11 sounds like a lot for dessert, but this is something you get every once and a while not once a week. We were on vacation and wanted to try it out. We packed on most of the toppings. The mochi, almonds, and fruit were some of my favorite toppings. read more
Tried their peach jasmine tea and it really had tea taste since after the sip, it had the bitter taste as if you are drinking tea. I didn't taste much peach and not lot of sweetness. I didn't really like the drink but it was nice to try read more

I stopped in after watching a movie at Metreon. I'd say that I was neither blown away nor disappointed. I ordered the Honey Dew flavor with mochi and condensed milk. The ice cream was really thick but the flavor was pretty decent. Nothing special in my mind. I don't think I would go out of my way to visit this place again. I would also have to say I was pretty impressed by the stores set-up. They definitely highlighted the customer interaction and viewing of the rolling of the ice cream in the store's design. And the location is pretty good for all the hustle and bustle that is normal to the area. read more

It was my first time at icicles. They have a lot of great different flavors and toppings. You first pay for the flavor of ice cream. I got one that was called the Ferrari. It tasted amazing and almost like a ferrero rocher chocolate. Once they make the rolled up ice cream right in front of you you may choose a few extra toppings if you'd like. Overall the experience was that great and I loved my ice cream. I am looking forward to coming back here in the future. read more

We got Icicles after walking around the city for 7 miles and it was the perfect end to the day. If you've haven't had rolled ice cream before, you definitely need to go for the experience. It's so unique and the ice cream mixins and flavors are unlike any other ice cream. Icicles is in the heart of San Francisco in a pretty small store front. The staff was friendly and they have a lot.of flavor options. It's about $10 a cup for the ice cream and they only offer one size. We had to wait about 15 minutes so I wouldn't recommend going here if you're looking for something quick but otherwise it was great! read more
It might seem pricey, but the freshness and options are worth it, plus you get a cool looking yet delicious ice cream cup out of it! I totally understand that rolled ice cream is a fad, but I'm ok with that. There's something so fun about watching your ice cream frozen into a sheet then rolled into airy cylinders right before your eyes. It's the new ice cream show taking over where liquid nitrogen ice cream left off. Also, it's got the amazing unlimited toppings offering popularized by the froyo places that were the big frozen fad a few years back. Mai Thai w/ Popping Boba, Mochi, Condensed Milk, Roasted Marshmallow: I love thai iced tea so figured it'd be a great rolled ice cream flavor. And I was so right! Smooth, creamy, herbal. So good. The popping mochi were molecular gastronomy engineered to pop fruity liquid with each bite; tasty but regular old boba might have paired better with the mai thai. Loved the tiny mochi for the chewy texture. The condensed milk was a good pairing to the thai iced tea flavor, but the drizzle was really skimpy. And the roasted marshmallow was so cool. Skewered on a pretzel stick and roasted to order with a pastry torch; a must have topping on every order! read more
You really can never go wrong with ice cream. This little shop is a fun experience of watching ice cream rolled in front of you! You get to choose various fresh ingredients as the base and have unlimited different toppings served on top this dessert. Because the liquid mixture is frozen on an ice pan, you have to wait a bit for the ice cream to melt to fully enjoy it - which is hard for me because I like to dive right in! Icicles is a solid spot after a date night, especially in SoMa. The sizes are pretty large so you probably only need to order one for the two of you. I'm not sure if it's worth the price but it's fun for the occasional visit! read more

What a cool place! Love the ambiance and the decor, music was really cool too. We tried 3 flavors and they were all very good. The rolled ice cream was very creamy and it includes all the toppings you want for a set price. Boba is extra. My fave was the Mai Thai tea. read more

We tried Oreo ice cream and double chocolate with strawberries and with a lot of toppings. Yes we were super greedy and loved every scoop of it. It's super interesting to see how they make the ice cream rolls as well. Take your kids along for a fun experience. read more

The newest ice cream trend - ice cream rolls are a hit in my book! I love the texture and how long it stays frozen. I asked for a lid and brought it all the way back to work within 25 min and it barely melted! You get to pick their flavors and watch as they mash all the ingredients and make your ice cream rolls in front of you! It's a pretty cool concept that I highly suggest you check out. You can tell they really put a lot of work into rolling these for you :p I tried the Oreo blast and Teas Me. Teas me was good and had a Thai tea and matcha base. At first I didn't know how I felt about the combo but once I tasted it, it was so good! Definitely a unique flavor and one flavor doesn't overpower the other much. The Oreo blast was good and was recommended to me by the worker since it's a popular flavor. It tasted like a cookies and cream flavor. I love that you can add unlimited amount of toppings and it's all incorporated in the cost. This location is the only Icicles location I've been to and it's pretty spacious inside. It's right across the mall so it's a great break time snack when you want something cold and sweet when you break a sweat from all your shopping! read more
LOVE the variety of options and the quick service. They do rolled ice cream and have a good number of cold plates to parallelize the orders. There's also unlimited toppings and plenty of room to sit down and eat your ice cream! I got the avocado flavor, which is basically mashed up avocado and ice cream base; sounds kinda weird but it was delicious, highly recommend. My only complaint is that my ice cream was a little icy. read more

The struggle to make some delicious ice cream rolls. I felt so bad for the staff making the roll but at the same time nah.... lol! They look so tired from chopping, freezing and scraping the ice cream into a roll, but didnt feel bad because they dont need to go to the gym anymore from all that scrapping and chopping. We got the thai tea and matcha flavor and it was fire!!! So good, such a perfect and delicious combo. Staff was so friendly. Definitely recommended and will come back again! read more

Overall: good rolled ice cream, but definitely v pricey, here's a little breakdown of my experience there: Place (3/5): The interior was a bit lackluster and the place felt quite empty, some may say icy (get it? because "Icicles"! sorry for the attempt at a terrible pun lol). There were seating areas but they weren't the sturdiest and were a bit dirty. Food (3.5/5): I got the Teas Me (thai iced tea + matcha); however, I didn't taste any of the matcha, which made me a bit sad as the thai iced tea ice cream overpowered the ice cream rolls. I would suggest instead of mixing the two flavors to maybe do them side-by-side, as I would have enjoyed tasting some of the matcha. What made this place pretty good, despite the steep price, was that you can pick UNLIMITED toppings! I highly recommend getting the brownie bites (so tasty) and mochi. The ice cream is rich. the customer service is a 5, as soon as you enter you are welcomed with a smile and the service or assembly line that they have set up is efficient . The place could use a little bit of cleaning but aside from that I was pretty content with this establishment overall. Must try!!! read more

Was staying in San Francisco for a conference and Icicles was the only place still open that night within walking distance of the hotel. Looked pretty sketchy from the outside after dark, and was kinda weird inside too...like a cross between a pharmacy and a nightclub. There was no wait, so once we figured out how the ordering process worked, it was smooth sailing. The staff was friendly and helpful, and although pricey for my midwestern experience, the prices were in line with everything else I'd bought in San Francisco. You can also choose unlimited toppings, so you really can get your money's worth if you load it up. I'd never had rolled ice cream before, so this was a new experience. The process was entertaining to watch, and the result was a work of art as well as delicious! Don't let the unorthodox interior fool you....this is a perfect spot for a sweet treat after dinner or anytime of day! Highly recommended! read more

More like 3.5 stars. Rolled Ice Cream isn't that unique to me so that's where the stars goes. I got the Mai Thai and my sister got the Minty Oreo. My goodness the thai tea ice cream was strong in flavor yet so milky, thick and creamy. My sister said hers wasn't really as minty as she wish she did. -1.5 stars because Cashier knew I was 2nd in line after a large family ordered, yet took another customers order. Idk maybe I was waiting for a "next" or that the customers that cut us would figure that there's a line since both the cashier knew I was there and the customer knew I was there. Anyways, that was kinda messed up in the customer service part. Cashier looked guilty on her part. Would I go back if I was visiting SF again? No. $12 and unlimited toppings is pretty steep, even if I didn't get any toppings. read more
It is a cute novelty ice cream treat with unlimited topping for 10.00. I got the matcha with berries. They lost my friend's order-- but immediately remedied the situation once they realized what had happened. Cool seating option to people watch. read more

Great find after a night of dance rehearsal. Me and my partner were looking for a dessert place before we headed home and we found this place as it was close to where we practice. Five stars for a super friendly staff and they're open late. We got super lucky on our visit. There was a mixup with the custard that was brought out but they offered us the custard on the House. The wait was enjoyable. You get to watch as they make other people's orders. And then they call you to watch as hey make yours. I found it mesmerizing. There are different staff who make them and they all have their little quirks while they make their respective orders. (This is when the mixup happened with our order.) they brought out the piña colada but we ordered the mango sticky rice. Both flavors were super delish. The pineapple was refreshing and the mango sticky rice was rich. And even better...unlimited toppings. Definitely recommend this place for dessert. read more

Yes there are vegan options only a couple though.

Street parking is generally very limited, but there's a paid garage on the same block

As of September 18 they have been under construction/renovations after their soft opening. But their hours were 5pm-10pm.
