I won't lie to you gals (& guys), it's a dingy hole in the wall that isn't super clean or organized, BUT I loved my experience there. Both women who were working were super sweet and I loved my gel manicure. She took her time but was still pretty quick & did a great job. For removal of an old gel mani & the gel manicure itself it was 23 + plus tax. They don't have a big gel selection but I did find a color I love! I got a 10 minute back massage & omg! Both women helped! It was amazing lol. Normally I ask for light pressure because my back is a baby & cant handle super intense massages & I always still end up getting the toughest, hardest 10 minute massage ever & my back is always sore for a couple days afterwards, but this time though they actually listened & it was just so nice & refreshing. Overall it was a great experience & I will be back for sure!! Way better than the $55 gel mani from a place closer to where I work for sure. read more

I do not give reviews lightly. Yet, this is one nail salon I recommend with five stars plus. This tiny, cramped little salon is clean, beyond friendly and they do great work. From the minute you enter the door, they make you feel so special. Sue, Cindy and Fong are amazing! They even help you pick out colors. I love this nail salon and wouldn't go anyplace else. These ladies are wonderful. It may not be a fancy upper eastside salon, but you'll get great mani/pedis and other services that will last! I've been to lots of nail places throughout the city and this one is my favorite. They do a really good quality job. Your manicure will last a solid week or longer. And the women who work here are friendly and conversational. Despite its somewhat discreet location, they have a good bunch of loyal customers (for good reason!) Idea Nail was by far the friendliest place I have tried in the city. My husband and I booked an appointment for mani/pedis, and given it was his first time, he was so nervous! We walked in to the salon and was immediately greeted with smiles and hellos from all three ladies. They praised him for coming and seated us together to start our pedicures. They asked our names and had the friendliest conversation with us both. In all the nail salons I have been to in New York, this was the first place that asked me for my name and had real conversations with its clients! It was clear this was how they treated everyone since every person that walked in seemed to be a regular and were greeted with personal hellos. Sue was great with my nails and very diligent with everything she did. The other lady was great with my husband, making him feel comfortable. This was my second time visiting the salon. Both times the owner tried to keep me there at any rate possible knowing full well that the wait would be extensive. This time I sat for 45 minutes soaking my feet until someone came up to me, filed one nail and went to a customer who just came in. Ten minutes later, another technician did my pedicure ( a rushed and subpar one), and I as was about to get my manicure, the owner told her to take another client who also had the nails halfway done by someone else. It is true that I am not a regular client at that salon, but I am charged exactly as much as everyone else for the services and definitely deserve the same level of respect and treatment. An hour and a half later, I was no longer interested in getting a manicure at this salon. I tried to leave, the owner ran after me trying to get me to come back, trying to hug me, grabbing my arm to pull me back even after I asked her to leave me alone, let me pay and go to another salon where customers are treated with respect. The owner is fake nice and definitely pushes services on you. Stay away! read more

I live on the UWS and travel all the way east for my nails. I love this place! Sue is the best! She takes her time with your nails, always takes an interest and sometimes even offers me dinner. Cindy is so funny and friendly. She is fast and always does a great job. Fong is also so nice and gives a great massage and pedicure! I tell all my friends how great this place is. It is intimate and they make you feel at home. They take good care of their customers and are so accommodating. I would recommend it to anyone ! read more

I've been going to Idea Nails since 2000, before it even opened. How? By going to the Old nail place the owner Sue & her colleagues worked at. They had such a huge following she was able to open her own place-Idea Nails. I've been getting Acrylic now Gel nails & pedicures. Plus they have the BEST waxing service especially eyebrows. Even top make up artists comment on my eyebrows & nails. They give TOP professional service & their customer service is the best in any category. Whether you're new or a veteran like me, they & their customers always make you feel like you're part of the family. If you feel like chilling out & not chatting that's fine too. When I had a high demanding job, I could also get work done sitting in those amazing pedicure thrones. Seriously, with all the places you could go, this is THE one. By far a great salon. The ladies there are so friendly. The pedicure was amazing and the foot massage almost put me to sleep. The gel manicure was done the right way!!! She took her time and allowed my nails to cure under the light as your supposed to. Sorry thats a pet peeve of mine. This will be my salon while I am here in New York the next few months. read more

I really like this place! My favorite part about this salon is that the ladies here are all super, super sweet - everyone is so friendly and easy to talk to. They take their time with everybody to do impeccable work - I never felt rushed like at some other salons. My nails always come out looking great, and the manicures hold up very well (I'm pretty rough on my hands too). The salon is small and the owner welcomes you like an old friend. she and the techs seem to get regulars here based on the conversations and their familiarity with each other which is always a good sign. One star off for the limited selection of Essies and OPi's but they seem to have another brand I haven't seen before. read more
