The pan roast tasted good, I liked the spices, very flavorful. It was however a little too spicy for my partner. The staff let us know that this batch was a little spicier than most batches. We ordered the combo of 2 pounds of shrimp with heads on, garlic noodles, and 2 steamed rice. The seafood boil came out in a large silver bowl instead of the usual large clear bag. I found this to be much better in presentation. Everything was so delicious. The captain Loui sauce was so flavorful and sweet. The shrimp were plump and juicy. Garlic noodles were tasty. A couple of saucy yummy corn and potato were found in the bowl which was a good surprise. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Cap't Loui. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The combo options were a great deal. Free Ice cream popsicles for dessert were a nice surprise at the end. The oysters were particularly disappointing. They looked sad and were not what we expected. I also ordered a Coke Zero but received Diet Coke instead despite Coke Zero being listed on the restaurant's website. Most concerning, I became sick with what I believe was food poisoning after the meal. I can't definitively say the restaurant caused it, but the timing was concerning and made an already disappointing experience even worse. Lastly, they advertised a free appetizer for signing up for their rewards program with an entrée purchase. We signed up and purchased an entrée, but when we tried to redeem the offer, we were denied and told to use it on our next visit instead. Given our experience, there won't be a next visit. More importantly, we made a reservation through Yelp for Labor Day weekend. However, when we arrived, we were told that the restaurant does not accept reservations during holidays. If that is the restaurant's policy, it should be clearly stated on Yelp and the reservation system should be restricted for those dates. It was frustrating to find this out only after arriving, especially when we already had guests with us. We were then given a shortened dining time, which made the experience even more stressful.
