TLDR: Didn't like my california burrito Please note, I'm NOT an expert on Mexican food. I don't know authenticity or anything. My only reference to the Cali burrito is from Taqueria Eduardo's, which I LOVED btw. So I ordered the california burrito here, with Chicken Pastor. The burrito was sufficiently huge. But it had cilantro (wish they said that on the menu), and a bunch of other stuff I didn't like, like cucumbers and sour cream. Also the chicken itself was just ok. We got 1 soft taco under 5$ and had as much quac and chips and salsa as we wanted. My wife and I got full with one taco by getting salsa and chips which were a little stale but there was no limit so can't complain. We also got drinks and we had such a good time. There was one homeless guy with a broken hand, who came for free chips and salsa and somebody bought food for him but other than that the place was ok. DELICIOUS! I feel like this spot is so underrated. I stopped by here last month on a whim with a couple friends for dinner and was so pleasantly surprised. I believed I got their super taco and a hard taco shell, with lengua and cabeza (or pollo?) and wow, delicious! The service was quick and the order was fairly affordable, considering the current prices in this economy. I also enjoyed the fact that there was a free chips and salsa bar. Is this a whole in the wall? Yes. Is it a bit grungy? Also, yes. But this place is exactly what you expect and does the job done when you want some yummy Mexican food. I stopped by potrillos 3 Taqueria while visiting the Sunnyvale area because my son had football practice and I wanted to try something nearby. While I was walking to the bathroom, I noticed the person preparing food was on his cell phone while still wearing his food-prep gloves. That immediately made me uncomfortable. I couldn't tell if the same gloves were being used to continue cooking afterward, and honestly, that's pretty gross and concerning from a food safety standpoint. If I were to get food poisoning, this would definitely be the first place I'd come back to question. As for the food itself, it was just okay. The burrito was edible, but nothing special--I've definitely had better. I'm giving one star for the burrito and one star deducted because of the lack of hygiene and professionalism. I'm not trying to knock down or harm a small business. I actually support local spots and want them to succeed. But when I see things like this, it really upsets me and makes it hard to recommend the place to others. I've been dining here for decades. It's one of the most solid lunch places in the area. You can dine cheaply or get the more expensive combination plates. Burritos and tacos good. Machaca good. Free chips when you buy food. Soda fountain and refills if you dine in. Salsa bar is good. Very quick. Nothing spectacular inside but it's clean and bright and there's plenty of parking. Unfortunately, this past weekend when we visited, I ordered a taco plate and a campachana. Unfortunately, they've changed their tortilla size to " street taco" which is like a mini taco. They were fast with preparing our breakfast burritos, but we had a few issues. 1) the price-- this was our fault, but we ordered over the phone without checking the price. For 2 breakfast burritos-- my total was almost $29 (without tip). 2) There were too many potatoes in the burrito as filler 3) There were eggshells in BOTH of our burritos-- please see the attached picture. Delicious, as always! During the week, this place is REALLY busy, so stopping by for lunch on Saturday was great. Only a few people were in line, and we were able to get a table inside. The carne asada taco plate was very generous with 3 street style tacos with fresh cilantro, onions and hot sauce (just like it should be) and lots of beans and rice. The super burritos are really big. They were generous with the carne asada, and the shrimp super burrito was full of fresh and juicy shrimp, and both burritos were loaded with all the extras. I am on a very official search for the best enchiladas in the area. Tres Potrillos was next on the list and I will say, this is probably the best food value I have found yet. The portions are very significant (we're talking like 2 pounds at minimum)! I got the cheese enchiladas combo and it was totally fine. It is not my new go to spot for them, but I also wouldn't be opposed to coming back. i might get a burrito or tacos next time? My spouse got a carne asada burrito which, again, was massive. If I could give this place a zero I would! I order a torta with no onions clearly said NO ONIONS because onions make me sick!! They bring me my torta and I can smell the onions in it, I go to check it and it has onions I tell the guy working and he says that he put no onions. He told me he was asking the cook and he said that it had guacamole but it did not have onions. I clearly showed him that there was onions in it and they refused to change my food. They said that it had no onions when the guy that took the order said oh yeah it has onions. This place is extremely delicious and authentic. My only complaint is the customer service, but because the food is so damn good I'm sure they don't care too much about this. Hopefully they are paying their staff a decent living wage. I feel like this spot doesn't "cater" to no-latinos because only as a Mexican you would know how to order. I speak Spanish, but there is definitely a language barrier for the employees if you only speak English. Make sure you're clear so they don't mess up your order! One cultural misconception is that they need to ask if you want extremely spicy salsa on your taco. i've never left a single review on yelp before, but today my go to taqueria was closed so i ordered from here. i got pozole and the hominy had a REALLY weird taste and color, almost like it was old. The Broth also tasted old and was super oily. I only got 2 chunks of meat and one was all fat and the other was so tuff and overcooked. My wife is on a quest to find the best fajitas in the South Bay so we had to try this place. We arrived at about 5:30 and were able to pretty much walk right up to the counter. By the time we finished ordering there was a line to the door. My wife got the steak fajitas and I got the combo plate with an Al Pastor taco and a Chili Verde enchilada. They had a decent selection of beer. Only a few salsas to pick from but they were all delicious. The pickled carrots and jalapeños were a little heavy on Bay Leaves for our taste. The place was packed by 6pm. They have music playing and futbol on the TV. The place is relatively clean. You do have to pay attention for your number to be called over people talking and music. Plenty of parking! I thought that the fajitas at $19.99 were priced nicely. In summary I really enjoyed my combo plate, their rice is really good. My wife doesn't think she found the best fajitas in the South Bay, but she did enjoy them! Don't miss the Jamaica too! It's a little out of our way but it's totally worth checking out!
