Updated Special Menu, 3 Tacos are $9.75 now and sampler went up in price from $14
Bobby L.

Came to this place with some friends while doing a food tour of San Jose. The woman at the cash register was nice and helpful. About the food, tacos specifically, because I love great street tacos, this place was kind of a miss for me. My carne asada meat came out like warm straight from the kitchen which is a bad sign, but also lacked any sort of seasoning. Sadly for me if the carne asada isn't good you can already tell where my carnitas is going. 2/5 The carnitas were super dry, did I maybe get the last of the meat from the container? It also came out luke warm from the kitchen. As soon as they dropped it off to the table I tried the meat from my To go container before leaving. 2/5 Maybe I'll give this place another try, but after our first visit it's a little hard for me to justify coming back. Food: 2/5* [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance: 3/5*[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Customer service: 4/5* Note: my rating is on the food itself not anything else.

if you are in the mood for some fish tacos, this is the place! You will not be disappointed. They have a great selection of tacos, burritos and plate options on the menu. Their drinks are so fresh! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small parking lot, walk up to order and sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have inside and outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is prompt and attentive. It can take longer on weekends as it is a small business. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Fish and chips with a side of pozole.
Dat N.

We came around dinnertime. It wasn't too busy, so we were seated immediately. We ordered fish and chips (with a side of pozole), a si food chimichanga (with breaded halibut), two breaded halibut tacos, two salmon tacos, chips con guacamole y salsa, a regular horchata, and a cold brew horchata. The fish and chips were decent. While the fish and chips themselves are unseasoned, they come with some condiments. The pozole was good; some of the meat in it was tender, but some were tough. The chimichanga was huge! The breaded halibut inside stayed relatively crispy for some time, and overall, it was pretty tasty. I wish there was a little more salsa, though, to help brighten up the flavors. The tacos were pretty decent - the breaded halibut, as it was in the chimichanga, was nice and crispy. The salmon was a little on the drier side, though. The chips were good. The salsa and guacamole are well made, and the chips' crunchiness was a great compliment to the meal. For some reason, we thought the cold brew horchatas would be "horchata brewed in cold water" as opposed to cold brew coffee and horchata. Coffee at dinnertime was certainly a choice for us. In any case, the horchata wasn't that good - too sweet, yet sort of bland.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A delicious Mexican restaurant offering a great variety of seafood dishes with a lovely patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love Dia de Pesca's Sí Food tacos, especially their Halibut tacos. Rice and beans are delicious as well. Service explains the menu well and makes our dining experience pleasant.

Lovely place. I am planing to comeback and keep trying more food. I visited with my husband and [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a nice, cute and clean place to seat and enjoy some good food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is small but super cute and kind customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Bought for lunch. Got enchilada with red sauce. The sauce was more of a paste not a sauce. Which made the enchiladas dry. Wouldn't go again.

Chimichanga Meat

We have been here a few times but the last 2 times it hasn't been that great for us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today we arrived early and they were still wiping down the outdoor tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, we were waiting for our friends to arrive and we noticed that the outdoor seating area near the flower pots near the handicap parking area was still wet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our friend went and got some napkins to dry it off so they can sit down. Upon ordering our friends went first to order upon entering there was a few people in line waiting for someone to come and take their order. I went and placed our order and after it was all done my husband noticed no table marker with a number assigned to our order. When I went in to inquire the girl was a bit confused and basically stated I know what you ordered. I usually order grilled Prawns but I didn't see it pictured in the menu so I order a Shrimp dish in tomato sauce but it didn't meet my expectations as in my previous experience with the grilled shrimp this is my own fault. Our friends also ordered their same fav dish which is Chimichangas and they also said it wasn't as good as in our previous visits there so we will not be returning. Also, for Credit Card charges they do charge a service fee of 3% and it's stated on their Menu just an FYI Cash is preferred and there's a discounted price if paying via cash.

IMHO First time here with my friend. We love trying out new places. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a very colorful and charming Mexican restaurant that looks like it was once a gas station.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't know that for a fact but there was a sign above the door that said, "NO SMOKING, STOP YOUR MOTOR". There is a small parking lot that maybe serves 9 spaces. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is both inside and outside dining. The patio tables are tiled and seating spacious[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Most of the diners were eating outside on this lovely day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order and pay at the front counter and take the order number to your table. I paid in cash, which saved me 3%, since I wasn't using credit. Don't forget the tip box!! I ordered the Fish n' Chips special, which came with a salad on the plate. I don't know what my friend ordered, but she loved her grilled taco. You'll just have to look at the pictures! My fish was super tasty and crispy! The gentleman who took our order was probably also the chef. It seemed like a one-man show. That's probably why it took a while for our food to make an appearance. The table we chose also needed to be cleared from the previous diners, but it was the only one left with shade. He apologized when he came to clear. Service was extremely friendly and helpful when asked. My fish n' chips platter came with cocktail sauce, which was a bit spicy for my fries. I didn't want to wait for Humberto to come back out to ask for ketchup, so I went inside. He graciously went into the fridge to get me a chilled squeeze bottle of ketchup! I think my salad had chipotle sauce on it instead of thousand island too. I will definitely return to Dia de Pesca!

Generous portions! I ordered the salmon chimichanga and knew I was going to be taking it home so I chose to get the sauces on the side. The flour tortilla was fried, flakey and buttery. The sauces paired well with the salmon, though I would try the sea bass next time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice homey style restaurant and you order and pay at the front.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Three Taco Sampler
Julie S.

We had gotten delivery from Dia de Pesca a few times during lockdown but this was the first time I took the bf to actually eat there in person. I ordered the three taco sampler that had a fried fish, a grilled fish, and some kind of meat taco. It came with two side options so I went for rice and beans. Also ordered shrimp ceviche for us to share. The bf got a vegetarian burrito that he said was one of the best vegetarian burritos ever because it had a lot of grilled vegetables inside. I felt like the prices were pretty reasonable and the portion sizes were good. The ceviche had a ton of shrimp! Their outdoor eating area is really special - it seems like you are eating in someone's garden. Lots of plants separating the eating area from the parking lot, and all the tables are colorful. We will definitely return.

Dia de Pesca is one of our weeknight favorites - my girlfriend from San Diego has said it's her top Mexican food place in the Bay. We always get takeout, and the food is fab. Staff are so nice, and it's great they have sizeable indoor/outdoor dining. We love the sifood burritos and taco sampler. Sooo good! My pic is terrible but we always get too excited to eat right away to take pics.

Stumbled across this spot and I'm glad I did -- definitely a hidden gem that locals need to check out. I grabbed two tacos: one shrimp and one breaded halibut. The halibut taco? Absolutely fire. Perfectly crispy, flavorful, and well-balanced. Highly recommend that one if you're stopping by. The shrimp taco was good too -- fresh and tasty -- but it was a little light on the meat compared to the halibut. Still worth trying though! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, this place has that underrated, hole-in-the-wall vibe with food that seriously delivers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll definitely be back to try more off the menu.

I've been coming here for about 10 years and it's had the same flavor and taste as always. My go to is the breaded halibut, the toppings add so much flavor. It's always super delicious. I make the drive from San Mateo but it's worth it. The rice is not good, it's hard and has no flavor but other than that everything was great. The service is good! You order inside and sit yourself wherever available which is nice. They bring your food out and that's the extent of it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the outdoor seating area, SJ has such nice weather and sitting in the shade is perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tables are enough far apart to enjoy your meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My wife and I consistently come to Cap't Loui for our beloved Friday date nights at least once a month. We are ALWAYS so impressed with the yummy food (we always get 2lbs shrimp/2lbs crawfish combo in Medium Cap't Loui sauce with garlic noodles, garlic bread, and Cajun fries). Wifey and I are stuffed after this but will cleanse our palate with complimentary popsicles in the freezer by the entrance. So yes, the seafood boil and food is absolutely phenomenal. But even MORE impressive is the generationally excellent customer service, in particular from Aung and Edward. They are true servant leaders and I noticed they take care of each and every patron as if they were family members or royalty. Between the delicious food and the brilliant customer service, you better bet your bottom dollar that my wife and I will continue having our traditional Friday night dates at Cap't Loui!!!!

4.5 Stars Rating (:…read more Been hearing about Cap't Loui for awhile now, but haven't tried it until now! I usually go to Cajun Bistro for seafood boil, but I find the quality of the seafood there to be inconsistent, which made me want to try a new place. I got the 4lb combo with crawfish (frozen, fresh is $5 extra), shrimp, and clams, including corn, sausages, and potatoes. We also got garlic noodles and a calamari basket with cajun fries. For seafood boil sauce, we opted for the cajun instead of lemon pepper. I wasn't sure if I would finish everything, but it was INHALED. I really like the seafood quality here, but sauce-wise, I prefer Cajun Bistro for the garlic butter sauce. Cap't Loui does not offer that sauce, but it was still delicious overall. Service is timely and our food came fast, so thats a big plus. Only complaint I have here is that I wish there was more sauce in the bowl. The bowl had too much food, so I couldn't dip or soak my seafood in the flavor.

I was worried they would be close by the time I get there since they close at 5pm and it was 4:45pm when we got there. There is parking in the back that you can drive in and park. I told them I wanted 120 Pacific oysters and the worker brought it out right away. They were $120 but since I used my card to pay, they tacked on $5 to the price. I think you have to spend a certain amount to avoid the $5 credit card charge. They asked if I was ok with it and I told them it was fine and proceeded to pay. They have newspapers on the side that you can use to put in ur car so the water from the oysters doesn't get on the car carpet. The oysters were really good and tasted fresh. Same quality but Bigger portions and better dashi, for about the same price? Sign me up. My girlfriend and I skated the potato salad appetizer - a delicious DIY experience that let you control the texture of your potato salad (though I feel I overmixed), and two take bowls which were MASSIVE - easily could have shared. The seafood was fresh, the portions generous, and maybe it's because I have a more Americanized palate, but the mixed seafood dashi was richer and paired much better than a mild seafood chazuke. Plus it came with shiso leaves and tempura crunchies so it was really no comparison. Overall this was a delicious meal that left me extremely full, unlike other seafood bowls that leave you just a little too hungry. Given the tastiness of their dashi, I'll def be back to try their udon. Also, as an added bonus, my dogs love the little dashi fish topper on their food they sell separately at the front.
